I'm looking at getting a full set of clip-in human hair extensions from Additional Lengths (http://www.additionallengths.co.uk/Product_Details.asp?ProductID=56) but I was wondering if anyone had opinions on how the actual color of the hair matched the photos online. I've got one reference (someone in another community who pointed me to AL got color 22 and washed it with a silver shampoo to get it match her hair and it's much lighter than I'd thought 22 would be) but I'd like more comparisons if possible! My hair is a sort of medium-to-light brown, so depending on how true to color the images are I could be an 8 or a 10 (color chart here: http://www.additionallengths.co.uk/colourguide.asp) - if they are generally lighter than the photo, 8 might be perfect, but if they're actually pretty close then 10 seems almost perfect. Additionally, if you have opinions on the quality of the extensions feel free to share!

Has anyone tried these? I would love to know what the pros and cons were. I'm thinking of buying some instead of human hair to save $$. Can these be made into wefts? Shrinkies? Fusions? Micro links?

| Question |
[30 Dec 2008|04:19pm] |
'llo guys, just wondering one thing.
I'm going to buy clip-on extensions, but my hair is naturally curly, and I'm not sure how the curly extensions would look like. I do straighten my hair, and it reaches to the end of my neck.
The curly ones looks straighter than my real hair, and I'm thinking that if I buy them, I'd still straighten my own hair and but the curly ones on. The extensions look like this.
I'd like them more like wavy than supercurly, do you think those would be like that? They look fine in the picture, it's just that I've never seen anyone with curly extensions so I don't know at all if they look different in real life. :D
I've also been thinking that if I should just buy straight ones, but I'm afraid that it would just look ridicilous because I never get my hair 100% straight. :D

| Colour problems |
[28 Nov 2008|09:45am] |
I bought slightly auburn- brown hair extensions from Additional Lengths, They were a little off my colour so (thinking it was simple) i tried dying them (and my hair) brown so they'd match. Problem is the extensions really seemed to of picked up the red tones from the dye (quite a bit redder than my hair)
I asked my more experienced friend and she said the peroxide in the dye will have brightened the red tones already in the hair...
What would be best for me to fix this?! They cost a fair wack so i don't want to give up on them!
Details: They are real hair extensions, dyed with permanent dye.
Thanks in advance for any help!!!

I have worn extensions for so long that I thinned my hair out pretty badly and pretty much tore a lot of it to shreds. I have recently stopped wearing them because I know that my hair needs a break. I used the glue in method every time, clip in extensions just DO NOT work for me. Well, my problem is... is that I do not like the way I look with out hair extensions. I refuse to go out with out them, but my hair really needs a break. what should I do? :OS

| Synthetic Dreads in Los Angeles |
[27 Oct 2008|12:28am] |
Do any of you live in Los Angeles or know anybody in LA who can install dreads? i'm having the worst time finding somebody! I've posted in the Hair Extension Forums and Vampire Freaks. Any installationists I've found have backed out on me! I'm trying everything I can to avoid paying $400 in a swanky alternative salon, but if that's what it comes to...
And if you can't help out that way, do you have any pointers for doing a self-installation? Haha, thanks...
Sorry if this is irritating!

| 2 questions! |
[08 Oct 2008|05:51am] |
I have two beauty questions.
One is, what are some of your favorite makeup items that are water proof and smudge proof? I mean like you can put this shit on and run a marathon or swim 10 laps and your face will still be perfectly painted...
I am interested in: foundations eyeliner (liquid or pencil) eyebrow pencil (I draw mine in completely and damnit I want them to stay on after an entire night of debauchery! lipstick whatever else may come to mind...
My second question is for those of you that know hair extensions: How long can I expect these type of extensions to last: http://www.doctoredlocks.com/store/tut_cornrows_crochet.html
This will be my first time with this sort of extension and I want to kind of be able to gauge how long it will be before I can do them again... Also if you have ever done these... about how long did they take from start to finish?
NOTE! I am crossposting this in both makeup and hair communities so if you are in a hair community and know some makeup shit don't hesitate to share the mighty knowledge.

o hay guise. I've got chest-length hair that's all layered (typical scene mullet) and I'm looking to add some length and thickness to it and maybe hide some of the mullet-ey-ness, plus I've got this big bottle of hair extension glue that I'm just itching to use. basically I'm looking for a place to buy long (longer than 18") wefted human hair, in black. For cheap. I tried checking eBay but I'm afraid to get scammed, and I can't seem to find any packages of long human hair, it's all clip in sets or small strips. I'm not too worried about the quality of the hair as long as it's human, I've checked my local Sally's but they don't seem to carry anything longer than 18"
Sooo, if anybody could point me in the direction of what I'm looking for, I'd be willing to buy from eBay if it's a shop/user that can be trusted, or even if anyone has a store near them that sells hair extensions for cheap, I'd be willing to pay to have someone buy the extensions for me at an actual store and send them to me.
