AboutHalls Of Psyche is a community for the creative discussion of 'madness': theories, treatments, and possible alternatives to mainstream psychiatry.
Within these halls we can explore lunacy in a wider frame, in various ways.
Perhaps we can question the biochemical theories for radically altered/alternative mind states, though we need not exclude those theories, but perhaps view them in a holistic context, and, in so doing, generate some interesting and valuable discussions. We can engage in debate for those who feel strongly for and against the medical model.
We can quest and question, and be authors of our own experience.
If you are intrigued by or have pondered the psychological,social, somatic, and spiritual possibilities which may also account for deviations from consensus reality and non-ordinary consciousness, please contribute, share your story, ask questions, and sit back with your wine and enjoy.
In addition, feel free to share in a personal manner or seek support. Discuss your day,your thoughts, your methods, or receive an ear if you are feeling overwhelmed. The members here are not segregated by any category; we all have a diverse range of insights to draw on,and multiple perspectives to offer.
You are welcome to widen the theme by posting any item or musing that relates to consciousness.
Above all, this is a *safe* space for people to think and feel aloud.The only rule is that members respect one another's views,personal characters,and mind states.
Members who choose to be medication-free are respected equally to members who choose to be on medication, in support of where people feel most comfortable.
NOTE: Do not begin, cease, or withdraw any psychiatric medication without the advice and supervision of a (compassionate) doctor.
