About:

First and foremost, thanks so much to Say_Aye and Nemesi for once again allowing me to use their pictures of our darlings Erestor and Glorfindel for the purposes of this competition. Also thanks to Becky W, Ani Mama, Bone Fauna, Sildir and Luand for the use of their artwork for the first time. And of course the prizes shall be badges and magnets again which contain pictures by these very talented artists. So, without their approval, none of this would have happened. THANKS GUYS! *hugs* Be sure to thank them for their generosity if you have a chance, I'm sure they'd really appreciate it.

Onto the contest:

ERESTOR/GLORFINDEL FANFIC AND FANART COMPETITION!!!

Basic Rules:
The main pairing and focus of the story/artwork has to be Erestor and Glorfindel.
You can have other side pairings, or Erestor & Glorfindel in different relationships, but they have to be together at some point in the story, and be the main pairing/focus of that story.
All other characters are SECONDARY to Erestor and Glorfindel, even if those characters that are partnered with Erestor and/or Glorfindel.

Other than that, let your minds go wild! AU, Mpreg, set in Gondolin, Imladris, Grey Havens, across the sea, modern day, anything goes! They can be young, VERY old, dead, re-born, re-incarnated whatever! Doesn’t matter. It’s up to you!

It has to be a one-off story. You can only have multi-parts, provided it is all written within the time frame of the competition, and it is all posted at one time. Meaning that you post chapter 10 at the same time as you post chapter 1! You must save all the chapters until the story is complete and post it all at the same time. The story must be properly structured – it must contain a beginning, middle and end. It cannot be left to be continued at a later date. Though if you chose to do a sequel later on, I will not stop you. However, for the purposes of this competition your story must be able to stand alone.

There is no minimum or maximum length. Whenever you, the author, feels the story has reached its climax, is when it is time to end.

There is no limit to the amount of times you can enter.

Your story/picture has to be original and written/drawn within the timeframe of this competition. It cannot have been posted before.

However, if you are submitting a picture, the image protrayed may be from a scene from an old story, however the pictures itself must be new.

If there is more than one author/artist that worked upon an award-winning story/picture, the coinciding prize shall be split up between them.

This competition will be run on LiveJournal (LJ) at the specially created community: http://community.livejournal.com/glorestor/ Please note, you will need to JOIN the community, not just friend it in order to post.
You must email me your story when it is complete too: morgenne.kemp@yahoo.com.au
You must post your story at the LJ Community. Please do not post anything other your stories here unless it is absolutely necessary.
If you do not have a LJ account and do not wish to attain one please tell me in your email and I shall post on your behalf.
There is a yahoo group - http://au.groups.yahoo.com/group/glorestor/ - for any discussions that you want to have. You may also post your works there.

All entries must be in by no later than 11:59pm GMT August 31st, 2008.

Judging:
The contest will be decided by a panel of 4 or 5 judges. So far there is myself, Eliriel and Orleans. The others will be announced once they have been confirmed. If anyone is interested, I will be posting a request for judges shortly.
NO JUDGE WILL BE ALLOWED TO ENTER THE CONTEST.
***HOWEVER*** if one would like to enter the fanart category, then they can still judge the stories, and vice versa.

Winners & Prizes:
YES!!! There are PRIZES!!!
HOWEVER!!! These are not just pretty banners, they are real and will need to be sent to you. If you do not wish me to know your home address, then please do not enter. I promise I will not release this information to anyone else and will only request your address if you are among the winners.

The prizes are still being organised and shall be available well before the end of the competition. They are the same as last year, badges, magnets and worry dolls. Except for the exciting new prize for the first place winners. I shall announce *WHAT* it is when they arrive- I'd hate to spoil to surprise!

The badges and magnets will be divided up randomly to the winners – I will ignore any and all requests for specific badges. Fanfiction and fanart are judged separately and the awards are the same for each.

1st prize
Erestor & Glorfindel barbie-sized dolls!
They come with the outfits they have been pictured in and they both have a stand. The bodies are part of Volks 1/6 dollfies range and the heads have been hand-painted by two artists on Ebay. Glorfindel is by Soraya and Erestor is by Forever Virginia.
However, I only have one Erestor and one Glorfindel. (as you can imagine, painting a face that is no bigger than your thumbnail is quite time-consuming and therefore, expensive). So, the art and the fic category winners shall receive EITHER Erestor OR Glorfindel. NOT BOTH. (Unless the same person wins both sections of the comp.)
10 x 1.25” badges.
4 large magnets (approx. 8cm by 10cm), 8 small magnets (approx. 6 cm by 4cm).

2nd prize
Mini Erestor and Glorfindel worry dolls! They are approx. 5cms tall each and come with a phonestrap so you can attach them to almost anything!
10 x 1.25” badges.
4 large magnets, 8 small magnets.

3rd prize
10 x 1.25" badges.
5 large magnets, 10 small magnets.

(There may also be 5 honourable mentions in both categories, whom shall receive one badge and one small magnet each, but I shall see how popular the contest is before deciding on this for sure).
