I'm using Adobe Photoshop 7.0 and I'd love to hear how I could improve ( my icons )

I just finished this userinfo banner with Peter and Claire on my mind.

Anyways, I really like the outcome, but the text/font seems a little blah to me. Any suggestions for a different font or techniques to get the text a little cleaner looking? Lyrics are from the Rent soundtrack, because I'm in mourning over here.

This is the first time i'm trying to make headers collage with textures and patterns using different blendings. I would really appreciate constructive criticism. Let me know what you think, how to improve and suggestions.

I'm using Photoshop CS, and i've been learning to make icons for 2-3 months now. My icons use too much brushes and my cropping and blendings are not very good. Any help would be much appreciated. Thank you.
