Sorry Lea, that I opened this can of worms in the first place, and thanks for your kind words. When I saw all those comments I was going to post a nice, polite reply because the comments on this newscast seemed a lot like a celebration of the woman's life. Still, everybody is entitled to their opinion and I realised that anything I say would mean next to nothing, and that it isn't worth it. There's enough strife in real life, why go through it here.

So it may have been an over-reaction but it seemed easiest to just delete it all, go away, and be done with it. I already left one fandom behind (Doctor Who) and while I wasn't personally embroiled in any bickering there, I got tired of the eternal sniping and the "I'm a bigger/better/purer/more dedicated/etc., etc., kind of fan than you are" Unfortunately, I find more and more that it is the same everwhere. I was about ready to pull the plug on any and all LotR connections, take down my website and my journal ... yes I know, that's reactionary and I sometimes bite off my nose just to spite my face. Changed my mind though, because I've met too many dear sweet people in this fandom.

I'm blabbing, sorry, and I haven't gone totally away, the community is still of my friends list.

I'll probably be resetting my journal back to where everybody can comment (one of these days), but if you don't mind I'd like to add you to my f-list.

Oh, gawd, I can't even remember what I wrote, and since you deleted it, I can't find it to see, but I hope that nothing I said upset you!! I would be devastated if I found that I had hurt you in any way, and I truly mean that. I know I said something, but I hope it was a mixed squee/sorry thing as I intended it to be, and not in any way a hurtful comment towards what you so generously posted. I felt that it was a bit inappropriate for me to post what I was *really* thinking, which was that your screencaps are the best I've seen and I'd really like some pointers on getting clear pics from screencaps since mine are blurry at times. But I loved the pics, I saved every one of them with your name, and I sincerely hope I said nothing to upset you. *big hugs*

No no no ... definitely not! I can't actually recall what you wrote so I know I wasn't upset by it *hugs you back* and thank you for your support!

I suppose everyone had a valid point (from their point of view) but I was just frustrated because I sure had meant neither disrespect nor harm, so I pulled the whole darn thing before it could escalate.

I do those kinds of caps with the capture feature in PSP (Paint Shop Pro). A little awkward and time consuming perhaps, but the results are worth it.

Oh, what a relief!! I wouldn't ever want to do anything to upset you or Lea, and was very worried since my memory sucks so badly that I couldn't remember what I had said. I missed what was said by others, but I knew that no disrespect was meant by either you or her - I think anyone would know that by simply paying attention to other things you both say and do. And, being honest, we take what we can get of Craig because there isn't enough. It's a shame if anyone took it any other way, and I'm sorry that you were upset. *big hugs*

Eh, I don't have Paint Shop Pro. My dvd player has a little camera, I click it and then paste into Photoshop or Photoshop Elements. Sometimes they're fine, sometimes they're blurred. It has a "step forward" and "step backward" feature so I can look at it frame by frame, but I'm still not happy with the results. Maybe I ought to look into getting PSP.

None of comments were targetted to you ,but instead targetted at those who came only to squee.

As I stated it was my personal opinion that i vented that some respect to Liddy was indeed not too much too ask.

I do sincerly hope that my comment didn't cause you any harm or distress as that was not my intention.

Thank you for commenting and believe me when I say that I respect your opinion, and also that I meant no disrespect to Liddy or her family. It may have helped if I had made it clear where the caps had come from because in retrospect I realise that not everybody had looked at the post before and/or made the connection. Then this morning I saw what these few pictures had wrought and in the spur of the moment decided it just wasn't worth it.

Exactly my feeling, and therefore nothing was wrong with posting the clip OR the screencaps. So maybe some people didn´t get the background of the caps - that´s no reason for another fandom war. But yeah, sadly these things happen in the LOTR fandom as well, HOWEVER my attitude is that I enjoy the good sides and wonderful people that I have found here, and just not get upset about the rest. I hope you won´t let get this one to you too badly.

And here´s the good side of the whole upset: I found your LJ and like it very muchly. We must have the same taste in men :-) I also just got my "Better than Sex" DVD and oh, yummy. I like those dimples ;-) Hope it´s ok if I friend you.

Yes, I think that's where I went wrong, not emphasizing where the caps had come from because I had wrongly assumed that everybody knew, from Lea's post before. Never assume!

On a more pleasant note, BTS, isn't that just a very lovely movie all around? I'll be off now to friend you back.

Death is a controversial issue and different people react in different ways and express themselves in different ways, so I deleted the post to not cause any more upset ... a few caps aren't worth hurt feelings.

Yes, the person that came here to SQUEE would be me. And had I KNOWN that these came from a report on someone DYING, I would certainly not have made such a comment. My sister has cancer, and I would not wish to harm anyone with what I said. I did not come "just to squee." I am a fan of Craig's, and I had thought that this was a place to enjoy his pictures.

Again, forgive me, an no further incidents shall be put upon you. I have left the group, so feel free to post away.

Hey, you don't have to leave the group, I don't want you to leave! :( That is what we suspected, that somebody just didn't realize what the caps were from. I know that you didn't want to cause any harm, and I see now that it was my fault, I should've made sure that the caps were labelled as what they are.

Please come back, I don't blames you, this was all a big misunderstanding, your comments and participation will be dearly missed on here if you leave!

Sadly, I've already gone.

I've had more than one problem in Craig groups regarding squeeing over pictures, and if the rest of his "fans" are going to be like this, I think I'd rather admire him from my quiet little space over here.
