craft exchange?

  • Dec. 2nd, 2008 at 5:24 PM
Hey all!

I am SO into all the crafts everyone is posting!

I have a physical disability that severely affects my coordination. I love doing crafts for people, but honestly, if a five year old can't physically do it, I probably can't. Still, I'm always on the lookout for projects.

Projects that I have rocked in the past:
- (blurry pic of) marble magnets (Here's a tutorial.)
- 1.25" buttons (I own and love my button maker.)
- paper crafts with stickers or letter punches.
- rhinestoning anything! (Yes, I did rhinestone a ceramic owl. This is a pic of the partially done owl.) GORGEOUS!

Question: Are there any communities where people trade crafts? I would love to trade some of my stuff/skills for other cool crafts.
For example, I'd be happy to trade buttons for knitted legwarmers!

Any thoughts/ideas are appreciated!

I love those marble magnets!

Would you be interested in a trade for the armwarmers I just made and posted? They'll fit arms slightly smaller than 9" in diameter. (mine are just over 9") I'd really love to trade for some custom buttons espousing the rockitude of girls to wear while at my job as a snowboard instructor. And/or some cool unique stickers for my snowboard.

HECK YES! I'll totally trade buttons (or my left kidney) for some LOVELY armwarmers. They kick ass!

Awesome! Just make sure to measure your arm so you know they'll fit, one of them is snugger than the other.

Why don't you email me at akari.lib @ gmail.com and we'll discuss all the nitty gritty details.

Well, I couldn't find a comm, so I made one!

I think this sounds like an excellent idea - trading your skills in something for someone else's.

You should let people on sew_hip and the other crafty communities know about this too!

*wave wave*

I noticed you are another Seattle-native, and so of course I checked your user profile. I have this theory that you would really appreciate the community

thrifthorror.

Oh, it's joyful!

As far as trading crafts, I'd check http://www.craftster.org. they have craft trading stuff there, though I'm pretty sure 10 or 20 people have already mentioned that. I couldn't be assed to read the previous comments. bad me!

Anyway, hope you get a kick out of it!
