gDiapers for sale

I have a starter set of unused small gdiapers and a package of small refills that my son has grown out of.  The starter kit is not quite complete, I have an orange and a vanilla cover, 3 liners and an opened package of 10 flushable inserts.  I'm pretty sure I also have the swish stick somewhere if you want it, but I'm not sure if the set had a 4th liner and where it is if it did.  Don't remember ever seeing the "s" hook that is mentioned in the "hug" pamphlet.  These are new style with the orange snaps, I bought them back in August/September when I was still pregnant, opened them up to play with and stash in my hospital bag, then never touched them again.  The 40 pack of inserts has never been opened.  I got them as a backup in case I had trouble with cloth diapering, and then fell in love with cloth.  I'd like $30 ppd for the lot, but if that's unreasonable, just make an offer!  I'm happy to take pictures, but all of it is brand new.  I even still have the box for the starter kit.

Liner fit

Hi there!

I'm using size small gdiapers for my lovely little girl (who is roughly 10 lbs 9 oz, 3 months old). I've noticed that the liners are getting stretched out. The only reason I noticed was because I ordered a couple more new ones and noticed there was a difference in the sizes of the ones I've been using for over a month and the new ones: the older ones are more stretched out. Could this be a problem for leaking? Have you guys noticed anything? How long should these liners be able to last? It would be discouraging if we had to buy new ones every so often.

:) Happy diapering!

took velcro off g Diaper and put on snaps

I took off the velcro and put on some snaps. I think I might just like it better than the velcro. I'm not a big fan of velcro anyway, because it tends to get icky.

Nikwax question

Has anyone in here used Nikwax to re-waterproof their liners? I just got some and am about to embark on an adventure and wanted to see if anyone had any advice.

Thanks!

Oh, and Hi! I'm new to this group, I've been on the gdiapers Yahoo! group for a couple of months. I have a nearly 8-month-old, and have been using gdiapers for about 3 months.

Just joined

Hi! Just wanted to introduce myself and proclaim my love for G's. I am a Mama to my 9 month old DD and we've been using G's for about 3 months. I wish I would have found them sooner! We use cloth inserts that I made with microfiber and microfleece or minky and so far I have no major complaints. Now I try to spread the word about G's to all the diapering Mommy's I know, but I only have one covert so far! I'll keep working on it!

homemade laundry soap recipe...a question

http://www.diaperjungle.com/homemade-laundry-detergent.html

as far as I understand...these recipes are supposed to be wonderful for cloth diapers. Does anyone know if this information is indeed true?

Powdered Laundry Detergent

1 Cup Grated Fels Naptha Soap (or Ivory Soap)
1/2 Cup Washing Soda
1/2 Cup Borax

For light load, use 1 tablespoon.
For heavy or heavily soiled load, use 2 tablespoons.

Household Laundry Detergent

1 ounce liquid castile soap
1 cup washing soda (available in the supermarket)
1 cup baking soda
1 cup white vinegar

Fill washer with water and add each ingredient in the order given. Launder as usual.

Storage

Inspired by a recent post on another community about "how do you store your cloth diapers," please ... spam me with details of how you store your gDiapers! I'm 21 weeks pregnant with my first, so I'm not sure how to store ... anything! ... and gDiapers have very unique "parts" to them, compared to regular cloth dipes. So ... spam away, and feel free to include pictures. Thanks.

I'm just curious as to what wipes everyone uses in here (who has kids already).  I'm looking for a "green" alternative to the wipes we use right now but I want to make sure they are good and not  "cheap" looking.  I've tried the Nature Baby Care wipes and just felt they were too thin... any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!  Thank you!

Collection of gDiapers articles

I'm going through my gDiapers email folder, and decided to post some links to articles about g's. This post  could take several weeks to complete, I have that many messages to sort.

