Gurugurufans! The official site was just updated with member profiles and a video clip of the PV for their upcoming CD's title track, "Chijin no koi". Check it out!

http://guruguru-eigakan.syncl.jp/index.php?p=profile

I know little about this new Gokimi character (ex-Tokyo Heroes), but it seems he's here to stay. They say he is an "official support" member and refer to this as the 3rd stage of Guruguru Eigakan.

6/10/08 02:39 pm - [info]taanya - Official Site Change

Hi guys, I just want to point out that the new AMG site I posted about is simply their new official site. That is, http://www.m-up.com/guruguru/ will not be updated anymore, and actually hasn't been since February. (Sorry I didn't notice their note about it earlier.)

8/6/07 08:21 pm - [info]taanya - Fanlisting

Hey guys!

I'm having a bit of trouble maintaining the official fanlisting. People hardly ever join, and I forget to put up the required "No one has joined lately" notice, so I end up getting warnings for inactivity. (The band isn't so active that I remember to update the site once a month.) Since the member list is pretty big, given how few English-speaking fans there are around, I wouldn't want to see it go to waste :/

Would anybody be interested in taking over?
(Inheriting the member list, moving it to your website, etc.)

7/20/07 06:11 am - [info]taanya - 太平洋ベルト News

Something I don't quite get is the price. I am almost sure the CD is supposed to cost 3000yen, but for some reason it is 1800yen on CDJapan's page. :/ Guess we'll see.

(In the meantime I'll be scanning a flyer for you guys soon :D)

Also available from CDJapan is Belt's DVD, Umikko NOW!(2): http://www.cdjapan.jp/detailview.html?KEY=DAKFCDV-2

3/18/07 08:39 pm - [info]taanya - 14歳の斜陽

Hey! Info! The new single comes out on April 25th, and Brand-X has the details up:

M-1 14歳の斜陽 (14sai no shayou)
M-2 15の朝 (15 no asa)
M-3 大人になった僕へ (otona ni natta boku e)

It's so strange to see only three of them in the photo... Oh, and the support bassist on the single is Metronome's Riu! Can't wait to hear it!

2/27/07 02:23 am - [info]taanya - News!!

If you take a look at Guruguru's April/May schedule, you will find something exciting:

4/21 Tokyo - ONEMAN (No word about the bassist yet.)
4/30 Osaka - with Metronome, Taiheiyou Belt, The Golden Spider, etc.
5/6 Nagoya - with Metronome, Taiheiyou Belt, etc.

(Fun fact: Takeya [The Golden Spider] is the guitarist of SHAME. Not sure if he's doing both, but he's definitely in SHAME.)

Guruguru will also release a CD single in April!
(I'm guessing at the oneman, details to be announced!)

:D

1/23/07 04:50 pm - [info]taanya - News!

Guruguru updated their site for the first time since Tamakoshi's "graduation".

First, they added four event dates to the schedule, all of them in March. Most are for Amano's new session band with Eiji of Himitsu Kessha CodomoA, but one date features Amano & Aniki, and actually quite a few other bands that may be of interest to you guys. If you happen to be in Tokyo around then, you might want to check this out.

03.04.2007 ART POP ENTERTAINMENT PRESENTS
学校法人 白塗り学園高等学校 (Shironuri High School, haha.)

- Amano & Aniki (Guruguru)
- Inugami Circus-dan
- SEX-ANDROID
- Shinkou Shuukyou Gakudan NoGoD
- Yoshikawa Masatoshi (Taiheiyou Belt)
- Motoki
- Kokushoku Sumire
- Kusumoto Shuusei (Gensui! Remember him?)
- ...andmore

The other days are Under Code events in Osaka (03/10), Nagoya (03/20), and Tokyo (03/21). The listing is something like this:

- Houkago Kurabu: Eiji (CodomoA) / Amano Tonbimaru SPECIAL BAND

Should be fun as well.

The other announcement was about the DVD of Tamakoshi's last live. Well, a pre-announcement, rather. Details will be posted in the near future.

12/5/06 01:11 am - [info]taanya - VK athletics

Hey everyone!

You've probably all seen it already, but I was poking around YouTube and stumbled upon that Papapapa Puffy Visual Kei Athletic Meet show from 1999. (VK bands in full makeup + athletic competition ;D)

It's absolutely hilarious and Guruguru show up quite a lot!! (Look for Tonbi doing high jump in part 2!)

