Welcome to girladvice!
In this community we believe in helping people with their problems and lending them any possible advice that they may need for guidance. If you've been looking for a decent community with many friendly people who you can easily make friends with, then look no further :) Boys are always more than welcome to join.

Before posting to the community, please take a moment to read our rules. Rules have been in effect since November 25, 2006, to help things run smoothly and to minimize conflict as much as possible. Generally, breaking rules will follow a “three strikes you’re banned” policy.

Upon joining, you may fill out a short survey to introduce yourself. The survey can be found below and is entirely optional. All surveys can be found in the memories. If you want to change some things in your survey all you need to do is go into the Member Info section, find yours, click it and click on the edit button.

Girladvice Rules



1. Drama, disrespect, and judging will not be tolerated. Remember, this community is about giving advice, not passing judgment.

2. Do not change the “friends only” status of your post.

3. No discrimination or harassment. (This includes sexual preferences, stereotypes, and race among other things.)

4. No reposting other members’ posts. Breaking this rule will result in being automatically banned.

5. Please keep posts on topic. In general, we expect all posts to be seeking or giving some sort of advice.

6. Do not post inappropriate videos, communities or web links. Also, put any sex-related or possibly inappropriate post topics behind a cut, no matter how short. Do NOT make posts asking "what are good ways to get high". Making mention of a drug relating to an actual problem is fine BUT we do not endorse the use of illegal substances and your post will be deleted.

7. Please keep other members in mind when making your posts. Put long posts and pictures behind an LJ cut. A good way to tell if it's too long would be to go to the girladvice main journal page (not your friends page) and see if you have to scroll to view the whole post. If you have to scroll, it's too long. (find out how to do an LJ-cut here) Also keep formatting to a normal standard, and don’t completely change the size or color of your text. Bolding or italicizing a few words is fine but do not change the entire thing. IF YOU BREAK THIS RULE AND CHANGE THE FONT OF YOUR POST, IT WILL BE AUTOMATICALLY DELETED. The first offense will result in a warning, following that the regular strike system will be followed.

8. Promos are allowed only behind an LJ cut. Do not comment with promotions.

9. "Add me" posts are not allowed, however you may mention wanting some friends in alternate posts, like your intro.

10. Feel free to add the mods if you would like, however keep in mind that their journals are about them and advice will not be given if you ask for it in their journal. This community is for advice, the mods' private journals are not.


If you have a problem...


For every rule that is broken, a comment will be made, the post/comment in question will be deleted, and a public entry will be made in the community [info]girladvicemods. If you have broken a rule, you can find the entry relating to your problem and comment if you are unsure why you broke a rule or if you have a problem with how anything was handled.

If you have a more general problem, like a problem with another member or someone else's post, please comment here or on any public post in [info]girladvicemods.
