Friday 26th June. Word. Ed's twittering appears to be reaching some kind of crescendo. Many entries and barely a post goes by that doesn't contain exclaimation marks. I wonder if this is on the verge of burning out. I wouldn't mind returning to a slower, more mellow blog service personally. Twitter can just get to be abit... frantic. |

![]() Yup, that's right, Veckatimest is currently number eight in the Billboard charts. I have no idea what to make of this, except for the fact that perhaps quite alot of people bought this based on Two Weeks and are now thinking "Wtf?". Or maybe the entire indie community has had a call of conscience and mostly paid for their copies for a change. Or maybe there's been a mass outbreak of good taste in America. I have no idea, but basically it's got to be good, yes? It's a work of uncompromising quality, one can only hope this trend continues. Incidentally, this is out next week You know you want some. |

Edit: these Interface videos are so good I thought I'd embed them. Enjoy - ( More: Cheerleader, While You Wait for the Others, Two Weeks ) Wow. Probably my favourite GB live recording since Live at the Bowery. I just can't believe how good Dan's singing is these days as well... Ed looks like he could drop to the floor at any moment but he and the rest of them all sound BEAUTIFUL. This is why I get up in the morning! |

Continuing GB Week, DiS have posted Ed&Bear's recipe for Gumbo: http://drownedinsound.com/in_depth/4136 I love the idea that they spend all day in the studio creating something as beautiful as Veckatimest and then go home and sit round a table and eat something as good as that. I love scallops :D There's also a roadtrip mixtape by Chris Bear which is temporarily available here: EDIT: Cailet from Fine For Now has re-uploaded this: http://www.megaupload.com/?d=CXJ9IO It's called The North Wind Blew South, here's the tracklisting 1. Yes, its now finally, completely, officially OUT, EVERYWHERE (I think). And, as if you needed any more proof of why Drowned in Sound is better than Pitchfork, it's currently Grizzly Bear Week over at the UK-based website: Click! DiS have collected together their previous in-depth pieces, the new review of Veckatimest and if Ed's Twitter is anything to go by, a new interview should be up there soon. Pitchfork have also given Veckatimest a 9/10. Good for them. Recent journalism on the band also includes Dan being interviewed for FasterLouder (click!), Ed being interviewed for Rose Quartz (click! - credit to Dory), and an article on the band for the New York Times (click!). A large selection of printed journalism, including the new Spin article, is currently available to read in full in the press section of the GB website, see here: click!. There has also been a tiny flash of life on the Department of Eagles website to mark to release of Veckatimest. One assumes it's Fred posting, saying go out, buy it, it's great. All wise words. Judging by the FasterLouder interview, there is a quite significant possibility that the release of the No-One Does It Like You video was the last major manouvre of the Dept. of Eagles project, and we may not see any more output from them for several years, if at all. I very much hope this is not the case. I maintain they should do a double-headline tour with GB, if Dan can cope. But if it is, it was great while it lasted. Thanks guys, it was beautiful. |

Alternative downloads are also being posted on the Fine For Now Forum: Click! Also, if you fancy it, the session is being streamed over at WNYC: Click! My copy of Veckatimest only just shipped today so I personally won't be listening to any of these until it gets here, :D Also, over at the GB Newspage there's just been posted a list of Veckatimest Listening Parties happening this Monday at a large number of locations across the US, with quite a few including freebies and giveaways, etc. Even if you've already heard the record, I'm sure it'd be fun. Full list (it's looong) over here: Click! |

but the blog is back: woop! However, since we now have the five-times-daily Ed Tweet feed, maybe some of the other guys should start blogging it up more often, otherwise the two media are just going to be duplicating information. Blog entry, Mr. Taylor? |
