I was doing a search by interest, as I am always looking for new ideas/pix re: penguins and Antarctica, and I stopped by here to take a looksee. It's sad that our little movie has been talked out. I honestly watch it as much as my schedule allows, as it fills my heart with joy every time.

But because of this movie, I have moved on to doing something with my life again. For many years, I have had to struggle against so much in order to stay alive. My husband died in love with another woman, my dreams of becoming a geologist faded with economical reason, I developed narcolepsy, fibromyalgia, prurigo nodularis, asthma, and clinical depression. Oh, and all my teeth died-still working on that one. There were times when I had no reason to live, but I did because I am stubborn.

However, due to my stubbornness, I managed to obtain an MA in English Lit. I managed to work my way though disease and chronic illness so that I could become a mod/owner in several Yahoo Health Groups. I sought out help, despite those around me in the medical community who either didn't care or whose egos bordered on godhood. I was and still am, for the most part, silent and tough.

When I saw Happy Feet last year, I was at a most pivotal point in my life. I lay sick at home with a computer and I happened upon a website run by some very nice German scientists. I struck up a friendship with these folks and this year, I began my blog online: http://wiinterrr.blogspot.com/
I developed a keen interest in issues regarding penguins and I joined Greenpeace. I became what I was so many years ago: an animal activist. I devoted my myspace page (http://myspace.com/linwand/) to promoting news about penguins, in the hope it would inspire people to be more aware of how their behavior affects species half a world away.

This summer, I will be heading back to Maine to gather data for a much needed book on a special species of bird there. Next month, my first book will be published. I am also planning a trip to Antarctica in the next few years; those experiences there will also go into a book. I am cranking up a penguin adoption site soon. Although the world has not changed, I have. I have a purpose beyond my wildest imaginings.

So yeah, I am sad to see no one posting here--although I love the icons and hope to see all 100 (you go, girl!). There is much to be gained by allowing a thing of beauty to inspire one. The road to the future extends beyond the horizon and the path of the past fades into a pleasant fog. Would that I could wish that upon everyone here.

Well, last night I finally watched the dvd of Happy Feet. I used it as a reward for finishing this semester, and it worked. I think that the cartoon could've been left off and if Savion Glover wants to dance with Mumble, then someone needs to spend a few bucks and supply him with a new image instead of recycling the same Mumble of the screensaver. That's just plain cheap.

And what the heck is that Penguin moment all about? Kicking your unfeathered kid out into the middle of the freezing water? I was not amused.

Did I like the movie? Well, doh, yeah, but it seems as if there was an extra clip or two added to the original, as I don't remember them. Maybe this was just me at midnight, sleepy, and trying hard to find something neat about the extras. Yeah, Steve Irwin was cool and I wished that they had kept that killer blue whale in there. Not killer killer, but killer/cool.

And one last item. I put the dvd into my computer and because it has Windows XP Media Edtion, the movie player opened the disc. But, when I shut the player down, then nothing I can do from that point on allows me to reopen the dvd. I know... the directions say to pop it in and there is more on the disc. Just gotta figure out how to get to it.

No I don't. I've been looking for that too!

Hiya...^^; I was wondering if anyone had the Original Score OST for the movie, not the one with all the songs..that they sing...but you know the backdrop music. Any help would be appreciated. :D
