Ok so I have been trying not to to watch GG as I've watched it so much in the past 3yrs that I dont want to hate it...yet it's hard and the outcome is that i keep remembering scenes and quotes so I thought I'd share! It's looong!
<lj-cut>,
RORY: Headmaster Charleston, faculty members, fellow students, family and friends, welcome. We never thought this day would come. We prayed for its quick delivery, crossed days off our calendars, counted hours, minutes, and seconds, and now that it's here, I'm sorry it is because it means leaving friends who inspire me and teachers who have been my mentors - so many people who have shaped my life and my fellow students' lives impermeably and forever. I live in two worlds. One is a world of books. I've been a resident of Faulkner's Yoknapatawpha County, hunted the white whale aboard the Pequod, fought alongside Napoleon, sailed a raft with Huck and Jim, committed absurdities with Ignatius J. Reilly, rode a sad train with Anna Karenina, and strolled down Swann's Way. It's a rewarding world, but my second one is by far superior. My second one is populated with characters slightly less eccentric but supremely real, made of flesh and bone, full of love, who are my ultimate inspiration for everything. Richard and Emily Gilmore are kind, decent, unfailingly generous people. They are my twin pillars without whom I could not stand. I am proud to be their grandchild. But my ultimate inspiration comes from my best friend, the dazzling woman from whom I received my name and my life's blood, Lorelai Gilmore. RORY: My mother never gave me any idea that I couldn't do whatever I wanted to do or be whomever I wanted to be. She filled our house with love and fun and books and music, unflagging in her efforts to give me role models from Jane Austen to Eudora Welty to Patti Smith. As she guided me through these incredible eighteen years, I don't know if she ever realized that the person I most wanted to be was her. RORY: Thank you, Mom. You are my guidepost for everything. LUKE: I have a T.V.
LORELAI: No, I mean, in here, in the bedroom so you can watch T.V. in bed.
LUKE [rolls back over]: I don't watch T.V. in bed. Studies show that it's not good for your sleep.
LORELAI: What studies?
LUKE: Watching T.V. in bed screws up your REM sleep.
LORELAI: But Charlie Rose, Jon Stewart, Pink Lady and Jeff?
LUKE: All screw up your REM sleep.
LORELAI: How does Charlie Rose screw up your REM sleep?
LUKE: Because he's always got some guy on pushing a book about how everything's all going to hell, or they're going to pass a law, how everyone with a nose ring is going to get shipped off to China. Suddenly you're depressed, thinking we're all going to die and don't drink the water, there's anthrax in my bagel - and bam, there goes your REM sleep.
LORELAI: Or Mel Brooks is on, and he is so funny, and you think, "What a wonderful world we live in, that there's a Mel Brooks to go to sleep to."
LUKE: Mel Brooks is never on Charlie Rose, and when he is on he's talking about Nazis, and then you go to sleep and you dream about Nazis and they all look like Nathan Lane, and you're creeped out for days.
LORELAI: You know what ruins your REM sleep, is those articles about REM sleep. And you know what could help you forget those articles about REM sleep?
LUKE: What?
LORELAI: A television.
[Luke opens his eyes.]
LORELAI: Say goodnight, Gracie.
LUKE: Goodnight, Gracie.

Kirk: Luke, do you have a lost and found? Luke: Yeah, out back in the Dumpster. Kirk: I need your help, I'm shaking like a spastic colon!
Anyone ever get the feeling that Luke and Kirk are long lost brothers?

Rory Hey Luke?
Luke What? Did you find a nail in your food? I swear to God! Tom, you are dead! Ya hear me? Dead!
Rory There's nothing wrong with the food, Luke.
Luke Oh. Sorry, Tom.

So, what's your favorite Luke and Lorelai exchange?

Does anyone have any idea when Lorleai says something about "we are not sporty people" and then gives some example of some sort? I can't remember what exactly she said...
I know in season 1 rory talks about dressing for gym on her last day at SHH and I know that in season 6 they "work out" at Martha's Vineyard and that in season 7 they play raquetball...but is there something else?
but doesn't she say something about not being "sporty"?

After watching "Rory's Dance" yesterday, specifically the scene between Lorelai and Emily toward the end where Emily tells Lorelai she did a good job "with the dress and with Rory," it got me wondering. What is your favorite moment between Emily and Lorelai, whether it's a nice moment like that one, or a horrible argument?

Quick question.
Does anyone know what episode this quote is from? It's in season one, and I think Babette says, "Anything wrong?" or something along the lines of that and Lorelai goes, "Nothing that Shakespeare couldn't turn into a good play." If someone can find the exact words or tell me what ep. it's from, that would be great, thanks.

I find myself saying this first line all the time when I'm having a bad day....
RORY: You know the beginning of Moby Dick, when the narrator says that when he finds himself growing grim about the mouth and wanted to knock people’s hats off, he takes to the sea?
LOGAN: Yeah.
RORY: Well I feel like knocking people’s hats off.
LOGAN: So I guess we got to take to the sea.
RORY [nodding, looks around]: That one looks good.

The family car wouldn't start today and we found out it was the battery. It got me to thinking about the following exchange between Lorelai and Rory from "Like Mother, Like Daughter":
LORELAI: The car won't start.
RORY: What happened?
LORELAI: I don't know. It's just dead. I turned the key and it makes a horrible sound.
RORY: What kind of sound?
LORELAI: Like rrrar, rrrar, rrrar. You know, but less feminine.
RORY: That's the battery.
LORELAI: Well, what did I ever do to make the battery mad?
RORY: Let's see. You've kept the radio on all night, killing the battery. You've kept the lights on all night, killing the battery. You've kept the door open, which keeps the ceiling light on, all night, killing the battery.
LORELAI: Okay, well then I've done multiple things to make the battery mad.

Can someone please post the quote about how Lorelai makes Sookie get rid of the ennui that Michel "gave" her?
It's one of my favorites. Thanks!

Lorleai is talking to Rory and imitating Emily. She's putting on a posh accent and she says something about "alert the corgi's".
does anyone have the full quote and know what episode it's from? Thanks!
