A HORSE RACING COMMUNITY.
A hushed silence falls over the grandstand, each body leaning forward on the edge of the hard, plastic seats. Silence. Suddenly, the bell screams through the air and the gates crash open to the sudden movement of the crowd. A dozen thoroughbreds burst forward, digging into the dirt with sharp hooves. An absolute thundering of horseflesh, a rainbow of silks and calls from steady jockeys upon their backs as they head into the turn, settling into position along the backstretch. The blur of chestnut, bay, black and gray move together in a dance, some moving forward, some dropping back, but always moving as a beautiful herd as they make their way along the harrowed track before thousands of cheering fans. A break in the pack sends one moving forward, hurridly driven forward by pure instinct and lust for the game. Into the clubhouse turn, heading towards the vibrating grandstand, absolute pulsating with energy. One leader, brilliant in their quest, grinds in deep and finds more to propel to the finish before all the others, leaving the rest in its wake. The crowd erupts with the thrill of it, the jockey stands high in the stirrup, pumping his fist into the air with a single index finger pointed ,skyward. Love the thrill of the race? Welcome home, friends.
