WHO WE ARE;
welcome to [info]hanson_live, what will hopefully become the only place you'll ever need to visit for everyone's favorite time of year - hanson tour season. i ([info]backbeatxrhythm) founded this community when hanson announced their random four-stop tour to preview "the walk" (the first time) because of all the questions being asked in [info]hanson. there are already tons of posts in there per day; why not eliminate some of the concert spam & put it in a community specially designed for answering those very questions?
WHAT WE'RE ABOUT;
we know how it is to tour with hanson - sometimes, you need to know what hotels have the best prices, need someone to split the cost of gas/tolls/food/board/whatever with, or maybe unload a ticket for a show you thought you could go to, but suddenly remembered that the 23-page term paper you've been working on for two months is due on the day of the concert at precicely the time the doors open & your professor won't let you hand it in a minute early. we've been there. after creating (what i thought were) successful & helpful communities specifically for mayfest & the live & electric tour, i thought, "am i stupid? why not just open one big community & let it grow instead of having to close millions of dead ones?" thus, [info]hanson_live was born.
RULES & GUIDELINES TO LIVE BY;
it is not my intention to impose 758239 rules on you, because rules do not a fun community make. however, to ensure that the community doesn't close & so that it runs as smoothly as possible, please keep these simple guidelines in mind when making a post or sending a reply.

• read this five-parter very carefully.

(1) posting your pictures is ok if your concert allowed cameras inside. this being said, i will not be checking each venue's photography policy individually.

(2) direct posting of videos from before or after the show is ok as long as there is at least one band member in the video. you may not post videos from the shows directly to the community, but if it is already on youtube or in a post you've made in your personal journal (or anywhere else in cyberspace), you may certainly link us.

(3) you may absolutely, positively, in no way post videos or photos of walker, diana, natalie, kate, nikki, jessica, avery, mackenzie, zoe, ezra, penelope, river, or everett hanson (or any other friends or family members) directly to the community, even if pictured with a member of the band. if the tour post you made in your own personal journal includes pictures of walker, diana, natalie, kate, nikki, jessica, avery, mackenzie, zoe, ezra, penelope, river, or everett hanson (or any other friends or family members), you may still link us, as long as your post contains at least one picture of the band.

(4) scalping is defined as "to resell at a price higher than the established value or buy and sell (securities or commodities) in order to make small quick profits" (thank you, dictionary.com) & is illegal. you may not scalp a ticket in this community, but you may try to sell an extra one for the price you paid for it (or less). saying "make me an offer via email" or posting links to ebay is also acceptable, as long as the final transaction does not take place here.

(5) no fileshariing. i don't care. don't do it. asking for bootlegs is filesharing. posting bootlegs is filesharing. talking about communities where filesharing is allowed is filesharing. asking where you can post your audio files is filesharing. asking where you can get audio files is filesharing. linking to a post where you've uploaded your bootlegs is filesharing. saying the word "filesharing" is filesharing. (kidding; just wanted to see if you're really reading. hah.) do not do it.

as long as we do this properly, it is my understanding (based on communications with newmedio) that our community will not be shut down without warning. failure to comply with this rule one time will result in the deletion of your post or comment & a warning. failure to comply a second time will result in banning. (dun dun dunnnn.)

• ok, seriously kids, read the tour faq before posting a question. chances are, it's been answered there.

• i don't know why anyone would do this in a community specific to concerts, but don't post any material from the members' side of h.net in here. this includes (but is not limited to) members-only pictures, futys, entire forum threads, & basically anything else from the member's side. you may post things from the public side as long as proper credit is given where due. failure to comply with this rule one time will result in the deletion of your post or comment & a warning. failure to comply a second time will result in banning. (dun dun dunnnn.)

• keep in mind that not everyone's been to as many hanson concerts as you have. there's a good chance that the person who's just posted the most assinine question you've ever heard has never even been to a show before. we know what our reputation is - don't perpetuate it by being a snotty know-it-all. if the same question has been asked, like, one post away, simply post a link or don't say anything at all.

• use good grammar & punctuation. your post won't get deleted over it, but still, tiepeing lyk disz isz madd anoieing y0, & most of the time i (& our other members) won't be able to understand what you're talking about.

• camping out is something that will happen as long as there is a hanson to love. just think about that before posting a request like "can the girls who always get front row please not sleep out for the allentown show because i can't get there till 2pm & i've never been front row & i'd like to be for this concert" or "can someone in the front of the line please save me a place? i'll be there 10 minutes before doors open." it depends on who's around you in the line, but usually cuts are a big-ass no-no, & you run the risk of getting your ass handed to you on a plate.
