6:41 pm - Help With Makeup!!
|

The con is about a month and 1/2 away but I want to get a headstart on the details like makeup. My outfit is almost complete---all I need is a purse and a light petticoat. But I'm still unsure about makeup---how heavy does it need to be? My outfit is kind of cute/goth/EGL so I'm thinking black eye liner, a little eye shadow, and whiten the face a bit--just keep it simple. But it's the pale complexion part I'm having the most difficulty with---how do you achieve a few shades whiter without looking like a geisha???? XD

This is my outfit so far::::

But I desperately need help with accessory ideas!! The collar on the shirt is too high for a choker--so I was thinking of going with a brooch but I don't know what kind would work... And I'm thinking this outfit is EGL loli---so no major goth symbols like skulls, it's too cute XD Any ideas? Do roses fit? Or should I go with classic crosses?? I need a theme!!
NEED TO MAKE: Purse (probably draw string satin/silk pouch) Petticoat (the skirt is already really full--so a light under-skirt) Lace wristband to extend the lace over my hand (I need to decide on buttons)--It will have a satin ribbon edged w/lace on both sides Hair accessories like ribbons

11:58 pm - tall beginner looking for guidence and feedback
|

hi, I'm going to a sci-fi/geek con in a month and a half, and would like to go as a sweet gothic lolita or steampunk lolita. I'm very new to the styles, and have read some of the guides online, but am still unsure on styling, ie what types of styles look best together or with certain body types. I was looking for some advice, and maybe someone who would be interested in helping me put together an outfit online, and also giving me feedback online.
I'm a tall transgender girl 6' thin, but still a bit large in proportion, shoulder length curly brown hair. What types of styles/designs would work best for my body type? would anyone who's familiar with the style be interested in IMing with me to bounce ideas, and feedback, while I'm shopping on the net?
thanks.

Kamikaze Girls
(Shimotsuma monogatari)
Japan 2004. Director: Tetsuya Nakashima
Cast: Kyoko Fukada, Anna Tsuchiya, Hiroyuki Miyasako, Sadao Abe, Eiko Koike
Director Tetsuya Nakashima's weird and wonderful Kamikaze Girls is based on a best-selling novel by Novala Takemoto, a fashion designer and cult writer with a devoted following amongst young Japanese women in the “Lolita” fashion scene. Opening with a shôjo animated sequence, the film chronicles the odd friendship between prissy Momoko (J-pop star Kyoko Fukada), a bored country girl obsessed with the frilly-dress lifestyle of 18th-century France, and sneering, snarling Ichiko (J-pop star Anna Tsuchiya), a tough-talking biker chick. “Gorgeous and energetic ... As exciting for its beautifully specific and honest portrayal of teenage girls and their friendships as it is for its dazzling visual and narrative style, Kamikaze Girls is a glorious blend of kitsch, grit, humour and uplift that borrows freely from various Japanese subcultures and films such as The Outsiders and Kill Bill ... [It] captures the appeal of the fashion subcultures of aesthetes and misfits, re-creating a rarefied atmosphere in which identity creation is a thoughtful, idealistic art” (Carina Chocano, Los Angeles Times). “Wildly ironic fun ... stylistically Kamikaze outdoes Tarantino at his own flamboyant game ... It is less a comedy than a full-on live-action manga” (Andrew Sun, Hollywood Reporter). Colour, 35mm, in Japanese with English subtitles. 100 mins.
