boygeeks.This is an elite geek community! :D I know that sounds like a bit of an oxymoron, but this is all in fun, really. We're very nice here. (And yes, we know that "intelligent" is spelt wrong in our default icon. It was a typo, and to be honest I can't be bothered to fix it :P)
This community is for all sorts of girl geeks - net!geeks, book!geeks, gamer!geeks, roleplaying!geeks, tomboy!geeks and all the other kinds. But all our geeks are intelligent, articulate, open minded, introverted, and friendly (in their own quiet geeky way). If you think you're all those things and have a couple of geeky obsessions to go with it, feel free to apply!

Please read the Rules before applying and then fill out the following survey and post it to the community under an LJ-cut. Read the tips first! And leave the questions in bold so we can easily see where they stop and your answers begin. Please try and make your answers fairly detailed! The majority of people rejected from this community are rejected because their answers are so short that we have nothing to go on.
- Try and be chatty in your answers. Its the only way we'll get to know you, and a lot of time people aren't so much looking at what you say but how you say it. Short answers and lists don't say that much about you.
- The opinions section is one of the most important parts of the application. Think about your answer before you write it down. This is one of the parts where what you say isn't as important as how you say it.
- Type properly. The odd spelling mistake or typo is okay, but don't fill your application with net speak or nobody will want to read it.
- Do not bash members, whether you're a member or not. If you create trouble, you'll be banned.
- If you're rejected, take it with good grace. You may try again one more time.
- Once you are a member, please try and vote on applications a couple of times a week.
- The only posts that go in this community are applications and mod notices. If you have been approved, you can post pretty much anything you like in
geekmembers.- Don't argue with anybody who disagrees with you. If somebody is being unfair to you I will step in, but otherwise, accept criticism politely - or ignore it.
- When voting, be polite, and not mean.
- Be patient in waiting to be stamped. I will wait til the voting has died down a little before stamping you, and it may take a couple of days.
- Please use the +/- system to signify what you like and what you don't like about an applicant
- Please put either YES or NO the subject of your comment to signfy your approval or rejection. It makes it easier to add up the votes then! :)
- Don't make personal remarks or be horrible to applicants.
- Don't reject them just because you don't share their taste in music/films/whatever. Your judgement should be based on how they answer and their reasons, not what films/whatever they actually name.
- Same goes for opinions. Think about whether or not their answers are clear and well thought out, rather than how their opinion matches yours.
- Some of these questions might seem a bit irrelevant to geekdom but it's all about getting to know the applicants!
