| Hi! And... a few other random things. |
[18 Sep 2005|10:13pm] |
Just so this ain't some noob 'Hi, I'm new to the group' post, I'll get to a few things to discuss... I'm a Harry Potter fan... and a Shakespeare fan. So I had to laugh when I saw the name of this community. I've been saying since OoTP that the book's going to end in a bloodbath, whether I want it to or not. Well written agnst is good. ^_^
So, if it's truly a "Hamlet Ending" theory, who's going to play the part of Horatio, and be the loyal sidekick that survives the final battle and gets stuck telling the story?
I want it to be Hermione, because logically it would be one of the trio. But I do want to see Snape survive. But I think that it's going to be a "redemption through death" thing for him. Unfortunately. Because I desperately want to see him be good...

| Dead!Neville |
[24 Jul 2005|02:27pm] |
Neville finally got a new wand! Cherry and unicorn hair.
Back in CoS Ron got a new wand as well: either willow or ash and unicorn hair.
The first beastie killed way back in PS was a unicorn, and Ronan's reaction was "Always the innocent are the first victims," he said. "So it has been for ages past, so it is now."
Ron and Neville are toast.
Obviously they can no longer be first. Diggory was first (hee! I sound like Malfoy). But they can be the first students killed as part of the actual war?
BWAHAHAHAHA! DED!
Let's just hope Neville gets to take a few down with him.

I have to say, I was slightly disappointed by the lack of gory, gruesome deaths in HBP, but things still look like they're going my way so....
Okay, who is next to go? Do your pre-HBP ideas still hold?

| OMG Flitwick is teh ded! |
[07 Apr 2005|12:35pm] |
Maybe this is old news but I just now saw it on jkrowling.com Q: Is Flitwick a short human or is he some other type of being? (A Mugglenet/Lexicon question)
A: Just like Dean Thomas (see ‘Extras’), Flitwick has a background that I now realise will never see its way into the books because it is not relevant to the plot. He is human but with a dash of goblin ancestry – something like a great, great, great grandfather. This is only interesting in as much as it gives him a perhaps unexpected empathy for people like Hagrid who are, in Death Eater parlance, half-breeds. However, Flitwick and Hagrid have never had a scene together, so Flitwick’s genetic composition has been relegated to the very back of my mind over the six novels in which he features, although I think it has informed his character. Slightly dotty though he may be, he is welcoming of all students, whatever their background (he did say in ‘Philosopher’s Stone’ that he was very fond of Lily, thus establishing that he was not prejudiced against Muggle-borns).
She's going to start slaughtering people in book 6! Unless he does something boring like retire.
I hope Snape and Lupin are around for all 7.

| How much do you want Remus Lupin to die? |
[17 Jan 2005|10:28pm] |
My name is Sarah and I am a Remus Lupin h8r. I realize this may upset some people, even here. I've been building up a rant but I didn't want to post it in my own journal and hurt all the nice Remus Lupin fans on my friends list. At least here, we all think he's going to die.
I can't explain why, even. I just really do not like this fucker. Every time I see a fic of a pairing I like, they always have to stick his ass in there. Or at least have one of the characters angst about Remus, their only true love while they're totally giving it to someone else.
So my questions for you: How soon? How much will it hurt? Methods? Means? Motives? Whodunnit? And wouldn't it be cool if Harry was all "Bitch, please. Now back when Cedric died, that was totally sad."

| Death != cruelty. |
[05 Jan 2005|03:38pm] |
Many people have argued that Harry will not die at the end of the series. The argument I hear most often comes in several forms, but they all boil down to the same thing.
"It would be anticlimactic for him to die after everything he's been through."
"She can't kill him that would be OMGMEAN."
"It's too harsh an ending remember these are kids' books!" (The "just kids' books" thing actually may be a whole other rant.)
I would beg to differ.
I have seen offered as an alternate possibility that Harry will live, but lose his powers. I think this would be a far harsher punishment for our hero than sweet, sweet death. I think Harry wants to die.
When Harry was just 11, he looked into a magical mirror that showed him the deepest desire in his heart. And what was that? Yep, dead people. I bet if he looked in there again, there'd be even more of them.
At age 12, when Harry believes himself vanquished by the basilisk poison, is he afraid of what awaits him? No, he simply tries to thank Fawkes, and thinks:
If this is dying, thought Harry, it's not so bad. Even the pain was leaving him ....
Then when he next assumes himself to be toast, at age 15:
Let the pain stop, thought Harry… let him kill us… end it, Dumbledore… death is nothing compared to this… And I'll see Sirius again…
Let Harry die. It's what he wants, and he will have earned it.

Here's a fun little article describing why the author believes that Ron may die before the end of the series.
Yay death! :D

| Sirius Black is indeed ded. |
[02 Sep 2004|03:18pm] |
The idea that Sirius Black is not dead is rather popular among Harry Potter fen, much to my annoyance. However, last night I finally managed it.
I have now located a direct quote by J. K. Rowling stating that Sirius Black is indeed dead.
The author tells BBC's Newsnight, "I had re-written the death, re-written it and that was it. And the person was definitely dead."
That is J. K. Rowling, talking about the death in Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix. It is from here.
I liked the character as well, but now the rumors of his state of livingness have been put to rest.
Go ahead and put his body with the rest of them.

| The Marauders' Reunion |
[19 Aug 2004|11:11pm] |
Okay, so Sirius and James are already dead. And if Peter sacrifices his life for Harry's to repay his debt, then Peter's dead as well. And if three of the Marauders die, then Lupin is dead by association. Thus, all of the Marauders are dead.
So I drew a pretty picture.
( The Marauders' Reunion )
Just so you know, the thing took me most of today to create.

I wrote this fic for my best friend as her Christmas present last year, because I'm cheap. I'm posting it here for two reasons: 1. It has Ded!Ginny 2. It has Blaise/Seamus, and I know ya'll want some of that.
Warning: This is a ridiculous ramblefic written on a napkin in the cafeteria, and makes no sense. There is death by spoon. Also, there is Harry/Snape, because my friend is a Harry/Snape 'shipper. That's not the main part of the fic, so you can ignor it. Aren't I thoughtful? This is unbeta'd and typos run rampant.

woo. Wasn't that groovy?

Draco? teh ded, or not? Will he die a gruesome death eater-y death, when Snape goes all avada kedavra on his punk ass? Or will he survive, and become a bitter resistance fighter, the last of the death eaters?
In this community this is probably quite a stupid question, but I figured I'd give it a go, since I've not seen much mention of Malfoy yet.
