Welcome to Green politics! The single issue is: "Our whole planet". Most other parties are Grey :-) This community is an open forum for discussion of anything relating to Green politics, particularly in the UK. Have fun, and be nice.
Green Parties are a fast growing and progressive force in politics in the British Isles. Greens campaign on many diverse issues, including social justice, human rights, regulation of business, and equal opportunity, as well as the environment (domestic policy, and global issues such as climate change).
Taken together, UK Green parties have two MEPs, seven MSPs, one Peer, two London AMs, 92 principal authority Councillors, a number of Town, Parish and Community Councillors, and a Senator in the States of Jersey. However, there are no Green MPs nor Welsh AMs yet. That's due in part to the 'first past the post' UK electoral system: Greens support electoral reform, favouring Proportional Representation. In the 2005 UK General Election, Greens contested 200 of the 646 available seats, and polled 1% of votes cast - arguably, worthy of 20 MPs!
