Hey everyone, tieran here (aka. Umachica, Ezhno, and Ponywithpaws >.> I have too many names... ) My family is being kicked out of their house soon, and I'm down to a choice of staying with them or striking out on my own and making it a little easier for all parties involved. So on that note, is there anyone in or around the Northwest Florida area that is looking for a quiet, keeps-to-herself, fursuiting pony? The closer I can get too the Destin city area, the better since I work there. However, I'm willing to look at whatever is available elsewhere too. Especially since I know Destin's rates are steep, and I can only really afford to pitch in a max of $300 a month towards rent. I can be contacted here or... AIM: Umachica MSN: harukastorm @ sailormoon.com Email: (see above :3) Thank you for your time! (x-posted like... everywhere) | | Saturday, November 29th, 2008 | 10:20 pm [chat_garou]

Beaumont?
*Howls to the group* (Yes, the jaguarundi is bi-lingual!) I'm sniffing around and toying with the idea of getting a furmeet going in my area. Anyone within driving distance of Beaumont, TX who would be interested? | | Tuesday, July 8th, 2008 | 7:36 am [jarekojosh]

Like... OMG SRSLY? I just finished watching, on YouTube, the infamous season 4 CSI episode "Fur and Loathing"... for the first time. I had not seen it until now. I have to admit: I giggled through the entire show. I'm using it as a source for my research paper this semester. If anyone can help, I'm looking for information on these topics: ☺ Meida footage from Mephit Fur Meet 2007 - the original news broadcast and the CNN clip, as well as the rumored aftermath involving discrimination lay-offs ☻ Media footage from AnthroCon 2007 and 2008 - I've seen the '07 news broadcast, but haven't seen the '08 clip yet ☺ Any periodical pieces, other than the March 2001 Vanity Fair article ( I have that one already), that portrays furries in any way My paper is on "the definition of fear within a discourse community to which I belong." I'm actually excited about this assignment and I want to do it right. Anything at all will help. The sources must be recognized by academic societies as valid. Dr. Fulton has given me a lot of room and freedom to make this paper, so entertainment and online news articles, such as Wikipedia, are good. I just have to back up the not-so-concrete sources with similar rock-hard ones. It's proving to be a LOT of work, but I hope it pays off. A tremendous amount of thanks to anyone who helps out. ~Kuron Current Mood: busyCurrent Music: Morning traffic | | Wednesday, May 28th, 2008 | 10:50 am [wolfyttwisted]

IN UR COMMUNITY ADVERTIZING...well...another community.
If this sort of thing is not allowed, feel free to delete it ._.; Being rather poorly for travel, some months ago, I set up a community for furries in my area. So far we haven't gotten any active bites so I thought about advertising. I know this place is more for people further down (southern MS and all) but I thought maybe there were a few people like me who joined because it's the closest they can get. (Corinth, Boonevill, Biggersville, Tupelo, Memphis, Places Like That, mostly North MS and the bottom tip of TN.) So here it is, CORINTH FURRIES | | Wednesday, April 23rd, 2008 | 6:01 pm [offthewall234]

Also, if you are near the MS Gulf Coast or Perkinston/Wiggins, then I can reduce the shipping, or even remove it! MAP Picnic 2008 Ok! Here we go again! And I strive to make this as easy and painless as possible.
MISSISSIPPI ANTHRO PICNIC 2008 SUNDAY, JUNE 22, 2008 HATTIESBURG, MISSISSIPPI KAMPER PARK (same place as last time: by the tennis courts) START: NOON LUNCH: 2:00 PM END: SUNSET
As much as I wish I could, I can't go broke for you guys this time 'round. THERE WILL BE A $5 HEAD CHARGE. JUST $5. In exchange, you get lots of food, tons of fun time and a badge. I prefer each attendee submit a picture. If not, a MAP 2008 Mappi badge will be issued. There will be no electronic or wireless services available, so I would advise leaving most electronics behind for this one. This is an outdoors-only thing, and the park is open to the public, so there won't be an area to store personal, expensive items. The menu is as follows (vegan variety will be available):
Hamburgers & Hotdogs with all the fixin's Potato salad Baked Beans Green salad Macaroni & cheese Potato chips Pickles Watermelon
And, of course, cupcakes
ANYONE AT ALL WHO WISHES TO VOLUNTEER IN ANY WAY, PLEASE CONTACT KURON MAREIL AS SOON AS POSSIBLE AT jarekojOSH@gmail.com. ANY AND ALL HELP WILL BE GREATLY APPRECIATED.
No guest of honor, no pre-planned activities, nothing special has really been decided, so this means we can all have a relaxed, lazy Sunday afternoon and just enjoy the weather (may sunshine prevail) and each other's company. Any and all are welcome. If anyone wants to bring anything bigger to the event, please let me know and I'm sure it'll be a hit. Thanks to you all for your time and consideration. I hope to see each and every one of you there. Until next time...

