TTC Subway Stops
60 icons. Comment, credit, no hotlinking.

Inspired by the TTC buttons at Spacing.ca, I decided that clearly the people of Toronto need icons to match! Just a couple of notes:

  1. I didn't do the Sheppard line nor the Scarborough RT, mostly because 60 icons was already too many.
  2. Each of the stations that have two lines running through them (Spadina, St. George, Yonge/Bloor) only have one icon each, rather than one for each line.
  3. The tile patterns are based off of this image as well as this explanation of the tile colour schemes. Colours had to be approximated as a result, and thus there may be some errors. Sorry!

I'd also like to issue the Transit Icons Challenge:
  1. Create a set of icons based on a transit system you are familiar with. It could be the London underground, the Paris metro, the New York subway system, anything you want.
  2. Post them wherever you regularly post icons; comment in this entry with a link to your icons.
  3. At the end of the challenge, I'll post a master list of all the entries that have been submitted.
Submissions are due March 19, 2006 at 5pm EST.

As big as you want it to be. I did 60 because that's how many stops were in the two subway lines that I chose to do, but you can do as many or as few as you want/require.

Actually, most of them are pretty ugly, but I blame the TTC and their decor choices rather than myself. I have a fondness for Spadina, though, it's so ugly it's kind of appealing. :D

Nice!! I saw some people with pins like that and have wondered where they got them. I took the Union, St. Clair, St. Clair W., and Queen ones. Great work!

It's a great, original idea. Thanks! :D

Yeah, they're also thinking of renaming Osgoode "Osgoode-Opera" once the Four Seasons Centre opens in September.

What a cool idea. Maybe I'll try it except that most of the subway stations are just named after the streets they're on -- e.g., 9th Avenue; 25th Street. Fun fun. :)

Hey, those are cool. You definitely captured the public washroom aesthetic of so many of the stations. ;p

And the challenge is tempting...the Montreal metro design is just stylish ugly enough that if I could figure out a way, it could make good icons. Also, if I wasn't so lazy.

LOL @ Yorkdale and Lawrence West. Clumps of concrete! Although, if you had made Lawrence West with those ugly scary round yellow vent things, I would have run screaming. I can't go through that station with my eyes open. They freak the crap outta me.

OK, I gave it a go: 20 London Underground Icons. Pretty simple, with sort of colour-coded stripes.

Only 20 for now, but I might well add more at some point - the thing is there are so many Tube stations I could make icons of them for the rest of my life and not finish them all, so I just concentrated on the most well-known ones. :)

I really wanted Jane to be superfantastic just for you, and then when I finally got around to making it I was like "GAH! JANE! WHY MUST YOU HAVE SUCH BORING TILES?!" It occurs to me, though, that I should have stuck silhouettes of birds all over Old Mill, cause that would have been awesome.
