2:00 am - Challenge #45 - Too Big to Bang
|

So, this is the partial opening scene of a not-quite-abandoned sequel to 'Into the Woods' (and the rest of the Forest!Verse). I have a few ideas for this (lots of B/K sexing, Broody!Stabler, an old friend, a new mystery), but sadly haven't yet found the motivation to return to it.
Never say never.
Warnings/notes: If you'll recall, they wound each other up at the precinct, in the alley, in the restaurant AND in the cab. So it makes sense that the opening scene is: slash, very rough draft, not entirely thought out, unbeta'd. May contain lines from my other stories. IDEK, it's been so long. 1015 words.

Title: ground truth (snippet) Author: Alexa C. Word Count: 1,000 Disclaimer: Not mine, no money. Notes: Part of a story titled "Five Crimes Never Committed in Oz (And One That ... Sort Of ... Was)" that was begun for an HT100 flashfic challenge last year and quickly grew way, way out of control. The section this is destined for is a fusion with Chris Moriarty's Spin State/Spin Control universe.

Every has that novel length story that makes you happy to think about - but dread writing. You honestly don't want to spend weeks, possibly months, of your life working on it. But it sure is nice to tinker around with it.
Here is your chance to write a scene from that story you're never going to complete. Or that's been sitting on the back burner for a while. Or that you'd like to start, but don't have the motivation to get going.
The scene doesn't have to connect to anything else. It can stand alone, or be a tantalizing taste.
It can even be a scene from a work in progress, something that you feel confident that you'll complete. But maybe you want to put part of it out there and see what readers might think.
Shoot for 1,000 words. Slash, het, gen - canon or AU - all welcome.

10:08 pm - Challenge #153: Visitation
|

Everyone in Oz seemed to get visitors, even Schillinger. Toby's parents, children and grandmother went to see him. All three of Keller's wives showed up. Kareem Said met Trisha Ross. Rebedow met his grandson for the first time in the visitor's room. There were many visitors on Death Row, in the Hole, in the Infirmary, McManus's office.
Then there is the S5 episode Visitation...
Shoot for 100 words. Canon or AU - slash, het, gen - all welcome.

Title: Lamb to Slaughter Author: trillingstar A/N: A bit lot over at 173 words. Set early S2. Not sure how close to the mark this is, but, have it anyway.
After the riot, it's the quiet noises that scare him: a half-knock, a shuffling step outside his door or the soft murmur of voices in the hall. Anyone he sees could be a heartbeat away from knocking him unconscious; he dreams of bleeding out on the floor.
Between appointments, he opens the side drawer and stares at the tiny volume. As hours pass, he lifts the tissue paper from its sides, and when the last beast - man - is gone, he pulls the book out and places it gently on the desk.
Reverently, he strokes the cover with the back of one finger. The book is centuries old, the kidskin cover dyed maroon, cracking along the spine, and stretched tight for protection. The vellum smells like history. The hand printed Latin is comforting.
He's in the library in Rome, watching dust motes float in a ray of sunshine that slants onto his table through the stained glass window. He smiles freely, he relaxes, he remembers what it is like to be unafraid.

Every inmate has a job, from scrubbing pots, to mopping floors, to office work. The hacks are only doing their jobs. For McManus, his work is almost a calling. That's definitely true of Father Ray and Sister Pete. Adebisi and Ortolani both worked in the AIDs ward. O'Reily, Poet and Pierce in the kitchen. Alvarez in the infirmary.
!00 words more or less. AU or Canon. Gen, het, slash, all welcome.

100 words.
Chris is well-acquainted with the hard, blue plastic chairs outside of the principal’s office.
He scuffs at the peeling linoleum tile with the toe of one sneaker while he waits to hear his name called. Clutching the note from his teacher with both hands, he crumples the paper, and then smoothes it out on his knee. His brow furrows as he reads the words again.
Chris likes to tell stories.
He knows this is grown-up code for Chris likes to lie.
Well, so what? He’s usually pretty good at it, he’s getting better, and next time, he’ll fool them all.

Bitter-Sweet
Loving Chris Keller is many things. Easy isn't one of them. It is: a one-way journey, trapping Toby inside a surreal anomaly, some sweet rift in time, separate and apart from anything he's ever known. Full of both the raw need and the tender moments when he knows that Keller is his. Will always be his. It is also: the petty mind-fucks, the jealousies and the ball busting that leave Toby desperate on the edge of that rift. Consoled by the bitter knowledge that Keller loves him, too, yet stranded on the shore of Keller's capacity to feel that love.

A couple of somewhat reworked lines from 'Escape From Oz'. 100 words.
Metzger catches Beecher before he hurts himself.
I crafted something that'll hurt the worst.
I never loved you.
Toby hisses better than any little kitty-cat.
It's not enough; I want it all, I wanna lick his wounds and break his bones and jerk off all over his face. My cock’s been hard since he rushed me, and fuck if I can’t wait to feel his hands on me again, even if it’s ‘cause he wants to hurt me. Hell, I want to hurt. I love it when they fight back.
This time for real, Beecher. Show me what ya got.

Toby couldn’t believe it – a man – *this* man – was coming in his mouth! He tried to get away but Vern was holding tight, keeping Toby’s face impaled on his cock.
"Oh no, sweetpea, you swallow that. You'll learn to like it."
Toby couldn't even process the insanity of that comment - he was concentrating too hard on not choking to death.
When Vern finally let him go, Toby lunged for the toilet and violently threw up, the nasty bitterness making him gag even more, until the only thing left to taste was the welcome, purging acid of his own bile.
