Oh, so good! [13 Jul 2009|10:27pm]

So I was looking at my crafty sites and I saw these! A mini terrarium and a paper mushroom! These would be perfect to leave in someone's yard or circling a tree.

Lush: A Gardening Revolution [15 Apr 2009|01:30pm]

eneat
I checked out Lush today to find this gem and I figured it would be a nice idea for others:

Seed Bomb

Ingredients:

     5 parts* clay
     3 parts* compost soil
1 part* seeds (its best to use seeds native to your land)
     1-2 parts* water
     Large bowl

*Parts refer to any form of measurement size you want, cup, mug, black LUSH pot.

Directions

Step 1: Combine all ingredients, except the water, into a large bowl and mix well until ingredients are combined.

Step 2: Slowly add 1-2 cups water and mix until thick (similar consistently to cookie dough).

Step 3: Roll the mixture into quarter size balls and let sit for 2-3 days until completely hard

Step 4: Toss onto an empty piece of land and watch it grow!

Little things [28 Feb 2009|01:53pm]

I've done a lot of little glamourbombs recently and I wanted to tell you all about them.

I've been dropping painted pennies everywhere. I try to do this every time we go out, but I forget a lot. I also have been doing some little bombs for myself. I made a twig house in my front yard. It was fun and I wanted to try it at home before I do it at a park or something. We have a large park here, but I have not been able to go. I really want to. I also made a twig heart also in my front yard. I put a picture of it up on my devienat art. I also took a lot of pictures of flowers that are just blooming. We have daffodils! I put those up as well. Here is the link to my deviant art.

Look at it if you want, and if you want to use the pictures, just ask. You can ask here or on Deviant Art.

Much love and remember Spring is almost here!

Life Artists Unite: Those Who Make the World More Whimsical/Surreal/Wondrous

Not necessarily glamourbombing, but there's plenty of art that's otherworldly and could be easily adapted to a mythic bent. Girls who dance with strangers, moss graffitti, guerilla knitting, and much, much more...

(Crossposted to [info]thosegypsies , who I dedicated the post to, but you guys know I love you all first and best. :D )

What I Did For Christmas [06 Jan 2009|04:49pm]

fey_spirit
We actually committed two sets of GBs on Christmas Eve.

First we took some leftover Christmas knick knacks (Little Christmas Bear Key Chains, Pretty little cell phone charms & Huggy Bears - the kind that hug pencils.)and went through the hospital handing them out to staff that was working Christmas Eve. We literally pressed the gift into their hands, said Merry Christmas and were gone before they could figure out what was happening.

Then when we got home late that night, we went and put snowman pins (the kind you wear) in everyone's mailbox along with a leftover Christmas Card that noted "From Santa". My wife, who is something of the artist drew different sketches on each envelope as well.

It was one of the highlights or our season.

Sooo......
This=a lil follow-up to my pre-bomb post yesterday.
Out of the 16 baubles, 5 bells, and un-countable tinsel I took to school today...here's what I have left:

XD
Most of the baubles I sort of hid in Mr. J's (my homeroom teacher) room. Luckily, he was really busy today, so he didn't notice me sneaking off into the back room now and then.....(I wonder what he'll tihnk when he sees one of them hanging off of the panning-stick thing on the tripod....) XD
One of the bells happened to be in Sierra's (my friend) chair in French, along with a note that said "Will chime for love!" I wonder how it got there..... ;) It made her quite happy.
Another found its way onto Mr. J's office door....Hmmm....
And the last one was left in the library, in the return box, along with a couple strings of tinsel and another bauble. (And a note that said: "A late Christmas gift to the Book Keeper")
The rest of the tinsel was dispersed between Sierra's French book, Mr. J's TV, and a couple books in the library. (Each on page 7! Hmm...)

Sounds kinda weird, right?
 But...I had fun. :)

(IDK if that's even glamourbombing, though. Did I get the concept all wrong or something?)

Geh. I'm going after the English teacher and the clinic ladies tomorrow anyway...lolz

(Oh, and....just a warning: Never whisper "I'm bombing the school today" to a fellow glamourbombing friendwhen you're even remotely close to a teacher....Bad bad stuff could happen.....)

Bye!
*dies*

PS: Stuff left:
       Baubles: 18
       Belles: 8
      Tinsel; Err.....a lot. I didn't really feel like....counting it....

Howdy! This is my first entry on here, even though I joined a while ago. lolz
I haven't done this glamourbomb yet, but I'm doing it tomorrow, since we had the day off from school today and tomorrow's the first day back after Winter Break. (If I'm not allowed to do a pre-bomb on here, please delete this with my sincerest apologies)
See, I was at Dollar General (if you don't know, it's a really cheap-o store) a couple days after Christmas, and I noticed that their Christmas decorations were half off! (And half on, too. lolz jk Ugh stupid jokes. Sorry)
So....
I have many many bells, baubles, and tinsel to amuse myself with at school tomorrow. (And some fake antlers with jingly bells, but...meh)
I'm gonna aim the bomb at four specific people, although I hope other people get a kick out of it, too.

