Hello again- your primary mod here, Thevina/[info]thrihyrne. As a kind of wrap-up post, I'd like first and foremost to thank my co-mods, [info]stuckinsea, [info]sexyscholar and [info]wolfiekins. Without your enthusiasm and assistance, I would never have truly brought this comm to life. Nextly, to all of our writers and artists, thank you so very much for contributing your gifts to this celebration of Ron. Many of you were people I'd little to no communication with before this; getting to know you and your work has been such a joy. To our readers, lurkers and commenters— many, many thanks. Those of us who create art, whether with pen or paint or the written word, do it because we are compelled to do so, but it's always gratifying to know our works aren't vanishing into a void!!

For those of you whose works were long enough to warrant being hosted on my website, if you'd like to give me a new link, I'll be happy to change that out. That goes for everyone, actually: if you'll comment here I'll move the link. That does mean that your comments will move with you. (it may also take me a little while to convert them all over; please be patient with me!) I'm planning to keep this comm up for an undefinable period, though of course the activity will die down until/unless we do another one.

thank you all.

With some fics and topics, it's best to let the words speak for themselves. So without further ado, here's a short but intense vignette from [info]shes_gone. And it's so hard for me to believe that we're nearly at the end of the month, but what a glorious month of Ron fic this has been!

I've been spoiled as a mod; I do love long stories with plot and character development and some lovin' thrown in. This is the second Ron/Draco story to fit that bill, and I'm just so pleased. I hope that you all enjoy it! As with the others that are longer than vignettes, this is hosted off-site so you can read it as a whole rather than dealing with LJ cuts.

Hey there; there are a few authors who still haven't submitted fics to me, and I'm pretty sure you all know who you are. This isn't to inspire guilt or panic, but after this Friday, as in two days from now, I'm out of stories to post unless you have completed your fics. If not, that's okay, I'll consider this fest to be completed as is. If you will have your stories done by Sunday or shortly thereafter, please email me so I can plan to continue posting or consider the inaugural [info]ginger_lust fest to have come to a close.

Thanks! ♥

Another Monday, another Ron/Draco submission for you, our devoted readers and writers. Enjoy this story and, of course, if you wish to let others know about our community, please guide them here. I'd love to see a few more reading and commenting if so moved. I know I'm not the most well-know writer out there (this is [info]thrihyrne, as usual), so feel free to spread the word.

Happy Monday!

I'll happily admit it; I enjoy reading long, plot-driven stories and if there's an adult element (or a lot of it!), then all the better. If you make that a long, plotty Ron/Draco story, I'm pretty much in heaven.

So without further ado, here's [info]pinetranio's story. It's hosted off-site so you can read it as one story without dealing with LJ sections. Do enjoy! After mine, there's this one and a few other longer fics, so feel free to bookmark them and come back. That's the great thing about writing: it never goes bad. :)

In 2005 I wrote a Ron/Remus, "Wash Me Throughly" (and yes, that's 'throughly,' not 'thoroughly;' the title is from an Anglican anthem). Back then it was really a rarepair, and post-DH, it does remain such. Yet with the diversity of our submissions, this is our second Ron/Remus. From [info]tjwritter we have a thoughtful story of mutual healing, a theme which I have sensed is inherent in the (still rather few) Ron/Remus stories I've read. So for you all, a guerdon (reward or recompense; I'm a vocabulary whore: go forth and use it wisely!) for you all who had decided to watch and read the submission of stories this month.

We are a truly multi-cultural fest: today's post is submitted by [info]tsubame_17 and is in Spanish. She apologized in that she couldn't get it translated, and in my past I've studied French and Russian… the Welsh I'm sortof learning won't help either. So— here is her story, in Spanish, but without translation. If any of you would care to work with her to get it translated to English, I'm sure many of us would be grateful. But it's exotic and I'm thrilled, nonetheless.

