Common courtesies to consider:
This community exists to offer a forum for the discussion and discovery of ways we can reduce our impact on the Earth's ecosystems.
There are many small steps we can take to help reduce our impact, from straightforward protest of industrial and economic excesses, to the promotion and development of products that are nonpolluting, recyclable, and reductive of waste.
The effort to create a green, sustainable future, to leave the planet in a better condition than we inherited, is always an uphill struggle. Reasonable, peaceful and moderate solutions may be more feasible in today's social climate than radical ones.
Please be respectful. If you disagree with ideas you see here, please state your case in a way that is reasoned and logical. Insulting behavior will merit exclusion from further involvement in this community.

Monthly Community Earth Hour For those unfamiliar with Earth Hour: it's simply a statement against climate change and our inefficient use of energy resources, that involves turning off all electrical appliances and lights for one hour of the day. We felt this ought to be done more often than once a year! The Monthly Community Earth Hour is held on the last day of every month. Official Earth Hour website Earth Hour November is happening on Monday, November 30th, from 8-9pm local time. |
The Every two weeks, the members of the community (and anyone else who wants to, really) are encouraged to participate in a set challenge that aims to reduce an individual's negative impact on the environment and promotes eco-friendly habits. A green lifestyle is not about stopping what we enjoy doing for the sake of the environment - it's about reducing the negative ecological impact these actions have, because the key to a sustainable future is a mutualistic relationship between man and nature. Fortnight Challenge #4: Discussion: Priorities within a 'Green Lifestyle' Previous few challenges: Fortnight Challenge #3: Grow Your Own Plants Fortnight Challenge #2: Avoiding car travel Fortnight Challenge #1: Plastics and water bottles For a full list, please see this entry or use the tag to navigate within the community. |