1) My English teacher, Miss M, who always seems incredibly tense and needs a bit of SPARKLERAZZLEDAZLLE in her day

2) My homeroom/Video Production teacher, Mr. J, who the above statement also applies to, as well as he's always asking me what glamourbombing is. (I sort of listed it as something I like to do in this "about me" paper he handed out on the first day of school)

3) My friend Sierra (same as Mr. J)

4) The Clinic Ladies, Miss S and Miss idk-her-name, who have to stay cooped up in the Clinic all day and need some fun.

So, hopefully this'll be fun!

XD

Wish me luck?

(Oh, and any suggestions as to what to do with the tinsel would be greatly appreciated. I just got it cuz it's pretty)

This isn't about a glamour bomb that I created, but one that I was given. I hope that's okay.
It wasn't an organized thing (as far as I know), just a series of coincidences. I was having a bad day earlier this semester, & I found a shiny penny on the ground. I picked it up & took it home and put it on my shelf with some sentimental trinkets. Over the course of the semester, I found another & another & another until I had more than thirty. I remember hearing somewhere that finding pennies on the ground meant an angel had thrown one to you or something, so I either have a lot of angels or a particularly wealthy one. ♥

Why is it bad luck to leave the decorations up after Twelfth Night?

Long ago it was thought that leaving the decorations up would cause a disaster. People believed that tree-spirits lived in the greenery (holy, ivy etc) they decorated their houses with. The greenery was brought into the house to provide a safe haven for the tree-spirits during the harsh midwinter days. Once this period was over it was necessary to return the greenery back outside to release the tree-spirits into the countryside once again. Failure to do this would mean that vegetation would not be able to start growing again (spring would not return), leading to an agricultural disaster.

It was also thought that, if you left the greenery in the house, the tree-spirits would cause mischief in the house until they were released.

Blowing Bubbles [31 Oct 2008|10:04pm]

[ music | Un-Sub - My Evil ]

A long time ago I got married, and at this wedding there were tiny bottles of bubbles. Somehow one of these bottles wound up in the car and during one particularly frustrating traffic jam, I started blowing bubbles out the car window. I've no idea if anyone saw or was touched by them, but it sure as heck made me happier.

Ever since then I've kept a bottle of bubbles in the car. The car has changed, the bottle has changed, and even the marriage is no longer, but whenever I am stuck in traffic, or waiting for someone in a parking lot, I open the bottle and play...

Several months ago, a woman caught me; her car was parked in front of mine at the Walmart parking lot where I had been sitting & blowing bubbles for nearly 20 minutes. She said she had expected to find some little kids, and laughed when she saw it was me...

I meant to post about it right away, but seemed to forget... which I guess is part of the glamour...

Looking for suggestions [22 Oct 2008|11:42pm]

hello all~

I've been interested in glamour bombing for quite a few months now, and have done a few small bombs around my town...most recently, I made creative little signs (glitter, pretty paper, and calligraphy) with sayings I found on a glamor bombing site whose address I can't recall. They said things like "take me to the beach" and "be the change you want to see", and I stuck them under the windshield wipers on parked cars.

These have been fun but I want to do something I know will brighten someones day. To that end I've purchased a few small plush toys, and want to place them on the playground across from my apartment. the problem is I'm having trouble thinking of any really glamour-y way of doing it. I thought maybe a little sign saying something like "please take us home" would be in order, or maybe putting cute name tags on the animals? I'm having trouble and would appreciate any suggestions.

Are many of you familiar with the notion of culture jamming? It has the same basic set up as glamour bombing, but can be a little more political and less magical in nature.

I'm using both culutre jamming and glamour bombing as inspiration for a project for art uni this fortnight, ans so far have come up with a handful of ideas I'm dying to try, some of these being chalk outlines, wether that's the outline of a body someplace you wouldn't find one - on the side of a building for example, or using chalk to make simple things seem significant, like drawing an outline around a 'dropped' pound coin and noting if anyone picks it up or not, due to the outline.

I've also been thinking of sticking little contradicting stickers or signs around the town centre, for example sticking a sign saying 'this is not a bin' on a bin, and watching wether people still use it or not.

I'm going to be filming my results, so guerilla style film making is something I have to get used to. The results won't be shown outside my university, so I don't think I have to worry about permission from people I capture on video, just as long as they don't notice I'm filmiing!

So, fellow glamourbombers, I ask you for inspiration, ideas that have worked for you in the past, hints, tips, tricks, links.

I'm a little intimidated to interact with the public, and I don't have a big group of people to work with me, so acts that I could set up and just film, or film responses, would be ideal.

Thank you so much in advance for any inspiration or help you can give!
