First off welcome to the new folks and "yes this community still exists" to all the old folks.
How about we get this leg of the OC Revolution back up and running with a challenge.

The Gonzo Summer Challenge

Take a gander at the quote below and find some inspiration in it. Submissions may be of any length (two paragraphs to two hundred pages--I don't give a damn). You may submit original work, fanfic or some gonzo-worthy hybrid of the two. There are no ratings to worry about, but to be fair to those who might be freaked out by gratuitous sex and dropping of the f-bomb please "rate" yourselves accordingly. If you've questions, ask right here.

Alrighty Gonzoteers...
Let's all shoot for putting a little lurve on the paper in the next week. A lot of you guys are doing Nano, might as well practice abusing yourselves.
Additionally, I know some of you guys (JL and Layren in particular) are afraid of the mushy gushy, but fear not we've Pandora and GAV here to show us how. 
AND a special warm welcome for my old pod-sisTanathir who writes some steamy Agent Smith smuth. 

I love deadlines, especially the breeze when they whoosh past your ear.
To hell with the 27 Sept dead line on the Gonzo Challenge, let's say...7 October instead.

The Idea: Most good ideas are born of soap suds and lukewarm water pounding against one's head, this community is no different. 

The Confession: I've written nearly two hundred pages of Star Wars fanfic and only made ten allusions to anything remotely connected to SW. 

The Manifesto: 

Today is the birthday of Gonzo Fanfiction* a subversive movement from the shadow lands between fan and original fiction. This is the call to arms for all original fiction writers who've been hiding in the recesses of fanfic plying their stories to hapless readers under the auspices of a fandom that has become tangential to their raison d'etre for writing. We are writers who are guilty of innocently duping our readers into reading our original stories without them knowing it.  We are not insidious or malicious in our efforts, simply our original stories and characters have proven too big to hide. 

Let us begin with a definition from our friends at wikipedia.org to set the mood...

Gonzo journalism is a style of reporting that mixes fiction and factual journalism. It uses an unconventional, exaggerated and highly subjective style, often including the reporter as part of the story. It is used to describe the style of American journalist Hunter S. Thompson, among others.

Now allow me to contribute my own definition...

Gonzo Fanfiction is a style of fanfiction that mixes fanfic with original characters, locations and plotlines. Writers write within the context of a particular fanfic, but utilize elements of character and location that can stand alone as original works if the stories were slightly modified from the fanfiction submission. It is a subversive movement within fanfic to bring together individuals writing highly original fiction, but using the fanfic communities and readers for feedback purposes. Gonzo Fanfiction is an outlet for original fiction writers to interact with an active reading community and develop the writing skills necessary to produce successful original fiction. 

Gonzo Fanfiction is a by-product of the OC Revolution. The OC Revolution has aimed to help clear innocent OCs and their writers of the crimes perpetrated by countless hollow Mary Sues and other poorly written avatars.  The OC Revolution seeks to support and encourage the use of dynamic original characters in fanfic over out-of-character interpretations of canon characters or excessive use of AU scenarios, e.g., Anakin Skywalker does not turn to the Dark Side and instead becomes a pastry chef at the Coruscanti version of the Four Seasons. OC Revolutionaries are committed to the eradication of Mary Sues everywhere. 

Gonzo Fanfiction is a community to unite Gonzo Fanfic writers in all fandoms. If you've not seen a canon character in pages and original characters and plotlines spark the comments like "I forgot I was reading fanfic" come and join our ranks. If you're a faithful member of the OC Revolution, please join us here.  If you are interested in writing Gonzo Fanfiction this is place to be or hell, if you'd just like read a bunch of weird stories that pop up in fanfic and don't really have a damn thing to do with the fandom they're written in for the love of all things bright and shiny sign on--think of this as extreme OC writing. 

This community is for members only, but open to writers/readers in all fandoms of all skill levels. Story and post content will not be censored or confined to "family friendliness" so if you're under 18 you've been warned.  Additionally, no "dramah" will be tolerated, this is not associated with TFN in any way shape or size and I can say "fuck" at will.
