I haven't really posted anything on here, but I've been watching this group since my MoH pointed it out shortly after the engagement. We got married this Halloween, though we were less themed than most in this group.
Our favors were various Halloween candies they could "trick or treat" from table to table to get. Our flower girl (my new step daughter!!) had on faerie wings, & half way through the reception she & our ring bearer (my new niece!!) changed into Halloween costumes. The florist added a neat touch & put cobwebs on many of our floral arrangements, & the girls dropped silk autumn leaves instead of petals. We encouraged our guests to come in costume, though sadly, only my boss & her husband, & 3 other people besides the kiddos dressed up since we had an afternoon wedding.

My photographer is a very dear friend of mine & absolutely amazing at what she does.
Here's the link to the photos she did for us for anyone interested.

So I hired two high school photography students to take my photos. They far exceeded my expectations. I wrote them reference letters and gave them $100 each. If you do not have a massive amount of money to drop on a photographer, like me, you should look into this. They took over 1,000 pictures and gave me 4 disks with more than 700 pictures on them (I asked them to delete ones with bad light, closed eyes, etc.) I only had $1,200 for my whole wedding. This site was an amazing help to me. I made my own invitations and programs. I bought fake flowers when they were 50% off at Michael's and Hobby Lobby and made my own bouquets and boutonnieres. I got my dress and rings on eBay. I got my bridesmaid dresses at Ross for $20 each. I went to a bridal show and got a coupon for $40 off each tux. Do not underestimate the bridal shows, they can provide great discounts. I bought party stuff on eBay, Oriental Trading Co. and Dollar Tree. My maid of honor and I made the food ourselves the day before. I even got my cake at Crest (a local grocery store) for $115. I wouldn't splurge on a really expensive cake unless you want custom flavors or a design that the regular stores can't do. Take a picture to them and ask if they can make your cake. They don't only make the cakes in the book on the counter and they are usually happy to do something different. Here are some of my favorite pictures...

14th-Nov-2009 07:22 pm - Photos and wedding update
It rained on our wedding day.... actually it poured so we had to have the ceremony inside instead of out at the gazebo. The wedding and reception was awesome anyways. Our wedding party walked in to The Undertakers theme and I walked in to Love Song For A Vampire by Annie Lennox. We said our vows in front of family and friends, exchanged rings, jumped the broom and shared our first kiss as husband and wife. We had a grand entrance into the reception. The lights were up and "Chapel of Love" starts playing and then it sounds like someone took the arm of the record player and scratched it off the record. The lights went off and the strobe lights were going on the door we were to make our entrance to. Sounds of eerie heart beats and church bells began slowly and increasingly getting faster and faster. Then what sounds like a demon ( which was actually my cousin congratulating us on our marriage from his family played backwards) begins speaking and the intro to "Shout at the Devil" begins. The DJ announces us as the ushers open the door for our grand entrance. We walk out just as Vince Neil sings " Shout at the devil...". It was totally frigging awesome. Our guests said they didn't know what to think when the lights went out. Everyone went on about how cool our entrance was all night long. I am waiting on our professional photos still but I thought I would share a few photos that I do have.

Ok, so my photos thus far consist of about 10 that one of my friends took and posted online. 10th-Nov-2009 08:52 am - over zealous thank yous
While waiting for more pics from our photographer, and until we leave for our honeymoon (Wednesday can't come fast enough!) I've been working on these:

They are pics of our guests from our disposable cameras edited using Photoshop and Picnik.com. I want to print them onto cards with our thank you message inside, or mount the photos inside the thank you card with photo corners or something. Do you think this is too much? I know it's not at all traditional...but who among us is ;)?
