Great Club!

Hello all,
I'm Parnasus, from Sacramento, and I wanted to say that I think this is such a fabulous idea, it totally appeals to my love of dressing up, creating new costumes and socializing. Throw in some good food and wine and it's like a little Parnasus heaven. Unfortunately I live in Sacramento, and a trip to Seattle once a month is not on my agenda anytime soon. However, I am thinking it might be fun to start a Sacramento chapter ;p Any pointers? Especially about how to get word out? Is this mainly a group that was already formed and then Glitterati happened, or was the club the brain child of a few people and then it grew?
I hope I can make it up to Seattle in conjunction with an event sometime.

Hey Glitterati!

Mercury Event 12/15/07

There will be no Second Saturday event in December... because it will be on the Third Saturday instead! Due to massive scheduling craziness for both DJ Hana Solo and her guest dj, dj Stitch, they've decided to push it back a week. So, December's event will fall on SATURDAY, DECEMBER 15TH!

The theme for December will be 'Heroes'! Come as your favorite superhero or supervillain, or make up your own! What's your superpower? At midnight, they'll separate the club into heroes and villains and battle for control of Gotham! Monsters and henchmen welcome!

And in the spirit of holiday giving, December's event will be a food drive to benefit Northwest Harvest! Cover will be ONLY $3 with a donation of a non-perishable food item. Efforts are underway to have a covered (and possibly heated) smoking area outside, so please, smokers, don't let a once-a-month cigarette ban keep you from being a hero to a family in need.

Anyone for a meet-up?

Would anyone be interested in an downtown shopping excursion, Dec 8th? Meet up at Westlake Center for a late lunch, 1pm-ish, ride the carousel, and do some holiday shopping, while keeping track of how many people ask us if we're carolers?

I just thought you might want to know about the Glitter Sale this weekend.

Pre-Halloween Weekend

Obviously Halloween is for dressing up and looking fabulous as the Glitterati do best, but this looks like a great opportunity to do it to the nines! See you there!

[7/14] ULTRA VIOLET

The sunny season is upon us! Time to swap S.A.D. for glad! While we can't bottle sunlight and serve it at the Merc, we can still shine!

Perkygoths, rejoice! Cybergoths, activate! We're installing extra blacklights for the evening, and we challenge you to create UV reactive fashions. It's a night to be obnoxiously adoreable! Dress in hot pinks, lime greens, International Caution Orange, day-glo make up, glow-in-the-dark body paint, New Wave neons, Cybergoth, EL wire, Rexlace, Perkygoth, EGL/EGA, Electropunk, high-contrast patterns, stripes, polka-dots, checks, bright whites, White Wedding, or just your very best lint and cat hair! Be luminous!

$50 cash prize for best Ultra Violet Ensemble! That's right! Dress to impress and you could win free money! Woo!

Deejays HANA SOLO and KAOSQUEEN will be on hand to spin electro-pop, goth, synthpop and wave. Bouncy music for happy dancing!

Worried about the Merc's smoky haze dimming your shine? Fear not! Every Second Saturday is now SMOKE FREE! That's right! Starting in July, every Second Saturday will be smokeless from 9pm to 2am!

Don't worry, smokers! The Mercury is most definitely not going smoke-free. 99.9% of the Merc's regular club nights will still be your indoor nicotene sanctuary. We're simply offering one weekend night a month where our non-smoking clientele can visit and breathe easy. We know it won’t kill you to take it outside for a bit! At last call, the ashtrays will go back on the tables and you can puff away inside. And who knows? Going outside to smoke in the Merc's narrow little alley could force you to mingle with other nicotene afficianados you might not otherwise meet. You could meet the smoker of your dreams!

Ultra-pink! Ultra-green! Ultra-orange!

ULTRA-VIOLET!

Saturday, July 14th @ the Mercury

If blacklight doesn't float your boat, join us in August for an evening of barely-there fashion!

