Save the Sideshow!
Right! I've been in contact with GNW TV, the brilliant production company behind The Sideshow. They've given me some details on how we can save The Sideshow (and I've dug up some details of my own).

The ABC switchboard is at (02) 8333 1500. From there, you can ask to be transferred to Complaints, or Consumer Affairs. You can also ask to speak to Programming (under Television). If you feel like going up high, the Executive Producer on The Sideshow for the ABC's side is Megan Harding, and the head of ABC TV is Kim Dalton.

Another tip - watch the show tomorrow night and note down any interesting names or positions for the ABC that you can contact.

For a more textual approach, the ABC's Have Your Say message board is located here, although I can warn from personal experience that it takes ages for anything to happen on there, and sometimes topics don't show up at all.

For a main approach, you can use the ABC Contact Us form. Make sure to note that this is a Complaint, that you require a reply, and that the program in question is The Sideshow.

And finally, I've made a petition here. Spread this link to everyone you can think of! Message boards, other communities (I'm tackling tv_australia, abc_comedy and aussielj, but please spread this to any others you can think of!), random strangers in the street... the more names we have, the more successful we'll be.

Good luck!

Posted it to my journal and my deviantART journal as well, and I'll start talking to folks I know who enjoy the show to spread the word.

Now Phase Two: get my finger out and get on to ABC :3

Certainly will! Sent a nice long letter to the ABC, and I circulated the petition around to a few people I know.
I also posted the link to this entry over on the MOSH! boards' Sideshow thread as well :) As I think of more places to post, will do so! I don't want The Sideshow to go away ;____;

I've just linked to this post on the Tripod forum. I don't know if any of the other artists have forums, but if they do and anybody here's on them...

I know Claire has a MySpace, but I don't use MySpace myself so I dunno what we might be able to do there - seems like a good place to spread the word around, if anyone does have a MySpace.

Claire, Cameron and Tripod all have Myspace pages that I know of. I'll do some posting there and search around for anyone else Sideshow-relevant. Does anyone else knows of other Sideshow-ers on Myspace? I think GUD might have one and whilst I'm not sure about the Umbies, I know there's quite a few Fake-Umbies pages there which'll do us fine!

Tim minchin has a myspace (here)... he's popped up on the show a bit
also a lot of the comedians (arj barker, josh thomas, etc) that have been on the sideshow have myspaces that are fair easy to find if you search comedy

Depends when you were last there, I suppose. The forum got spammed out so they put up a new one about... five months ago. There were probably a lot more members on the old one because it was there longer, but how many of them actually posted frequently I couldn't tell you. Probably more than now though, I guess.

But of course, yes, I suppose it is possible that you are thinking of different forums. I wouldn't know, really. :P

Posted a link on aussietorrents to the petition - and noted the 59th sig on the petition - I think the word is spreading nicely.

Also, got my mum to sign and am currently twisting other arms of friends and family to get them to the computer.

Can i sign on behalf of my dog do you think? He likes to howl along with the musical acts (particularly the Kransky's and That 1 Guy from the first eppy).

What's happened? I'm a fan from the UK. I only get to watch what's on the web page and YouTube, but I recently sent an email to ABC saying how much I enjoy my Mondays now I've got the updates to look forward to. Is it true it's going to be cancelled? If so, when? I already signed the petition, btw.

It was announced at the last taping that the ABC isn't planning on renewing it for next year. The same thing faced other shows (by the same production company) called Good News Week (which was hosted by Paul, too) and The Glass House after their first years, and it was only due to the rallying of the fans that they survived. In in that case, GNW went on for another four years, and Glass House for another five!
