Does anybody know why my Gimp keeps saying that there's an error whenever i try to save a complete work?
It's becoming really irritating.
Thanks in advance. :)

I've just downloaded a bunch of pretty brushes and went to install them like I used to on XP and... apparently doing it on Vista is NOT the same. Can anyone help me with how to install my new brushes on Vista?

This has got to be the simplest thing in the world, but evidently the UI is just not intuitive enough for me.

I just want to move a selection. I drag a box around it with the select tool, then switch to the move tool. But all I do is shove the entire picture around, or move the selection box without moving the selection inside it!

Also, is there a way to move a selection an exact number of pixels without having to drag veeerrryyy carefully with the mouse and counting? Maybe a transform dialog with X×Y movement?

I'm using version 2.6.x.

Hi, guys. :) I'm really enjoying this comm because it helps me improve so much.

I'm wondering if anyone would be willing to beta my animated icon tutorial using GAP. I made it for a friend, but I'd love to post it elsewhere. I'd really like someone with experience in making animated icons with GAP to look it over. Most of the people on my f-list either don't use GIMP, or aren't familiar with making animated icons.

Is anyone able to help?

Hi All,

I'm working on my first icon project, a still image with animated text. Here are a couple of draft images that I've worked up, and if you want to know all the details here is the post about it on my journal.

Yet to be done...

I'm thinking of playing with the size and color of individual words to suggest the same emphasis that is present in the song. As far as animating it, I could keep it simple and just have one full phrase fade into the next, but what I really want to do is fade each word in and then out and, ideally, time the fades to the tempo of the phrases in the song.

If anyone has any suggestions for tweaking any of this, I'd be happy for the feedback. Also, if anyone knows of any really good, detailed tutorials for doing what I just described in GIMP with GAP, I would be eternally grateful for any linkage you might be able to provide.

Thanks!!

I spent most of last night trying to lighten this photo w/out getting a nasty sallow yellow tone. I tried curves, fill layers, and levels. Every time I lighten it, it just looks nasty. Can someone help me out here? Can this even be saved? I could really use it...thanks!

I would like to know how to change the background of a icon,
Say, I have this icon below with a white background. How do I make the background blue or example?
If I'm not wrong, I have to use layer masks and stuff like that but does anyone know where I can find very detailed tuts? :D

Thanks for any help in advance!

I recently started using a WACOM tablet + mouse, only I'm having trouble using it in Gimp. The brush tool and the mouse curser aren't matching up; the brush on the screen is aligned to where the mouse is on the tablet, but the mouse curser is not (and the tablet doesn't work this way outside of gimp, works just as regular mouse would). I've tried resetting the GIMP settings as well as reinstalling the tablet without any change. Is there a way I can change the settings so that the brush isn't tracked to the tablet?

Any help is much appreciated!

I was wondering if there was anyway to recreate this text effect in GIMP? If so, how?

Thanks in advance!

I just want to ask what is the best way to blend close up images of a face on a wallpaper.

someone has asked me to make a wallpaper for them but the images are close ups of a face and no matter how hard I try I can't decently blend them together. I've tried layer masks, textures, stock images but I can't get rid of the hard edges without erasing ost of the pic.

any help would be greatly appreciated

Okay, I've been trying to make a border around my text and I found this post: http://community.livejournal.com/gimp_users/301649.html and it's been very helpful, but I have a problem.

How do you get the squiggly lines to go away after you set your text layer to 'alpha to selection'? It's driving me insane! haha.

Photobucket

Why does it look so gross? :(  Can someone help, please?
Edit: It looks extremely nice when I preview it on GIMP but once I upload it to Photobucket, it becomes like that >:(

I have the newest version of GIMP (2.6.6, I guess?) and every time I try to play with the colors of anything (hue, saturation, levels, etc) GIMP freezes and then closes completely. I never had this problem with the older version of GIMP and have no idea how to fix it. I tried deleting it from my computer and downloading an older version, but when I did that it wouldn't even open for me so I ended up downloading this version again. Has anybody else had this problem?

How do you guys save textures so that when you make icons and post them to your livejournal you can credit the texture makers?

I'll be honest, I just recently started using gimp, and got so excited that I saved textures w/out noting who the creaters were.  I haven't posted the icons I've created yet b/c I dont' want to upset/disrepsect that artists that made the textures.

Any advice would be greatly appreciated :)

Hey everyone - I'm new this community and fairly new to GIMP.

While browsing the community I noticed that there are several members (including myself) looking for a comprehensive tutorial for GIMP GAP (specifically video GIF projects). After much searching I finally found one on Deviant Art. It is a fantastic, easy-to-understand tutorial.

Enjoy, and leave fabulous comments :)

I know that everyone is doing tutorials and they can be found everywhere but trying to learn how to use textures has been getting on my nerves so if anyone knows where to find a very very detailed how-to, I'd love you forever :)
It would be great if you could help me :D  )