Like the title says, wear mesh or lace or anything perforated, see-through, ripped, torn, cut-out, slit, shredded, knitted, woven, netted, or otherwise structurally compromised. Deejays Hana Solo and Eternal Darkness will be spinning slinky music for sexy people. It's gettin' hot in here... ;)

(Wear as little or as much as you like, but keep in mind the local liquor laws concerning coverage. As long as the naughty bits are covered, we don't care about the rest!)

Ack - it's rainy and rather awful outside.

SAM is an alternative that has been mentioned.

Who's still planning on dressing up and would that work for you?

Glitterati, June 9th

Join the Seattle Glitterati Club at the Arboretum this Saturday for a day of pictures, laughter, and good food, all while dressed to the nines.

We'll meet at Cal Anderson Park by the Fountain at 2pm.
Around 2:30, we'll all head out to the arboretum followed by dinner at Cafe Flora.
If you're joining us at the arboretum, you can give me a call at 406-0711 if you have trouble finding us (we're pretty easy to spot, though).

It should be a great day - lots of people are coming out, one person is celebrating their birthday with us, and the weather should be stunning!

Glitterati June 9th

So, I've been thinking that a June trip to the Arboretum is in order. Frollicking among the flowers, playing in the sun, etc. What better way to do that than in high-style?

Have we any interest in meeting at Cal Anderson and then heading to the Arboretum, likely a bit early (say, 2pm) in order to coordinate rides? Or we could simply meet at the arboretum, but I am unfamiliar with it (never been) and wouldn't know a landmark to choose.

butterflake [userpic]

So I've finally managed to join the Flickr Glitterati group (late as per usual), and I've uploaded some pics from all the Gliterattis at which I've had a camera.

It made me miss all of you guys to look through these - to warmer weather so that we can hang out in the park again!

Out of the Closet!

A plan has been hatched for the first anniversary of the Seattle Glitterati Club. On Saturday, the 14th of April, at 5:00 pm we will meet here:

Photo Sharing and Video Hosting at Photobucket

If it is raining, which is very likely, we will meet here instead:

Photo Sharing and Video Hosting at Photobucket

Then after a suitable period of milling around, talking and drinking coffee, we will walk over to here for dinner:

Photo Sharing and Video Hosting at Photobucket

It's going to be commemorative of the anniversary, but low key. Logistics will be simple and expenses will be low. The locations are actually nostalgic revisits from the first two events (Cal Anderson Park, Espresso Vivace on Denny and Chez Gaudy). If you want to show up later than 5:00 and meet us at Chez Gaudy, please do. We'll probably be getting there by 6:30 or so.

The theme is Out of the Closet. Will you be there?

One year already?

Next Saturday, the second Saturday of April, marks the one-year anniversary of the inception of the Seattle Glitterati Club. I'd like to get some sense of what the participation level would be if we hold an event that day. We can come up with elaborate and luxuriant plans and an occasion for people to wear nice clothes, but if it is unlikely that more than 2-3 people will show up it's not going to be very worthwhile or successful.

If there's an event, will you show up this month? It is Spring - That means overdressing in Seattle, right?

Drunken Puppets

Photos here

Yesterday's Glitterati event began at Feierabend where we enjoyed large amounts of beer, great conversation, and outdressing everyone else there. From there, we walked to the Rebar for Drunken Puppet Night 7. The place was packed and the puppets were definitely drunk.

Highlights of the evening captured in the pictures:
[info]poh dunking his pork into his beer like a good German
[info]splendid_geryon giving away his secret narc identity
A prime example of why Glitterati is very much needed in Seattle
A giant drunken squirrel

It's too bad we were rained out of the park - I'm very much looking forward to hanging out in the sunshine with all of you again. Our chances should be much better next month.

Last minute clarification reminder

A quick reminder--we are NOT meeting at the park at 3pm.

But feel free--and, in fact, you are all roundly encouraged--to join us at Feierabend at 5pm, and/or at Drunk Puppet Night at 7pm.

Hooray! See you all there!
