I want to add some orange and yellow roses along with my sea theme but I'm scared that I it will look out of place and dumb. Any suggestions on how to incorporate the roses?

Edit:What I was thinking about doing was adding a Shark going after some overboard sailors with skeletons in the water and having sailors grave written in a banner at the bottom with the orange and yellow roses around it.

Any thoughts on what I could get that would tie along with what I have already? I'm kinda stumped because of the limited space. I would love to try to fit a mermaid and shark in somehow .What I have so far has a meaning beyond my love for traditional tattoos but this last little section won't have any hidden meaning beyond my love for the style.

I posted the phoenix and auryn tattoo's a couple weeks ago. Well, I'm looking down the barrell of another couple hours of work and honestly I am uncertain as to how to finish the phoenix. Eventually she will be part of an elemental sleeve [I'm going to have fire and water on that arm and earth and air on the other] and I want it to have 'the sleeve look' if that makes any sense.

But I'm stuck. *sigh* I'm unsure how to color the breast of the bird and how finish the background. Is there anyone who can help me?

I'm including the original art work with this post along with the piece as it is now.

Oh btw, yes I know there are cracks in the ink of the wings. Believe it or not I had an allergic reaction to the dye! We are going over them again to both get rid of the cracks and enhance the gorgeous blues. And the black around the design is the last bit I had done, its still healing.

Thanks for the help!!

Hey everybody!!! So my friend and I went out and got our Anchorman lip tattoos this weekend. We decided to get PANDA WATCH!!! The artist said he loved our idea so much he did it for half the minimum, so we were pretty excited. In order to determine who would get PANDA and get WATCH! we had Craig write each down on a piece of paper and we picked them out of a cup. I got panda, which is obviously the superior word.

Both done by Craig at Shamus McInky's in South Buffalo, NY.

And here's a couple faces to put to the tats.

Mary's on the left and I'm (Mairin) on the left.
Yes, we're usually that obnoxious. But I also usually have a chin.

Unfortunately, both of them have started to fade already. I knew it would happen but I didn't know so soon. We're going back for touch ups in a couple days.

hello ladies. i saw this magazine cover a year or two ago and saved the pic because it's hilarious and i need it on my skin. after this long of looking at it though, the cheese looks a little funny to me. it's an odd request, but do any of you have pics saved of taco tattoos that you could share with me? google images and flickr have not yielded any tattoos and the regular photos of tacos aren't anything i'm digging. i like the banner across the front too, and the traditional aesthetic it adds... i am not sure what i'd want it to say though.

anyway, if you all have any pics or thoughts to share, please do! also, any recommendations for shops/artists in austin would be great. thanks!!

So... I have a font question for you guys. This is my first time to post, but I do a lot of lurking :-) I love seeing all the pictures, ideas and questions everyone has on here. I just recently decided the idea for this tattoo, I was inspired by a graphic one of my friends put on her blog and I thought it was kind of perfect for how my life is and will continue to fall into place, which so far isn't the best but I have lots of hope for the future. The quote will be placed on my foot and will say "One Step At A Time" this is the picture

Any other font ideas? I'm not crazy about that one, I also want a heart, in fact, I was thinking two but I'm not crazy about that one either, any idea are appreciated! Thank you!!
** Also this will be my second tattoo, but I've heard the foot is very very sensitive, I know its different for everyone, but if anyone has any experiences I would appreciate that as well!

I found this community and have been watching it for awhile. I'm pretty obsessed with tattoos and even though I'm 20 years old I have been too chicken shit to get one. It's not because of the pain level (I love pain) but as my family says I'm allergic to everything from the sea to land. It's basically just shellfish and nuts but I'm not sure what they put in the ink. I would feel like an asshole asking a tattoo artist. I already have 20 sketches of tattoos I would love to get done. My boyfriend recently got a huge sleeve tattoo done and it sort of made me really jealous. It's something I have been wanting to do for awhile. So, screw pain level...what is in the ink? and how severe can allergies to tattoos be?

We've already had this discussion-another community just will not work. It'll be all people asking questions and no people getting answers. Thusly, we're trying to figure out a successful way to fairly even this out. I do understand the frusteration, but working three retail jobs right now more than slightly had a few restrictions on how to come up with some answers.

I promise once we figure out an approach to this that will be 100% effect, it will be addressed. But as for now, we are just allowing the questions as needed.

I'm working on figuring out an effective way to do noobie question of the week, and trying to keep up with the tags.

Thanks for your patience.
-Jen.

i got a couple more tattoos last night- more filler work for my right arm...

close up of the poem- right when it was finished.

and i got the red in my match stick touched up- it was a bitch to heal so it had a little color missing in some parts. i also added the tiny red "m" too.

and i also got the 1979 done- it's for my sister- the year she was born. that will heal into a nice light grey color- much like the same shade of grey of the text right next to it.

my arm is sloooowly starting to fill up with all my random craziness. i love it!

and this is what the poem means in english, in case anyone wants to know- it's from pablo neruda's soneto XVII:
I love you without knowing how, or when, or from where,
I love you simply, without problems or pride:
I love you in this way because I don't know any other way of loving .

and these were done (as is almost all my work) by holden at studio 954 in fort lauderdale.

thanks for looking!

Hey ladies!

I just wanted to let everyone know that I'll be going in on Sunday night to get my 3rd piece!

So, this is it!

(sorry if it's too big)

I'll be getting it on my back above my sun which has a relative siginificance to me.

The font is Scriptina (recommended by my amazing artist, X. Sam Grae at Studio 954 in downtown Ft. Lauderdale)

The line is from a George Michael song, "The Strangest Thing" off his Older album. Not only am I a HUGE GM fan (and have been since I was in the womb, apparently), the line also has significant meaning for me and is the best line in any GM song, in my humble opinion.

Here's the song...

<lj-embed id="3" />
Well, I hope that was entertaining for you :)

I will post pictures on Sunday night when I get home!

-Kate