Z Recommends Cloth Diaper Showdown

http://zrecs.blogspot.com/2008/03/zrecs-cloth-diaper-showdown.html

This woman evaluated 11 kinds of cloth diapers, including gDiapers. This is what she says about g's:
gDiapers
Style tested: Flushable diaper with cover, prices vary
Ease of use: 4
Durability: 4
Effectiveness: 4.5
Comfort: 4.5
Attractiveness: 5
Value: 3
Total Score: 25/30

gDiapers offers a thoroughly researched and well-designed hybrid diaper. The diaper consists of an inner absorbent pad which nests into a liner which is subsequently snapped into the “little g” pant (akin to a cover). If you're confused by my description, hightail it over to the company's website which has detailed information in an easy to understand format. Many questions you might have will be answered there. And if the website doesn't address your particular question, the company is happy to take phone calls! I found gDiapers to be quite user-friendly.

Learning how to assemble the diaper for use is similar to any cloth diaper. What frightened me the most was the prospect of flushing the liner. It wasn't that I mistrusted the diaper design as much as I feared the plumbing gods. The gDiaper website has much information on flushing and plumbing which encouraged me to give it a go. In order to flush, pull apart the liner. The absorbent pulpy stuff instantly breaks up in the toilet bowl so I knew it would go down easily. The outer part of the liner I found to be trickier because it is a longer papery piece that doesn't just break apart. Nevertheless, on my flushing attempts, all went down with ease. The dDiaper is an innovative, attractive, and trim-fitting option for your baby.

Price may be a drawback. gDiapers currently run $26.99 for starter kit (2 "little g" pants and 10 flushable inserts), $16.99 for individual “little g” pants, $14.49 for 40 size small flushable inserts, and $52.00 for a case of 160 size small inserts.

Selling g's

This is from the cloth diapering community, posted with permission by the author.

My 6 year old is always suggesting to parents of babies or pregnant ladies that they use cloth but today he blew me away.

We've been back in cloth for a week after a week of G diapers (used because we were using A&D for a bad rash) and I didn't realize my son even noticed. Well, today he asked a woman in Target if she was going to cloth diaper and when she said "I don't have a washing machine." Owen said "you should consider G diapers, they are a combination of cloth and paper. You flush the insert down the toilet and keep the cover." The woman and I just looked at each other and I shrugged. She looked annoyed and confused!

This incident was much better than the time he loudly exclaimed in the library;  "It stinks in here, somebody must be wearing paper diapers!"

Tell me, do your older kids push cloth?

Changing colors of gDiaper.

So I bought some used gDiapers, because they were an awesomely decent price, and I got three.  Well one is pink, and I know my partner will be all macho and freak and refuse to put that on HIS baby BOY!.

Is there any way I can safely dye the gDiaper?  Can I use regular dyes?  Its an old style if that matters for anything.

g-mums and dads on the web

I'm going through my gDiapers email folder and found links to other g-communities:
  • gDiapers map: http://www.frappr.com/gdiapers
  • gDiapers photos: http://www.flickr.com/groups/gdiapersonthego/pool/
I'm thinking of starting a "gDiapers in the media" thread as well.

What do you love about gDiapers?

A post in the [info]clothdiapering community prompted me to make my first post as community maintainer:

What do you love about gDiapers?

I love the cuteness.
I love the feeling that I am being environmentally-friendly.
I love the unexpected community that I found in other g-mums and dads.

Anyone else care to share?

Just wanted to say hi! I am having my first little boy April 22.  I am going to gDiaper and cloth diaper.  I am going to hopefully use a diaper service.  I am really excited about it, and just trying to convince my partner it is a good idea...

Just wanted to say hello I am also part of the gDiaper Yahoo Group.

Apparently, g's are catching on. Julia Roberts is a user, but she's not too thrilled about the swishing part. ;)

50% off limited sizes and colors

Because the new little g's will be arriving soon, gHQ is trying to get rid of the old style of g's quickly. The old style gPants are 50% off while supplies last. They have larges in four colors and a small number of red and orange mediums. Smalls are all sold out. Most likely, this will be through the gDiapers site only and not at Whole Foods, Wild Oats, New Seasons, BabyCenter, or wherever else might sell g's. Inserts and liners are on not sale, although cases of inserts are 10% off as usual.
