play along CDs
Hello- I am looking for CDs that have different chord progessions so that I can try out different melodies in different keys and know what it would sound like with the chords. Do yall know anything like this? I'd prefer them to be sort of simple and maybe sort of slow because I am not very good. I found the Let's Jam set and Jam Along series and the Jam Tracks series. Any opinions of these or know if they would be good? Thanks.

There are a shitload of good sites that have free jam tracks...I just downloaded some for myself a few weeks ago, I like them. I dunno if they're what you're looking for, though. Mostly blues progressions.

The way I do it is that I record progressions myself, put them on a CD and them jam along with it on my tascam or on my amp with the volume down on my stereo. That might be suitable for you too>

There are two websites which are great...one is http://www.visionmusic.com/jamtracks.html

That one has actual songs from all genres. There are only a limited number for free, but I pay for the minimum membership, and it's well worth it to have all the songs unlocked for a mere fifteen bucks every 6 months (they say 3 months, but give you 6, for some reason).

Another one is www.bluesblast.com

There are varied genres there as well, and they are real musicians playing, not MIDI. They are all free.

Hope this helps somewhat.
