Hi everyone! I have been on 12 seconds for about a month now. I haven't updated it in a week or two, so you get an old one to view. What is 12 seconds? Think of it as Twitter for video. You have 12 seconds to either answer their question of the day, or talk about anything you want. You'll be surprised...12 seconds is sometimes longer than you want!

Haha. Another longtime lurker has emerged from the bogs of murkiness to speak and whatnot.
I actually don't comment or anything because you gals talk about technology and all that stuff that makes my brain hum. I prefer playing games and reading comics and watching science fiction and reading fantasy and all that more old-fashioned geekery.
Anyhoo! I want to write a superhero comic, but I realized I haven't read all that many superhero comics. I once read half of an old Spiderman issue of my mother's, and I've read Watchmen twice, and League of Extraordinary Gentlemen, and Fables, but not a lot of superhero comics. I kinda want to read Fantastic Four and Batman, but have no idea where to start.
Fantastic Four, because I read on tvtropes that the Invisible Woman's story got really interesting when people started expanding her powers, and Batman, because I once saw some Justice League movie where he threatened Superman and the Martian Detective dude, and it was pretty awesome.
So anyway, do you happen to have any recommendations as to what I should read?

We're trying to get a feel for what people would be willing to buy, so she set up a poll on her journal here.
If our fellow Transfans and especially potential Botcon-goers would go fill it out, and leave any relevant commentary, we'd be most appreciative. :)

Does anyone know of a problem with DRM (Digital Rights Management) and ATI Graphics cards? Yes, I know it seems silly - but here is my dilemma.
Last night - I downloaded an album from the Zune marketplace. I was listening to a song while I started WoW and my previously well running machine started experiencing graphics problems. So badly so - that it won't even load correctly in "normal" windows mode.
I'm of course going to try updating the drivers and removing the possibly offending files, but right now I'm posting from someone else's machine while mine sits sadly unused at my desk :(.
Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!!!

Hi all! I had a question which I thought those of you out there who make vids might be able to answer.
I'm trying to make a music vid (alias, squee!) and am having some difficulty ripping my dvd's. The motion is all jerky and the sound is off synch. I don't really care about the sound since I'm going to remove it anyway, but it's usually a sign that frames have been dropped. I'm currently using Xilisoft Platinum 5 (cracked heh). It's very slow, like it took over 4 hours to rip 3 episodes, and the end result is garbage. Anyone have advice to offer?

I am a computer geek and a gamer. I run VISTA, and I LIKE IT!!!!!! Never seen the problem with it ø.Ø
Now I have a 2008 Gaming computer, and I love it^^ It's my beeest friend :P (I do have real friends too) xD
I play WoW a lot, LoZ, Pokemon and Battlefield. I own almost every LoZ game there is <3
Nintendo is my God. I own an NDS a Gamecube, NES, SNES, Gameboy pocket, gameboy advanced, gameboy color and of course lots of accessories both from Nintendo and Nintendo games, and for my consoles.
When I'm in town I'm always at EBgames. Either chatting with a friend that works there, or gaming in the backroom :P
Computer meet-ups are always fun^^ Almost every weekend me and some friends meet up for gaming and talking about computers and all.
So... yeah, that's me^^

I never knew about this place until I was bored today so I searched around in the interests then stumbled here! Let me introduce myself :)
My online alias is Devyn but my real name is Amanda. I am a geek at heart and always have been. I'm a user of Fedora Linux 9, I love first-person shooters (ie half-life 2 dr gordon I'd so do him, counter-strike source, tf2 etc), gamecube (anything nintendo really), legend of zelda, old school anime (like 1990's-early 2000's), heavy metal music (slough feg, strapping young lad, devin townsend, agalloch, megadeth, etc), and my true passion is web design. I've been web designing for 8 years and I love every bit of it. I enjoy coding them too. I really didn't know that there was a community out here like this untill today. XD;;;
Anyways, you can call me 'Cade or DV Or Vader. ^__^;; Cookies to whoever gets the first reff and NO, its not from the EU of Star Wars.
I like starwars - Darth Vader really is the Best Villain ever. Sadly, I'm not much of a fan of the EU of Starwars, only the original 6 movies and the new Clone Wars 3D film.
I LOVE Transformers, esply the movie and G1. Barricade, Prowl, Sunstorm and Jazz are my faves of all time. ^___^
I like free form Roleplay in the TF fandom the best, and I collect SW and TF Toys like no tomorrow. I also do original free form IM based RP as well.
Umm.. I dont know what else to say other than I'll be lurking here and maybe posting once in a blue moon. Oh, and I'm Aussie.

Girl geeks are awesome.
Which means all of you are awesome. <3
Okay so! I'm new here, just thought to say hi. I'm from Singapore, and been a geek for quite some time now, but I'm partial towards games, more first-person shooters and role-playing than real-time strategy games and miniatures. Still a geek though! Especially for Team Fortress 2 (at the moment).
Currently, I own a gaming laptop and a DS Lite. Someone stole my previous DS Lite just after I sold my DS Chunky, which made me very, VERY sad. If I ever find out who stole it, I will rip him or her from limb to limb (okay I'm not THAT serious). I'm also now one year clean from World of Warcraft... Phew!
How did I find out I was (at least beginning to be) a geek? When I could recognise tunes from different video games, play it out on the piano, or trick unsuspecting classmates into thinking that the local tap water is poisoned by dihydrogen monoxide (it really isn't, we all consume it all the time. It's just known more commonly as H2O. ^^;;)
I currently make a very, VERY tiny living out of converting dice into jewelry, since I've lost my job a few weeks ago. Feel free to take a look here. Please do tell me what you think! I'd like constructive comments and advice :)
I'm glad to be here amongst like minds though :)

i am new to this community, but i am pumped to be meeting a bunch of like-minded girls/women who enjoy gaming, technology, geeking out, D&D, etc.
i am so happy, finally, i am getting a replacement case for my DS, it has been broken for a while now. also, any DS games which are adventure based which i should try out? i am totally addicted to Final Fantasy Tactics A2, that is a good example of the kind of games i love to play.
any suggestions??

How I missed this I have no idea, but I'm a member of Girl Gamers, so why not Girl Geeks? I'm 20 and attend Evergreen State. I'm more of an obscure reference-can recite Every Episode of the Simpsons-Loved Old Nick/cartoons-still plays Pokemon geek. Oh, and I'm a big anime fan too.

trying to get tf2 running a little better on my laptop, it runs okay, but will freeze/loop every now and then.
Laptop stats:
2GHz Intel Core Duo
2GB RAM
x3100 intel graphic accelerator.
vista business.
things done:
most common vista tweaks (some help)
res drop (no help)
quality drop (some help)
it's running in software mode, hardware mode is greyed out.
any other ideas? i can't upgrade the graphics card as there's no MXM slot and i don't have PCI express. and i certainly can't afford a new laptop!
