FIVE shows...THREE days! Melissa Ferrick will start off the weekend by playing two very limited seated shows at Space in Portland ME on October 19th, first show starts at 7pm, second show at 10pm. On October 20th she will be playing two shows at Club Passim in Cambridge, MA, first show starting at 7pm and second show at 10pm, Hamell On Trial will be opening for Melissa. I just wanted to let you all know that Melissa Ferrick is playing in Great Barrington, Mass THIS FRIDAY, Feb. 9th at 9pm. She's playing at Club Helsinki, an absolutely incredible little venue. You can visit the website of the club at www.clubhelsinkiweb.com. The tickets are $20 if you buy them on the Club Helsinki website and $25 if you buy at the door.

I would highly suggest you buy them ASAP if you are going to this show because it is a samll venue and tickets will sell out quickly!

Melissa Ferrick and Natalia Zukerman are doing a three show gig at the Vixen nightclub in Provincetown, MA, during Memorial Day Weekend! It's also Women's Week there in P-Town and there will be tons of other stuff going on as well (parties, drag shows, etc.). For those of you that have already heard of either one of them you know that these will be absolutely amazing shows! Just joined so here's my intro. My name is Paul (Jean-Paul actually, but I rarely use that), and I love a lot of bands. But it seems I prefer bands with a mix of male and female. Here's a short list of bands with women in them that I like.

Sky Cries Mary
Sinforosa
Abney Park
Civita
Heart
Hole (I can't stand Courtney, but the music isn't half bad!)
Melissa Auf der Maur
A Perfect Circle (Especially when Paz was in the band. She is a KICK ASS bass player!)
Smashing Pumpkins
Sleater - Kinney (I used to live and go to high school on the street they named their band after.)
Insert many more.

Almost every band I've played in has had a mix of male and female and I prefer it that way. You can have too much testosterone flowing which leads to huge egos and pissing matches. And you can have too much estrogen flowing which leads to cattiness and emotional drama. Not that I'm saying a one gender band can't work, I just prefer the dynamic of a mixed group because it represents real life in art more closely.

I play in two of the bands I listed above and used to play in a third. I currently play guitar and some bass in Civita (Pron. Cheh-VEE-tah) which you can hear at http://www.myspace.com/civitaband if you're curious. My wife Melissa(instantkarmma) is our vocalist/lyricist. I also play bass in Abney Park.
