COMMUNITY RULES


1. The purpose: Members join to debate about topics relating to politics. Anyone who has an opinion is welcome. It's not restricted to Republicans and Democrats. Socialists, fascists, whatever.

2. Avoid going off-topic. Try to keep all posts related to political issues.

3. Swearing is allowed. If you don't like it, join another community.

4. Please NO deleting comments and freezing posts. Because that's just a lame thing to do. If you would like to freeze a post, talk to one of the mods about it first.

5. No ass-hattery. A little bit of cheekiness is okay. That tends to happen in debate. Just don't go overboard. Most of our members have their snarky moments, but we all realize it's nothing personal. We just get riled up during debates. Avoid childish name-calling and such. It tends to lower the quality of debate. We all get along pretty well, and we'd like to keep it that way.

6. Banning policy: Only three people have ever been banned. Two for obvious trolling. And one for being an ass and a general nuisance (after multiple warnings). We don't ban often. Officially, you're only supposed to get one warning before you can be banned. In reality, we usually give people more chances. Banning usually only happens when an individual proves him/herself to be a persistent problem and a constant disruption. We don't resort to banning every single time someone gets their feelings hurt.

7. What to do if you're being harassed: If you feel like you're being harassed by someone, please contact a mod and provide us with links to where you feel someone crossed the line. DON'T dedicate an entire post to it because that tends to annoy people and causes more drama. We've learned that from experience. DON'T bother us if someone is merely being snarky. We're busy people and this is a political debate community, after all. But if someone is persistently personally attacking you, please let us know and we'll keep it confidential.

8. When you join, please post a new member intro. We like to get to know our new members. Please post it under an LJ cut. Put your answer outside of the </b> code. You may copy and paste it from the text area below. If there's any question you're not comfortable answering, you can just delete it.

If you know anyone who enjoys good debate, please promote. It's not a requirement to join or anything. The more, the merrier, though. We're currently experiencing a shortage of Republicans, especially those on the religious right. However, any new members from any party or independents would be very welcome.
