I'm contemplating buying my bf a PSP for Xmas. This in itself is not a problem, what kind of games to get him is. I like games, but for the most part I play WoW and that's it. So I'm kind of under a rock, I suppose you could say.
We likes to play WoW and Command & Conquer, if that helps. He also likes Final Fantasy and cheats his way through Doom. This is about the extent of my knowledge :(
I'd ask him myself what games he would like, but that would spoil the surprise.
Anyone got any suggestions for good games to look for?
I have a ton of PSP games I love but I don't know that they'll be very appealing to your boyfriend. You could try Legend of Heroes as that's sort of a little bit FF-esque, but that's all I can think of.
I'd take him to the game store and kind of casually browse the PSP games (as well as some other games), see if he shows interest in something. Sneaky!
Does he only like real-time strategies or does he like turn-based ones, too? If he likes turn-based you could always get him the PSP version of Final Fantasy Tactics, which would combine his love of strategy with his love of Final Fantasy.
Crisis Core: Final Fantasy VII. He'd love it, I'm sure. I'm not a FF-fan, nevertheless I liked it. There's also Final Fantasy Tactics: The War of the Lions. And Final Fantasy VII: Advent Children.
if you really don't want to guess at a game he'd like, you could always pick up a gift card from a video game store with enough money on it to buy a game or two?
I'd be careful about getting a PSP now; I keep hearing rumors of a PSP 2 and I work at a GameStop... Virtually -nothing- is coming out for the PSP. Anywho. Patapon's really popular. If you can find a copy of Monster Kingdom Jewel Summoner, get that :) I agree with the Crisis Core recommendations. Dragoneer's Aria is good too. Jeanne D'Arc is good as far as RPGs go.
There's also Metal Gear Solid: Portable Ops (NOT Plus, which is more of a multiplayer game), Patapon, Ratchet and Clank, and MediEvil. There are lots of great games on the PSP. Try checking out the PSP listing at Metacritic for more.
