So I just beat Ace Attourney
Yesterday I beat Phoenix Wright: Ace Attourney, the first Ace Attourney game I've played...and I enjoyed it, for the most part. My main gripe is that these cases run on for way too long. I would've preferred more, shorter cases rather 5 long ones. Like, every time I felt like a case was going to end, turns out it wasn't even close to finish. I constantly wished a case would be over with already. Also, the game's pace is pretty slow, which irritated me even more. But besides that, the gameplay is solid. I played through Hotel Dusk before playing through Phoenix Wright and I definitely dig that more, mainly because of the amazing story that game has.

Oh, and I'd like to say that Case 5 was easily the best, because it actually used the DS's capabilities. Yeah, I know these games are GBA ports...the first three anyways.

...and this goes on a public community rather than your personal journal why?

Case 5 was designed specifically for the re-release on DS. Also, attourney = attorney.

Don't be a dick about it. This is straight from the profile of this comm:

"You can come here to post fanart, fanfiction, cosplay, icons, graphics, links, thoughts, whatever! As long as it relates to the games somehow, it's A-OK. Just be sure to put spoilers, large images, or content that isn't worksafe under an LJ-cut!"

So...my post is fine. I am posting my thoughts on the game, aren't I?

ummm well you do realize that pretty much everyone here has played the game right? it's just... I don't think a lot of people care? Usually, "thoughts" for the comm are like something new or funny. Maybe if you want to review on the game, you should review on amazon? O:

I can't post thoughts and see if people agree with me or not? The person who posted after you did exactly what I expected people would do. This is a community to discuss the game...the post being funny or "new" is simply a plus. Just because I'm new to the series doesn't mean I shouldn't post. =/

Perhaps it would be wiser to check the wording of your posts, if that's the case. Make questions instead of just statements, so maybe Am I the only one who thinks the pacing was slow?

It's all down to use of language and psychology.

I can sort of agree with you. In every game, I kind of felt like the second and third cases were filler. Not that they weren't awesome, but they did drag on a bit(particularly in 2-3). But the ending cases were more than enough to make up for it. And there's the humor and such to keep you going.

But you're only through the first game. You haven't hit a lot of the big stuff yet. :P Just keep playing? XD

Yeah, for sure. The fourth and fifth cases, while quite long, were also the most interesting by far. I have the other Phoenix Wright games, so I'm definitely going to play them. Not soon, though - after playing Hotel Dusk and Phoenix, I'm burned out from text-focused gameplay.

You know? I don't know. The whole time I was playing every PW game I was torn between wanting the cases to end already and never wanting it to end.

Ditto XD I wanted to get the plot moving, but didn't want the game to ever finish T_T

I find them hard to replay too, which probably adds to this. I mean... I can't read books twice very often, so... the game has no chance. XD

Well, the pacing holds the same throughout all four games. But I like it -- the only thing I didn't like was the inability to speed up the text scroll (it will skip forward on a second play-through, but that's less helpful). I found it far shorter than the text-based games I'm used to -- I'm an old-school text-adventure fan, so I'm used to loooooong, and mainly storyless games.

Unfortunately, the fourth game (which was made for DS) doesn't do (IMHO) that great of a job using the DS capabilities -- the minigames are kind of blah. It does *have* a bunch of them, though.

I have Hotel Dusk on a shelf; need to get around to that one as soon as I finish TWEWY, which I'm liking a lot more than I expected to.

(Sorry people are being a bit obnoxious on here -- this community is pretty much made up of people who identify as *fans* of the game, which means it's a little surprising to see something that I'd expect to see on a more general video-game review site. But welcome!)
