[info]jlygrnmigt: matching up names

So can we have a list somewhere of livejournal name=talker name? I noticed that I'm only lj friends with half the people who have bothered to join this community, but I have a feeling I actually know some of the others...if only I knew who you were.

I'll start.

[info]jlygrnmigt: Otter?

Hey, anyone know whatever happened to Otter? He has a long-abandoned LJ, and I vaguely remember him having a newer one some time ago but I've completely lost track of him. It would be nice to say hi.

Those of you who have an @talker.com email address need to be aware of a new post from Yacko [here]

[info]calysto: Gone for a While

Hey folks out there in [info]glantri land...

I'm going to be away for another two to three months, mostly (but not entirely) without internet access. So I promoted [info]adam to level 4 (admin) to manage things til I return.

twist in the wind, [info]adam!

[info]calysto: FYI

talker.com has created a LiveJournal account which will be used for talker.com news and updates.

It is located, appropriately enough, at [info]talker

[info]leprechauns: Glantri folk are geek savvy yes?

Does anyone who reads me know a thing about electronics, specifically DVD players????

Mine wouldn't work when I went to play Vanity Fair tonight....very sad. When I took it all apart I came to the conclusion that everything is pretty much okay except for the dvd spinning mechanism thingiemabob. I.e. When I put a dvd in, it reads No Disc. I took it apart and discovered when I put a dvd in, the dvd is not being spun. I managed to 'jump start' it once and it read a dvd but then subsquent tries, even with jump starting it failed.

Am I SOL on this dvd player or is there a way to fix it???

Sorry about the recent crashes. talker.com's administrators are blaming it on a hardware (scsi) issue. a fix is in the works.

[info]calysto: Glantri's is back up

Glantri's was lag-locked for some reason, looked like a stuck process, but it's back up and humming again.

[info]lil_lilliputian: Anyone here a fan of Terry Pratchett?

He's an absolutely brilliant and hilarious author...my husband and another friend introduced me to him a couple of years ago, and I read all the way through his series, non-stop. There are 28 or 29 books in the Discworld series now, and assorted other books related to the series. The books are just fantastic, and I could certainly see Caly loving them....so you ought to give them a try!

Anyway, if anyone is a fan, you ought to go to http://www.harpercollins.com/catalog/author_xml.asp?page=authortracker&authorID=7848#tracker and sign up for the Terry Pratchett author tracker. It's supposed to send you emails when he has a new book out and things like that.

Also, Barnes&Noble.com has B&N University, where you can take some free classes and join reading groups. Pratchett is going to lead a reading group for his new novel (Going Postal) in January, so that might be something else you're interested in. I certainly plan on joining that reading group, and in fact, I've just joined my first reading group on B&N for Wicked, which starts 4 Oct....Yay!
