Census Fun!
Something I stumbled across by accident....one of those many little things you run across in the course of genealogical research:

This is no relation to me, but look at this...from the 1880 Census....in Flint, Michigan....notice the girl Jenny Abertheny who is listed as "no relation" to the head of the household. Her occupation? Prostitute.
Jenny's husband's occupation? "Miserable loafer."

That's awesome. I would love to read more stuff written by that census taker! Or was it the mother who was so brutally honest. Too funny. That would be a fantastic addition to anyone's family tree. "Oh, great uncle Anthony, he was a misserable loafer!"

Ha-ha, that's pretty funny - miserable loafer! I've never seen anything like that on the census I look at - very amusing!

Wow.. The censustaker knew these people personally and must've been bitter when she wrote it out. Are comments like this allowed to be written in?

My guess is Dad wasn't thrilled with his daughter's marriage. Note the 10 year age difference.

hahahahahhaha! You should submit that to the "funnies" on ancestry. I know they were collected documents of people that had ridiculously funny names or statements on their documents!

I was searching the death index for the early 1980s for a town in the Philippines. One of the records were for the RIGHT FOOT OF ALFREDO DE LA VEGA at age 66. Which I guess came off due to gangrene. LOL

Oh that's bizzare! A death certificate just for his foot? He must have really been 'attached' to it... Bu dump bump.