Hello again! Thev here to post our next story. Before I do, just a smidge of housekeeping/info for you all, our gentle readers. After this post, the next story and several others to be posted through the month are NC-17. They will be locked to people who have both joined and friended this community. If you've tried to join and didn't provide an age statement that lets us know you're at least 18, you can't friend it and I won't let you join. It's to protect us, sorry. Also, since I'm the founder and primary mod of the community, as well as the person who's seeing all of these wonderful stories and art in advance, I'm commenting directly to the authors rather than posting comments here. I want to be sure that I have each fic up in a timely way with proper formatting. I do hope that any and all of you who find yourselves moved by any stories will let the author know; feedback is certainly appreciated, but if something doesn't float your boat, feel free to give it a miss.

Below is the header information for [info]lena3's fic; she's had some privacy issues and the link will be to her LJ rather than it being posted directly here. Enjoy!!

Well, the time has come. I hope that you all are having or have had a very happy New Year. Where I live it's mid-day on the first, and time for our first post. I've received 10 completed stories with more promised on the way, so my plan is to post every other day, which I believe will spread them out through the entirety of the month. With long-distance help from [info]koshweasley, I randomly numbered the 10 stories and he got a pack of cards and with that, drew the initial order.

First up- [info]melmoe1, with art!! Enjoy! Since I'm not the best with multi-sizing pictures (and you'll want to see these in their full-sized glory), I've linked to them as per the wishes of the artist/author.

This probably goes without saying, but feedback is indeed love.

Well, it's Thev again. I've heard from a few people, and we will indeed be able to post some stories and some art once the first rolls around. I've heard from a few people who are pretty certain they won't have stories ready until later in the month, and maybe not even then. Still, I have received some new Ron fic and Ron art (yay!!), and I'll put the stories that I have by the 1st in a bowl and draw for the posting order. I'll post every 3 or 4 days until I've posted all that I have. Currently that's under 10, but I remain optimistic that I'll hear from more of our signees in the next fortnight. That's not to make people feel guilty, I understand real life issues. The whole point of me forming this and leaning heavily on my beloved co-mods was to generate new Ron-centric fics, and that has indeed happened. I hope that you all have enjoyed the recs along the way as well. Even if you signed up and won't have a fic done, I hope that the prompts will inspire you in the future. I'm afraid that this particular inaugural celebration of Ron hasn't generated any novella-length stories (though maybe I'll be proven wrong!), but at least in the stories I've received there are some less common pairings and interesting takes on Ron, which was the point of creating this in the first place.

Feel free to reply to this post and let me know the status of your fic, even if it's to say there's no way you can contribute after all. It'll help me figure out how to spread out the submissions I can plan on receiving.

Looking forward to spreading out the Ron!love in my birthday month!! :)

Hello all! Whether you're in a cold clime or at the high point of summer, I hope that you all are enjoying your holidays however you're caring to spend them. If you're looking for a meaty, Ron-centric story that's beautifully written and delivers a well-fleshed out post-War Ron and damaged!Harry, I have one for you to savor between now and when we begin posting.

Nor Let Me Die Before I Have Begun to Live is an unforgettable story by Callum James (also at LJ as [info]callumjames, and comments are welcome there). This was written pre-DH, in which Harry vanished after the War and Ron has become a pariah to his family and friends, spending months trying to find Harry to no avail. When he does stumble across Harry, Ron discovers just how damaged Harry is, but Ron takes on the task of healing him enough to try to bring him back to the Wizarding world. Callum has an extraordinary way with words and imagery; he gives me writer's envy for sure! He pulls on snippets of canon and elaborates on them in this story, the characterizations are deep and bruisingly real.

Here's just a sample:

Go and enjoy this well-crafted, plot-driven, erotic, visceral, ultimately optimistic story, linked once more to part one here.

And don't forget- hopefully you're all finishing up your fics or waiting to hear from your betas. I'll be pulling stories out of a hat on the 30th or 31st to determine the order of posting and then we can begin reading our long-awaited Ron fics! Thus far I'm missing nearly everybody's, and I do hope that I'll be able post more than five. We all seem to adore Ron-centric stories, and I do hope that the past few months have been fruitful ones for you, as authors.

With fondness and dreams of Ron in a kilt,
[info]thrihyrne/Thevina (and your other mods!)

