Takarazuka Revue

IT'S A PHOENIX WRIGHT MUSICAL.

If you don't know who the Takarazuka Revue are, they're pretty much the top shit of the theatre world here. They're an ALL-FEMALE group and do really big, huge, over the top musicals that are absolutely amazing. We saw the girl who will be playing Phoenix (which drew a "OHSHITIT'SPHOENIX" from the audience) and had the creator of Phoenix Wright gush over the fact she was getting GyakuMyu.

Unfortunately, due to the loud audience, the speed they were talking, my own limited Japanese, and the fact I was still in "HOLY SHIT THIS IS THE GREATEST THING EVER" mode, I only caught a few details:

~It's going to be run February, 2009 in Takarazuka (I think) and Tokyo.
~It's going to have a "Love-Romance" plot in there somewhere. Like all Takarazuka shows should.
~Set in America
~They're using the American names (Crowd goes LOL at the name Phoenix Wright)
~Ranju Tomu will be playing Phoenix. She's the second ranked otokoyaku in Soragumi. Which means she's good.

Hopefully, more stuff will come up as people blog about it, and who knows, this magical CD they gave me might have more info.

PS - I have a LOT of stuff I'd like to upload eventually from this show. And I'm aware that Takarazuka is not everyones up of tea. I'm just spreading the news, filling my inbox with "Wah, where's my anime do not want" really doesn't make me rush to get my stuff scanned. So... if you can't say something nice about this news, just don't comment, and wait until something comes up from the show that you'll like.

	...holy crap. This is all the more amusing to me because my group at Otakon this year had to scrap a PW skit for the masq at the last minute, and what did we do instead? A Takarazuka skit. NEXT YEAR WE COULD COMBINE THEM. (Reply to this)

	The sienne is Ranju Tomu, nibante of Soragumi - the troupe which will be putting on the show. And seriously... I'm not even a member of this community - just a huge Takarazuka fan - and don't know how things go here. But.....Try to have a little respect for the actresses (who honestly aren't paid nearly as much as you would think) and don't pirate it if it is released. (Reply to this) (Parent)

Don't mind me for chiming in. I'm not even a member of the community, but love the games. Really I'm a huge fan of Takarazuka <3 The show will be performed by Soragumi (Cosmos Troupe) at Bow Hall in Takarazuka from 2/5 - 2/15 and at Nippon Seinenkan Hall in Tokyo, 2/24 - 3/2. The lead is Ranju Tomu, the current nibante (or second ranked) otokoyaku in Soragumi. And here's another thing: They're using the names from the American version.