Embedded! )

And the sequel... (Yoshikawa doing aerobics has to be my favorite part here xD)

10/19/06 05:37 am - [info]taanya - Goods!

Hey! Guruguru updated the AMG shop with new things! (It looks like they're just selling leftovers from the tour, so for the tour goods, they only have several left of each.)

- Ga Channel DVD (Never mind what I said about it being related to their itv show. I didn't pay attention to the descriptions, and I think they mentioned the tv show when they talked about the DVD, so I made the association, them having the same name and all. Sorry. D:) Anyway, yes! It's up for mail order! Highly recommend this. (Promise more screenshots soon! ;A;)

- Card sets Five of them! One is a hilarious rip-off of Mushi King ("Gechi King" ha!) They've even got antlers in the pics!

- GEtIS tou Pennants Yes. Pennants.

- Masu - wooden sake cups Yes. Sake cups.

- Tea pots Yes. Tea pots. (I still can't believe this.)

- Sushi tote bags Last year they had shirts with that design.

- Sushi hoodies

- Stickers, as always.

I haven't really read the order instructions, but I doubt it is possible to order from anywhere outside of Japan. :/

Here is the shop: http://www.amg-net.com/tokyo/

For those who need help navigating the website (...like me ;A; it took me ages to discover the page):
Once you click the "Online Shop" section, scroll to the bottom of the order instruction page and you will find an "Enter" button. This will take you to the actual shop page. To access Guruguru's things, you've got to select the band name check box on top of the page and click the button right below that. If you go back a few pages (past the CDs) you will see the tour goods.

10/18/06 08:00 pm - [info]misemono

Hay guys!
I recently heard Taiheyou Belt for the first time, meaning I recently got hooked really steady.
Anyway. I post here cause.. It's.. related!

Do they have a homepage or anything? I can just find a wiki page for them(wiki not working on my crappylicious computer), and I'd like to know more than the helpful info on drops :O

9/12/06 02:23 am - [info]taanya - Taiheiyou Belt DVD!

Taiheiyou Belt's "Umikko NOW!(2)" DVD, which apparently comes out tomorrow, is available for order here at CDJapan:

http://www.cdjapan.co.jp/detailview.html?KEY=DAKFCDV-2

Only 3800y/~$32! Can't wait to see it! :D

9/7/06 11:20 pm - [info]taanya - Live Clip!

Hey guys! On a lighter note, Bands-Aid uploaded another 20-minute Guruguru live clip...

...of the Osaka "Iya na shi" oneman!!

Alright, maybe I'm the only one who finds this exciting, but they did make them quite unique this year! Included in the clip:

- The beginning with the paper screen and video clips
- The Tama & Shin masked dinner skit
- Aniki and Amano doing "Tsukiyo no shabon dama"
- Shin and Aniki's performance of "Akogare..." (in Hawaiian shirts)
- Other new songs! "Futari wa otona ni narimashita"! "Iya na shi"! The other "Iya na shi"!
- The guys being terribly silly before and after the clip xD

One thing is that they make quite a few mistakes and the recording quality isn't very good, but they included some really fun things ^^ Have a look!!

http://www.bands-aid.co.jp/artist/video/live.html?whatToDo=collect&artistID=97#tv145

(It's the 2006年7月17日 / UMEDA HOLIDAY clip. The 1M version is for paid members, but the 512K and 56K ones are free.)

Enjoy!

9/4/06 01:04 pm - [info]taanya - !! - Important.

Earlier today Guruguru sent out an announcement to their mailing list --

Tamakoshi Isao is leaving the band.

Rough translation -
"It has been decided that after this fall, the bassist Tamakoshi Isao will 'graduate' from Guruguru Eigakan. [Bands often use that term when a member leaves.] We apologize for the great trouble this brings to everybody concerned and to the fans who have been supporting us, and ask that you continue to watch this with warm feelings. Details can be found in a message on Tamakoshi's official site diary. Guruguru Eigakan will continue activity, so we ask for your support from here on, also. For this graduation, we are thinking of holding 'Tamakoshi Isao's Graduation Ceremony'. The date and details will be announced in a later message."

There you have it.
Tamakoshi Isao's birthday announcement.