Hello my darlings. It is I Hannah, here to bring you your weekly fic rec. I've been holding back my favorite Ron pairing of all time, since I'm known to waffle on and on about him and a certain Slytherin, and rant as well, and well I didn't want to go straight into my OTP since I know people are probably sick of me talking about them. Anyway, I'm finally ready to give you a Ron/Draco fic...

A Routine Comfort

By: [info]mamalaz

Before I go on, you must know that fic is locked over at [info]triatha_ron, but you're a huge Ron fan so you must've joined this awhile back, so forget I said anything, if you haven't joined, you must in order to view said fic.

Now [info]mamalaz as we all know is the writer of the amazing fic I'm Not in Denial, if you haven't read it...that's sacrilege, my darlings. If you're familiar with her work then you know that she is an amazing writer, she one of the few in my opinion that keep Ron and Draco as they should be. Nothing is ever easy when it comes to my OTP, you have to work to get to their fluffy cores...and with [info]mamalaz she does just that.

In A Routine Comfort, Ron is trying to find his way back from the war, trying to get back to himself. Theres one thing or one person really, that he just can't let go. This tale is amazing, gut wrenching, and it has such a unbelievable spot on characterization of Ron, be it in his moment of lust, to his moment of utter vulnerability. I love this story. I love it so much I want to marry it.

Here's a bit of a taste

An excerpt from: A Routine Comfort )

Please read this fic, if you ignore all my other recs, this one should not be. It is by far my favorite [info]mamalaz fic. And please if you have a moment, let her know how much you liked the story. And you will, trust me.

Well, I hope you all have a great week.

MWAH!

Hello, lovelies! [info]sexyscholar here.

I sincerely hope that the holiday season is treating you all well thus far. The gorgeous [info]thrihyrne reminded me that it is my turn for a Ronfic rec, and here I am.

I know that originally, the fic recs were to be fanfiction that we love that doesn't get as much of the praise that it deserves. I don't think that the story I've chosen falls into that category, but it's one that I've held close to my heart...and perhaps other places...for nearly two years now.

That story is "Sea Change" by [info]exitsign, starring my beloved pairing: Ron and Draco.

[info]exitsign offers only a definition as a summary: sea change (n): a marked transformation.

When I first read that, I was immediately intrigued. Whose transformation? What brings it all about? How in the wizarding world are you going to get Ron and Draco to make sense to each other?

The story centers around Ron (yay!), immediately after HBP and Dumbledore's end. Draco Malfoy, in desperate need of protection, is shuttled off to Grimmauld Place to live with the Ron, Harry, Hermione and a few other members of the Order.

Exchanges between the two primary characters begin as expected, but Ron starts to notice little things about Malfoy -- his bottom row of teeth, that his hands flitter about when he speaks excitedly about something, that he looks lovely in hues of deep blue-green -- and he doesn't know quite what to do about it...until Draco makes it impossible to ignore.

:sigh:

I think what I adore most about this fic is, surprisingly, not the smut (which I must tell you, is absolutely incredible...[info]exitsign takes porn to blistering levels), but how canon it all feels. Really. This could have been an official interlude between HBP and DH. I'll stop gushing about it and give you a quick peek:

Ron ground his teeth and closed the book hard -- probably a bit harder than technically necessary, actually, as the noise reverberated through the room, loud and out of place in the calm silence of night, making him wince. "What do you want, Malfoy?"

Malfoy looked pained for a moment, as if having some internal battle, and then he sighed loudly, looking up at the ceiling in either some form of silent prayer or to avoid looking at Ron. "I'm bored, all right? There's nothing to do in this disgusting old house and I'm bored. I want something to do."

"Well, find something else to do because you can't do this," Ron said shortly, sliding the closed book away and pulling another one off the nearest stack.

"Why not?" Malfoy whinged. "I can read, you know."

"Really?" Ron asked, smirking to himself, "I always assumed you just paid people to do it for you."

"At least I can--" Malfoy snapped quickly but cut himself off before he could finish.

"What? At least you can what?" He looked up at Malfoy, faking innocence, silently begging him to finish it, begging him to give Ron an excuse to hex him.

Malfoy glowered at him. "Look, just give me a damn book, would you?"

