Is there any good place to get sheet music or anything for any of Owen's songs? Also, anyone ever listened to Ian Cooke? He reminds me of Owen, with the whole strings and loop pedal thing. Plus, the being gay bit.

A Final Fantasy Tattoo! Wooo

Hello! I've been meaning to post this for some time now.

Well over a year ago, I got my first tattoo. It's from the cover of "Has A Good Home". People react really strangely to it and ask what the hell it is, but explaining is half the fun. :) Wish the picture was bigger but sadly my camera's broken at the mo.

"They shoot music, don't they" filmed Owen in Vienna playing in a public toilet and in an open field with the A2 highway in the background, when he was there for Maximum Black in February.

You should definitely check this out. Owen plays "He Poos Clouds" and "Cliquot" acoustic and it sounds terrific.

The videos are quite nice aesthetically - the venues were well chosen in my opinion.

Cooking Wyld Mushroom Risotto!

Wyld Mushroom Risotto
Ingredients:
3/4 oz (15 g) porcini mushrooms
8 oz (225 g) mushrooms, pref. a mixture of chestnut & girolle mushrooms
175 mL carnaroli rice
3 shallots
200 mL dry Madeira
400 mL soymilk (pref. Vitasoy Creamy Original)
2 Tbsp olive oil
1/2 Tbsp vegetable stock powder
salt & pepper
3/4 Tbsp nutritional yeast
1 1/2 Tbsp raw walnuts
3 Tbsp blanched almonds

9 inch diameter baking dish
Mortar and pestle

Directions:
Rinse the porcini in cold water, then put in a bowl and pour 2 cups of boiling water over them, let them soak for 30 minutes. Put the soymilk in a saucepan and bring to a boil, allow the liquid to boil until it's reduced by half. Chop up the fresh mushrooms into rough chunks.
Preheat the oven to 300 F.

Peel and finely chop the shallots and put into a saucepan with the Madeira, simmer for 15 minutes until the Madeira has reduced to 2 T. Remove from heat, at the fresh mushrooms, stir and set aside.

Drain the porcinis and reserve the liquid, squeezing the mushrooms to remove all moisture. Chop them finely. Stir the stock powder intothe reserved liquid until it dissolves.

Put the rice into a baking dish with the olive oil, stir to coat. Add all mushrooms and shallots mixture, season with salt and pepper. Whisk the soymilk into the mushroom-soaking liquid, pour it over the rice and stir it. Place into the oven, without a cover, cook 20 minutes. Finely grind the walnuts and the yeast in a mortar and pestle. Remove from the oven, stir in the walnut mixture, and put back in the oven for 20-25 minutes. Remove it and serve, topped with a sprinkle of blanched almonds and more pepper.

Hi there,

I was wondering whether anyone would be interested in sharing Final Fantasy live shows. I am particularly desperate for the Over the Top show from 2005 that was spread on the internet a long time ago.

quite a long show. He did three encores!!
"Tidy Up" is a song (don't know if I can call it a song...) he did with Steve Kado, who was also support act. Steve is rapping, Owen is playing violin (not too much) and singing. I would put a video on sendspace.com, but it has 150 MB... maybe I'll cut it, the first two minutes are not part of the song yet, but i don't know how to do it (any ideas?)

Owen also said something on this Wiener-Stadtwerke (something like an energy provider) commercial-thing (in case you don't know: the wiener stadtwerke wanted to use "this is the dream of win and regine" for an ad one year ago, but owen refused; therefore they tried to compose a song similar to this song, but it ended up sounding almost the same - copyright infringe). He said something like "don't you have your own violinists?", and did not want to play "This is the Dream of Win and Regine" (he played it as an encore though). I'm happy that he was so humorous about it, he could be furious too...

Here are a few pictures I took - not too great a quality, I'm afraid. some of them are actually screenshots of videos, so they are kind of blurred... but the lights make them arty (farty), somehow :)