Amano and Tama both posted messages about this on their official site diaries.

I only glanced at these, but Tama first talks about his birthday and turning 32, thanking everyone for the birthday wishes, gifts, letters. He goes on to say that looking back on these last four years with Guruguru Eigakan, and looking ahead thinking about his future path, the desire to stop for a while and think things over has been getting stronger, and thus he made the decision to 'graduate'. He talks about his experiences with Guruguru Eigakan over these last four years and says he values everything he did and everybody he met during this time. He wants to stop for a while, still undecided about the future, but says he would like to use the experience Guruguru Eigakan has given him, and also broaden his activities. He would be happy if everybody accepted his graduation as a fresh start for him and enjoyed the remainder of his time with Guruguru Eigakan.

Amano's post is far more emotional and less optimistic. He says this graduation is the result of considering everybody's feelings - Tamakoshi's, the band's, and management's, and that he himself is reluctant to let go. There were parts I didn't quite understand, but he asks everyone to view this in the long run, and if this moves you too deeply - smile, even if you have to force yourself.

Sorry my notes aren't that great. Those of you who understand Japanese, please feel free to post better explanations/translations.

8/20/06 02:14 pm - [info]taanya - SHAME, etc.

Hey everyone!

Remember Aniki's band before Guruguru, shame? His real little brother Maeda Kazuhito is on vocals as CUTT. They did a cover of "LEMONed I Scream" for the hide Tribute Spirits CD.

Well, after breaking up in 2002, earlier this year they resumed activity as SHAME, releasing a mini-album called "EASTER EP". Currently, they are in the middle of a 'coupling tour' with the band Gargoyle. (Guruguru Eigakan also joins in for a few of the dates.)

For the tour, they released a (tour-only) split CD with Gargoyle called "SPLIT OUR SPIRIT" and made special SHAME/Gargoyle wristbands. If anybody still has a chance to see this tour, I highly recommend it! Both are wonderful bands. Initially I didn't know what to expect from SHAME, but I ended up really loving them! CUTT has a beautiful voice, and the songs themselves are really great.

If anybody wants to hear, you can find full length (!) samples of every song from "EASTER EP" on their Myspace profile, and there is a live video clip of "GET READY -we are free-" at Mina-kuru.jp:

** SHAME @ Myspace.com

** Live clip @ Mina-kuru.jp

** SHAME Official Site

** Also, CUTT has a radio show with KIBA (Gargoyle) called KIBACUTT @ livemedia.co.jp/radio

Unrelated:

- Guruguru are planning their yearly trip again. The date is set for September, like last year.
(This is a two-day trip the band takes fans on. Last year they arranged all sorts of fun things and events, I believe there was an acoustic show too.)

- Some interesting tidbits from their April Kanekodiru interview:

Although they released a series of records, apparently nobody in the band actually owns a record player! Haha, they said they listen to them on CD instead.

Aniki, Tama, and Shin didn't know until the interview about "Iya na shi"'s title being related to the release date! (18/7/4) xD "Oooohhh!! (surprise)" "I realized it just now, too!" Amano said he does a lot of things without telling anybody else. He was the only one who knew about the record jacket designs ahead of time too. :D

7/25/06 05:32 pm - [info]taanya - Live reports

Hey everyone!

This month I luckily caught two of Guruguru's three "Iya na shi" onemans. I wrote up an enormous live report about the first, and made some notes about the second - both were serious fun! People were actually not allowed to post anything online until all three were completed (spoilers), but now this is okay.

(Cut for MASSIVE LENGTH. Sorry, I may have made it a bit too detailed.)

07/08/2006 | Guruguru Eigakan "Iya na shi" Oneman @ Shinjuku Club HOLIDAY

Just like the previous year, Guruguru Eigakan released a mini-album on the 4th of July, following it up with three oneman lives - in Tokyo, Nagoya, and Osaka. This was my first time seeing them live again since last year's Tokyo oneman, and so far, just about the funnest. Onemans are where the band truly gets to do whatever they want, and considering the band we're dealing with, they really tend to go all out. Last year's show stood out in my mind because of the setlist (which included songs from "Sono mama de ii yo") and Miraiha Tantei-dan in the encore. This year I had no idea what to expect, so I came out of this thoroughly surprised.