"Fine. Here." He picked up a book that he knew Ginny'd already been through to no result, a safe choice, and slid it hard across the table, laughing when the edge of it rammed into Malfoy's chest.

"Fuck, Weasley, you could have just handed it to me," Malfoy hissed, rubbing his chest and eyeing him.

"Yeah," he said, smiling happily and flipping open his book, "But I didn't."

"What--"

"A locating spell for undefined enchanted objects using only individual magical signature." Ron said, cutting him off, already knowing what he was going to say and not wanting to hear his stupid voice for longer than he absolutely had to.

Malfoy stared at him a moment, and then smirked. "Granger had to write all that out for you, didn't she?"

:flails: Do you see what I mean?

Anyway, if you haven't read "Sea Change", you must go and read it right this minute. And even if you have, you must go and read it again right this minute. Ron would want you to. :)

Have a wonderful week, everyone!

Your faithful co-mod,
[info]sexyscholar

ETA: The lovely [info]stuckinsea reminded me of something. I would be remiss if I didn't mention that there is a sequel (of sorts) to "Sea Change" called "Will Find You Out," and if you thought the porn in "Sea Change" was hot, what [info]exitsign writes in "Will Find You Out" will make you slide out of your chair. :nods: MWAH!

Boy, howdy! Give me two weeks away and now I can't stop posting here in my modly duties. It's Thevina ([info]thrihyrne) yet again, with a couple of housekeeping things. I'd love to have a roll call of sorts from our prospective authors to see how you're doing with your stories. I know that several of you are grateful for the extension until December 30th, but I'd love to hear from everyone if possible, just to know whether or not you're still participating, and if not, to let me know that as well. I won't come and beat you or anything, I'm just curious since I'll want to space out the stories throughout the month of January. So if you would, please reply to this and let me know when you think you'll have your story completed, beta'ed, HTML coded and emailed to be— or if you need to bow out. Thank you!

Also, I've had a few people over the past few weeks request to join this community, and I've gone to your own LJ where there's no age statement, no indication of your age (beyond what I can figure out, and even if I can tell you're over 18, it's not explicitly indicated there), and you've not left a comment here. I feel like we the mods have said this several times, but I'll reiterate it, especially given that we're not flagging ourselves as a comm precisely because you cannot be allowed to join if you're not at least 18: if there's no age statement on your LJ and you've not posted to our age statement post linked above, I'm not going to allow you to join. This is to protect us, 'kay? Thanks!

So... authors, please post here and let me know how you're doing, and we can all get newly invigorated about our stories and prompts and the lovely Ron stories we can look forward to in January.

Rec for the week: "Unexpected," by [info]kaalee
Good morning or afternoon, your mod [info]thrihyrne/Thevina here for this week's rec.

I'm about to treat myself to a re-read of this; I discovered this in 2004 and it was one of the first Ron/Draco stories I read, and is the definitive story which caused them to be my OTP outside of the rather rare pair which had been my OTP at the time, George/Remus. I began writing Ron/Draco after this, and I can't recommend it enough. Part of my hope for this community was to let newer people to HP fandom and some Ron pairings be exposed to older stories which don't get recc'ed as often as some others, and this is one of those. I'm going to use the rec I wrote a couple of years ago, and I hope that you go and read and savour this as I have. There was going to be a sequel at one point which I think [info]kaalee probably isn't going to write, being known primarily as a Seamus/Dean writer now, but this story stands on its own. It is adult, in a most delicious and eloquently-written way.

Without further ado, here's the rec for Unexpected, by [info]kaalee:

Ron in this story has suffered; both from Death Eater torture (thankfully off-screen, as it were), but also from his former partner/lover, who was the one who caused him to be captured. He's back at work at the Ministry, and who should show up to be his new partner but Draco Malfoy, also damaged, and the inter-personal/inter-work-environment relationship is refreshingly complex and, therefore, believable. Awkward. Mistrustful. Ron's a genius at encryption. Draco suffers from claustrophobia. Hotness eventually ensues, and it's so brilliantly masculine. I just can't enthuse enough about this story; it really is tremendous in attention to detail, and her vision of mid-20's, post-War Ron is exquisite.
