This strike is in light of the recent asshattery of Livejournal/SUP, in which, along with continued deception of their userbase, there was a targeted removal of certain popular interests such as 'fanfiction', 'slash', and 'bisexuality'.
Obviously, the mods here at
goodbandfic have a vested interest in this situation as this community would be directly affected by that sort of discrimination. In light of that (and the fact that, personally, I feel it's a matter of moral imperative) goodbandfic will be joining in the strike.What this means for you:
We will be going on moderated posting from Thursday night to Saturday morning, and we will not be approving any posts for twenty-four hours starting at 12:00am GMT on Friday, March 21. I apologize in advance for any inconveniences this will cause you. I hope that you can understand (if not agree) with our reasons. Rest assured that, after that time, we'll go right back to your regularly scheduled boy-sex.
I'd like to urge all of you to participate in the strike as well. (After all, it's only a day, and, who knows, maybe you can use the time away from posting and reading to get some sweet fics written! \o/) And whether or not this has any real, detrimental affect on SUP, I believe it's all about principle. It's important to let them know that we don't support these kind of decisions. And if we don't stand up for ourselves, who will?
