I was asked by some people to post a topic on alchemy and alchemical symbols in response to the new Deathly Hallows cover art. Alchemy is of particular interest to us as Harry/Hermione shippers, since it's notable for using a 'chemical wedding' between a mercury female and a sulphur male during the seventh stage to transform the hero into gold, also known as the 'Philosopher's Stone'. If that means nothing to you, read on.

I am by no means an alchemy expert, so please keep that in mind. I hope this might spawn some discussion about both the covers and the role of alchemy in the Harry Potter series.

This post is huge, so I apologize ahead of time.

Hi. I'd like to acquire a Harry Potter poster, if I can source it. I haven't been able to find it for sale anywhere on various movie poster sites, nor on EBay.

It's a poster from the Prisoner of Azkban movie, with Hermione and Harry standing back-to-back, with Hermione facing the camera and dangling the time-turner in her right hand. I've got a single image of the poster, with the text apparently in German; I don't know if the poster was only produced in Germany or whether it was released in the English-speaking world as well.

I've only got a 'basic' LiveJournal account, so I can't directly include the image in this post. However I've set up my icon for this entry as a reduction of the poster in question.

I've seen this poster's image used on a couple of icons over the past year; even one with it in colour. The image I have, as you can see, is only in black-and-white.

I had a quick look and couldn't find any obvious 'Harry Potter Marketplace' sort of LiveJournal community; hopefully it's not a problem posting this request here? It *is* a poster of H/Hr! :-)

If anyone can tell me where I can purchase this poster I'd appreciate the information. Thanks!

awww, when i saw this icon i just went "awwwww." it's so nice and so bittersweet.

i'm using it now actually, but i want to post another picture of it here.

i made it bigger so it's easier to read the text. *sigh*

that is just so beautiful. it's not HHr but it's HP, and i just wanted to share it to you all.

i don't know who made it (someone named jocelyn). a friend of mine showed it to me anyways. but whoever made this, that's a good once. :)

Okay everyone,

Jason Isaacs (who plays Lucius Malfoy) will be at Borders in Garden City in Cranston, RI! That is my hometown, so I am EXTREMELY EXCITED! I looked in the paper this morning, and it had an article stating that he'd be at Borders from 9:30pm-11pm signing autographs! I hope I can get a few pictures or at least one with him! :-D

I wanted to bring something up prior to the book coming out. I don't know how popular this will be but I felt it was worth mentioning.

For all of us H/Hr shippers, my sincere hope is that Harry and Hermione DON'T get together in this book. Now before you all start trying to hunt me down and do mean and unspeakable things to me, please let me finish. Naturally, I want our favorite pair to get together eventually. But, like most of you, I want it to last. And for it to last (in my humble opinion) it can't be the first real relationship that either has. I know, most of you will say Cho and Victor but really, would you call either of those relationships?

One of things I have always enjoyed about JKR's writing is the realism that she brings to it. She tries to deal with the character's emotions and responses in a fairly realistic way. Generally speaking, 16/17 year old don't fall in love for life. They fall in love for 3 months and then the next cute guy/girl comes along and off they go. So, to me, I would like to see both of them date other people, maybe even several other people and then they get to the truth we all know. But when I say date other people, I don't mean member of the Weasley family. I love the Weasley and if H & Hr ended up with them, I could live with it, but under no circumstances should we see H/G & R/Hr if our ship is to occur. It would be far too complex and make things too difficult for everyone (unless of course Ron and Ginny die and really don't want that!)

So, bottom line. I would like to see Harry and Hermione continue to grow closer but continue to remain apart until the time is truly right.

Just my two cents.