MAP Lock-in Jan. 12th-13th, 2008 Alright MS & LA furs! We got FURRY SIGN! MAP II is set! Here's the info:
WHEN: January 12th - 13th, 2007 (2nd weekend of January) WHERE: Richburg Community Center (see aerial picture below) MapQuest directions WHAT TIME: 3:00 PM SATURDAY DINNER @ 8 PM: Cici's Pizza MIDNIGHT CUPCAKE SNACKAGE SUNDAY BRUNCH: Pancakes & Fruit, milk and orange juice ACTIVITIES INVOLVED: card games, foam sword fighting, multiplayer video games, cooking lessons, charity discussion, art lessons, equine and feline tail-making, lessons, fandom discussion, MST3K "The Final Sacrifice", 3-legged race, and much more!
Any new furs that you know of from Mobile and Gulfport to Jackson and Vicksburg, feel free to invite them and send them a link to our groups so that all can keep in contact with one another. We still need volunteers to help with cleaning and cooking and keeping everything under control.
One of our goals during discussion time is to ask each person attending for just ONE thing they would like to do as a furry group and then try to make it happen. At our picnic, we agreed to have a serious furry discussion about our views within and on the fandom. That's what I wanna make happen. So, there needs to be a list of discussion topics that we missed.
Dinner plans are Cici's Pizza on Hardy Street. It's less than 3 miles away from the community center. It's "going dutch" since we don't have the available funds to pay for everyone. The cost is $6.98 per person; this includes the pizza, dessert pizza and salad buffet and a drink.
If you would like a badge for this meet, we can make them for $2 a piece (cash or coins only). Please email a fursona picture of your choice to jarekoj...@gmail.com with complete details with any text you would like to have on it; I have mine below as an example. Portrait or landscape orientation is fine. You may choose to have the MAP II logo or not. Each badge will be resized and printed 3"x5" then laminated, resulting in a size near 3.5"x5.5". Clips are available, but each badge will be punched to accommodate a basic lanyard or ribbon. At this time, we are unable to mail out any badges sent in for laminating if you are unable to attend, unless otherwise specified and approved. Badges won't be needed as there is no admission or need to keep track of attendees after registration. Registration is requested, but not mandatory. This is only for obtaining everyone's information to be able to keep you updated with what's going on and furry outings in South Mississippi and surrounding areas.
Unfortunately, it will have to be "BYO-Blankie", which means bring-your-own-bedding. This means Styrofoam chairs, air mattresses, pillows, blankets, giant plushies, sleeping bags and whatever else you would like, since the flooring is tiled. There is a kitchen and his and her bathrooms. Pets are allowed, as long as they can get along with other people and their pets. kennels and cages won't be available, but feel free to bring your own. No alcohol is allowed due to under-aged attendees. No illegal substances are allowed either. Of course, cigarettes and cigars are allowed but will have to be smoked outside. There is not an awning or covered area outside to accommodate smokers; I apologize. I will not state the consequences if any rules or laws are broken, for several reason. I'm not a cop, but this fur meet is for everyone to enjoy and I feel that we don't need such "additives" to ensure our fun.
We will be celebrating two birthdays this year! Kos Aldrus & Savaaha d'Loren will be our Guests of Honor. There will be cake and ice cream for everyone.
Now, on to more serious things. First and foremost, MAP (the Mississippi Anthropomorphic Picnic) is a realization of our immediate fur community. There is a lot of dissention about furries and what they represent. As every other group, community, fandom, and even socially deviant labels, we do have our extreme lows and highs. I believe, as a whole, it should be one of our goals to show and maintain a presence that undoes withstands any negative attitudes towards us. We can achieve this by discussing adopting a charity, how many times to hold MAP to expand, our ventures to other meets and cons (not necessarily furry) and people who want to bear the burden and responsibility of committing themselves to MAP and its survival. Kos Aldrus has been appointed chairman-elect and so far has not been challenged; personally, I think he's the best choice, especially since he started this crazy Katamari. If we deem it necessary to elect officers or at least people to be responsible for the crucial parts of MAP, that too can be arranged. With that being said, everyone get to posting! LET'S GET THIS PARTY STARTED! Current Mood: accomplishedCurrent Music: "Play That Funky Music, White Boy" | | Friday, October 19th, 2007 | 3:14 am [jarekojosh]

