Do I need to keep kosher, Shabbos, and follow all halacha to join this community?
No. This is community does not require you be shomer to join. I would simply hope that all Jews, regardless of their levels of observance respect eachother.
How will you know I'm a "halachic Jew"?
This community will work on the honor system. I will assume that when you ask to join, you either had an Orthodox conversion or have a Jewish mother. If I have seen you post about your Reform conversion, Conservative conversion, etc, I am going to reject your "application".
Why did you make this community?
Simple. I know there have been plenty of Orthodox/observant people that have grown tired of trying to defend themselves and halacha in the other Jewish communities on LJ. It seems silly to me that they have to hide actual Jewish law, technically whatever is making people want to convert in the first place. I also find it silly to pick and choose when it comes to religion. If you want to be Jewish so badly, be Jewish, follow the Torah, Jewish Law, be a part of a Jewish community, eat food that is kosher... Don't only pick and choose what you want to follow. Well, at least don't tell people they are a bigot when they tell you that you aren't a Jew. Hopefully, the "Who is a Jew?" argument will not exist in this community. There are far more important and interesting things to discuss about Judaism!