Hello, I'm new and have been lurking here for a while now. I can't seem to stop checking into this community every second to check for any news, whatsoever. Or the other reason may be that I really dig the layout. Props to the designer! Anyway, I've just got a call from Borders letting me know that my copy was in (I JUMPED FOR JOY) only to be left anxious and wanting to know that I would have to wait til tomorrow at midnight to pick it up :p Anyone plan to attend a Midnight Release Party? Apparently the Borders store here is hosting one and I plan on attending it and indulging myself in Harry Potter goodness yessss... but since I'm on Hawaii time, I'll just have to wait 6 hours after our friends from the East Coast get it :)

I thought this article was encouraging for me, as it seems to be inching towards a H/HR!!

on a side note: IMHO, despite the spoilers/rumors coming around, i can't see why h/hr can't happen when Hermione is obviously Harry's #1 Fan. she puts his well-being as one of her top priorities, so platonic or not, that's a big heap of clue right there.

you know, as the clock ticks closer and closer to the appointed time, it seems that spoilers are simply springing up all over the place. i'll admit it, i used to be one of those people who would take to spoilerage like the proverbial moth to the flame, immolation and all.

but strangely enough, i found myself becoming more and more immune to the whole spoilerdom as the release time draws nigh. blame it on the dubious content of most of the things i've read so far, whatever, but i really think that even if i had a copy of the HBP in my hands tonight, i probably wouldn't open it.

well, ok, maybe i'd sneak a peek inside the bookjacket, and perhaps the titles, just to prove those damned spoilers wrong!

but i think the most important thing is the shared experience of receiving a long-awaited gift that would stop me. i think i want to wait with every other fan and, to use a corny metaphore, not pick the fruit before it's fully ripened.

that being said, i've been snooping around the LJ HP fandom more than usual lately, and i have to say that i am sick and tired of all the ship wars!! esp this insane rivalry between the R/Hr and H/Hr 'shipdoms. one thing in particular comes to mind.

i don't understand why non H/Hr shippers think that all H/Hr shippers hate ron and want him to die! that is one of the most ridiculous ideas i've ever heard! Ronald is a wonderful character, and is beloved by so many people who ship H/Hr. but one of the strongest arguments that R/Hr and H/G shippers against us is the fact that we want to kill ron. !?$#^%^& WTF!

and ok, even if you do hate ron, it's not like hating ron and being a non H/Hr shipper are mutually exclusive events! In fact, it really isn't so! i can name so many H/G shippers and fanfic writers out there that really don't like ron! so i don't understand why their shipdom is constantly attempting to slander and ridicule ours!

I don't know if any of you live around the Warwick, RI area, but at the Shaw's off Rt.2 (Bald Hill Rd.) THEY HAVE THE SIXTH HARRY POTTER BOOK ON THE SHELVES FOR SALE!

I did not purchase it, I actually had enough will power to only look at the plot summary and the chapters. If you want info, reply to this. The chapters are a little hazy to me, but I could summarize the plot summary on the inside cover for you. If this post isn't allowed, I apologize and please remove it from the site. It's brand new - not much in the way of spoilers - but there are absolutely no restrictions about what you can or cannot talk about. Ship, parts of the books, absolutely anything. You can gush all you want, either before you read the book or after :)

I just thought I'd point that out since 1. Some of you might read and want to talk about the book before others and 2. Its an easy place to point people if they want to talk about spoilers and you'd rather not.

<font face="trebuchet ms"><font size="1">I'm so sorry to post this here, but I'm desperate for some answers. Under the cut are some MAJOR spoilers for Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince. An LJ user (cantstoptharock) put 10 of these spoilers on the community harrypotterkids, of which I am a member, completely UN-CUT. I read them, unknowing, and now, the new Harry Potter book may or may not be totally ruined, depending on whether or not they are real.

Considering there have been very recent leaks of the book in Canada and upstate New York, I'm not sure what to believe. The spoilers are in white so that, if you want to read them, you can high-light them. They don't really have much to do with the plot, just events. They tell who the half-blood prince is and everything.

Does anyone have any idea what is going on?! *flails* I am so upset right now.

Ok I have a question, and it may be a stupid one... but why does McGonagal only get Harry in COS after Hermiones been petrified? She tells ron (only after he follows) that she supposes he should come too. Any ideas why? Cause I'm all confuzzled.