We're going to be handing out special Megaplex 2007 MUGS! These glass mugs are great for your favourite beverage...and, they'll feature a special design by Herbie! However, we'll be judging how many mugs to order by the number of pre-registrations we get. If you pre-reg, you *will* get a mug. ( Here's what the design looks like! )T-shirts are only $12 for sizes S-2XL. By pre-ordering, you will guarantee yourself a shirt - and the shirts will be more expensive at the con, as well as available only in limited numbers. Woohoo!
Hello :3 I'm Rolan or B and I'm moving to Jackson, MS sometime! Maybe really soon! None of you guys know me aside from Lacrimas and err... Anjel, kinda >.> But you will! Anyway, I'm just trying to make friends :3 Cause then it's on. If I come off as an idiot knobtard, it's prolly cause I am! But I'm an idiot knobtard panda who goes straight flipmode and uhh.. punches bums! Well... Not really, mostly. I'm not lame, I promise >.< Dammit! Be friends with me cause I won't have many friends in the area and I totally look like someone who'd probably get rocked about the head and shoulders by fag-haters and drug dealers and pretty much anyone :3 I like to party! All kinds of party! I'm most likeable when drunk, but that doesn't mean that I won't get crazy and do 2 1/2 backflips without the sauce in me. Huh, I'm coming off as a total meat head. I uhhh... I like to spend long hours reading websites and stuff, and enjoy long walks by pretty much anything that's not punching me, ooh, and I got kissed by a lake once! I love moles :D So huh, are you guys impressed yet? :3 No? Well it gets better. I also draw and stuff so anyone who befriends me gets pictures when I'm not being a lazy ass, even though the 80s tought me better than to try and win affection by material means. Doot doot dooot! My boyfriend beeps sometimes, it's so cute! >.< Oh yeah, he lives in Jackson and that's who I'm moving to. So huh, I prolly shouldn't have dropped those names earlier, cause now those mentioned are gonna get super embarrassed that they know me. I'm totally worthwhile, I swear ;3 Give me a chance and I'll do something strikingly similar to rocking your world, unless that means sex. If it means something really sweet that isn't sex, then it prolly means that. Yeah. My favorite color is orange! I don't have ADHD and although I do hail from Arizona, I'm not a crystal meth addict. I smoke PCP, tsshh. Not really. I only smoke cigarettes and.... something... but both of those are legal! I just get excited about stuff :3 I'm totally stoked to be invading the south and I hope to acquire an accent as soon as possible so I can fit in. Any lessons would be greatly appreciated. So I think I'll end this now before I get kicked out of the group and/or teased mercilessly for my idiotic word vomit. If anyone would like to contact me, my AIM SN is Muhana X! Woo! Or just comment on my journal or something. Anyway, I love you guys and that's definitely not me outside all of your windows right now. Texas Ren. Fair - Oct. 7th
(Crossposted to a few places) Hi all! I'm going to be at the Texas Renaissance Fair October 7th. Please respond if you might want to do something. Thanks! Current Mood: curiousCurrent Music: TV | | Monday, August 14th, 2006 | 9:21 pm [dragonheadthing]

Dragoncon 2006
Hi! (I will probably cross-post this to a few other lj groups.) Dragoncon is getting closer so I thought I would make a post just for it. I was hoping that we could somehow organize a small fur get-together at Dragoncon. This will be my first Dragoncon though so I really have no idea what goes on there. I would start a "dragoncon furs" lj group, but I'm not really good at the whole maintaining a community thing. Current Mood: curiousCurrent Music: Schnappi - Llama song |
