In the spirit of the Triatha_Ron, Ginger Lust is a community set up to celebrate and promote thoughtful, well-crafted Ron-centric fanfic. This is not an exchange comm, nor a challenge comm. There are no teams, no polls, and everyone who writes and reads is ultimately a winner. This is for those of you perhaps between stories, looking for an innovative place to hone (or try out!) your Ron-centric writing, or perhaps you've opted not to sign up for any holiday fests and would like something a little different to focus on. The only theme of sorts is that these stories should reflect the emotional, insightful and passionate complexities of Ronald B. Weasley, who certainly has more emotional range than that of a teaspoon. This is a prompt-driven literary feast, the only limitation on participating being when the prompts are all claimed.
Your stories can be set in any time period, be DH compliant, ignore the DH epilogue, be AU, hopeful, tragic, comic— the only thing they cannot be is het. Genfic or slash only. It needn't be explicit; plotty explorations of Ron's psyche and life are more than welcome! Passionate explorations of his life and loves/lusts are also most welcome! You decide. A fan of rarepairs, I do especially encourage those of you who enjoy the extra 'work' and reward of writing longer stories that believably pair him with the unexpected to join in. Ron/Remus, Ron/Severus and Ron/Neville are just a few pairings which have gorgeous stories in their legacy. Those who like to pair Ron with Harry or (yes, it's my dear OTP) Draco are also welcome to participate. Threesomes are also marvelous! Again, genfic about Ron as an adult or young adult (or youth!) without an overwhelming sexual element— absolutely fantastic. This is all about Ron. Because I still don't believe there can be enough Ronfic out there.
The prompts themselves are more philosophical in nature than anything else, and this is where my influence as primary mod most comes into play. There will be a limit of two people per prompt, if there's even that many people who participate. Prompts will be available for claiming from now until the night of Sunday, September 30th at midnight EST, unless they're all claimed prior to that time. From then you have until the 15th of December to write and have your story beta'ed (okay, there are two rules: your story must have at least one beta; this is meant to promote excellence in wordcraft as well as the exploration of Ron as a character) and HTML coded and emailed to me or the other mods. Stories will begin to be posted in January, 2008. I'll put all of the participating authors' names in a bowl and draw them out at random for the posting order. This being a first-time thing and a bit of an underground comm, I don't know how many people will participate, but the more committed authors, the more exquisite fic about Ron there will be to read.
