    Clean Yourself.....
    [xposted to [info]gaymers and [info]randompictures]

Now that I am free and clear of any academic responsibilities for the next three weeks, I have decided to start some projects that I put off for too long. About a month ago I opened all my cartridge games to clean the copper contacts, but then realized a rubber eraser (which is suggested) wouldn't be enough to get the grime off the games. I own about 30 NES, SNES, and N64 games, and I didn't want to be finger-banging them with an eraser for days on end. So I bought some Brasso instead to make the job a helluva lot easier.

Anyone on here playing Borderlands? Geneally, i'm not all that into FPS, but this has got my attention. If you have, i have a few questions. how is it compare to other shooters? Is there cool boss fights and can you play the story mode online beggining to end? Thinking of getting it.

If you're on ps3 network, let me know your id so i can add ya. coolmig01 here.

Concept for a Superhero Play-By-Post game
Ok, ever since I got Google Wave (thanks, badjahsensei) I have been cooking up ideas for a play-by-post game. And this weekend of Champions Online has me on a comic book kick.

I tend to do this a lot. Get on "kicks" for certain genres of stories and role playing games. It's hard to tell sometimes how long they will last, which can be a challenge for me running any sort of game... but enough hand wringing.

Anyway, I was thinking of running a Play-By-Post superhero game. This morning in the shower I hit on a really interesting format for such a game. Instead of the usual, the game would be set in "frames", like The Neverending Story or 1001 Nights. The story would essentially be about a boy named Jeremy who lost his father, and discovered his father's extensive collection of comic books. He sits down to read them, and that's where the PC's come in; they are characters in the comic books Jeremy is reading.

Basically I could tell a story about what is happening to the boy in the real world, and then when he goes home and reads his comics, the events in the comic book can "echo" to the events of Jeremy's life, and try to see how the events of the comic can affect Jeremy. I like this idea because it adds depth to what could easily become a corny, campy, flat campaign.

This also gives an opportunity to play around a bit with the narrative. Instead of being forced to proceed down a linear timeline, this game has an opportunity to jump around. With Google Wave, setting up side quests should be easy. (perhaps one or more of the characters can have their own title.) I could even travel back in time with the characters when Jeremy reads an old Silver Age or maybe even a Golden Age comic.

System-wise, I will probably use Mutants and Masterminds rpg, and perhaps pick up the Champions setting book as an idea farm. I could try Hero System if I get a lot of requests for it, but I think M&M is the Superhero RPG of choice in the circles I run in.

Anyway, here's the pitch: If anyone is interested in playing in a superhero PBP, leave a comment here, or toss me an E-Mail (m d fellows at Gmail) and if I get enough interest I will give this thing a shot. Don't sweat it if you don't have Google Wave. I have invites. I will be posting this to Livejournal groups like Gaycomicgeeks, Gaymers, RPG Bears (note that I am not necessarily looking for a gay-exclusive game,) and a few forums I know of that may have interested parties. I need people who will maintain interest; the more interested my players are, the more likely I will check the waves often. What happens within the context of the comic depends a lot on what the players want to see.

    Red Ring of Death
My 360 died. AGAIN. Sending it in for repairs. I mean, what the hell? You would think by now they would acutally FIX the problem. I shouldn't have to turn it in 3 times when theys should've fixed it on the first one. Oh well. Their loss of money.

Still looking for peeps to add to my ps3. coolmig1. Anyone wanna play? This is the games I am currently playing:

Marvel Ultimate Alliance 2 (complete w/ the DL characters)
    Uncharted 2
and getting Super SF4 as soon as it comes out

Man on Man Action in Bioware RPG Dragon Age (possibly NSFW)

I'm amazed that this made it into a mainstream videogame. I've played countless RPGs that flat-out deny you a gay option or else limit it to female characters, so this is a huge step forward.

While the Sims hit this territory first in the second game (if I recall), this is the first time I've seen this in a story-centric game.

I wasn't too interested in the game until I saw this, but I think it's a must-buy now since one of my pet interests is gay representation in video games.

    Clothing/Gear Whore is me!

I am all about hot looking-gear. I was like that when I played WoW. Above is my Aion toon in plate gear at lvl 30ish.

Ok. So this is why Aion is the best and I love it with my face.

Ok, so in WoW, you know how you can get special clothing/gear...like a Tux Shirt, Lederhousen and Red Santa Outfit. Ok. People kill for that stuff on WoW sometimes.

Ok. *deepbreath*. Ok. So Aion has similar things. They got Korean outfits, Chinese traditional outfits, X-Mas clothes, etc. You buy them and then you are happy.

So one of the greatest features on Aion is that you are able to take gear and modify them to make them look like different gear.

For example. You got Tier 5 Shoulders....You just got some Tier 6 shoulder. Well, you like the look of T-5, but you want the T-6 stats. Aion allows you to do that. You can take both items to a vendor and tell him to change the skin of the Tier 6, to look like Tier 5 but keep the T-6 Stats.

zomg you know where I am gong with this.

    Xbox Live... Humbug!
So, I finally got my Xbox 360 online. I had the 1 month free trial i hadn't used yet and was planning on purchising Gold right after it expires. Gotta say though, not loving it so far. In fact, I fucking hate it! lol

First of all, it was a nightmare just getting it online. Passwords this, gotta have a @live.com email that... NIGHTMARE. It took me about a minute to set up both the wii and ps3. Everything seemed a lot more user friendly w/ those consoles. Several calls later, i finally get the 360 online. Now it's downloading the new dashboard. Okay, I just want to try out the online gaming, damn it! Finally, it's done. Lets try out Resident Evil 5 online! WTF? Where's all my special features and weapons?!?! ARRGH!!!

Apparantly, when I made the Xbox Live account, I did it under a different gamertag so I can't use all my save files if i want to play online. Don't know how I did that since once again, hooking it up online was a total nightmare and the instructions were as clear as mud. I looked around and apparently I'm SOL since my old gamertag wasn't ever on Live. I would need to purchase another Live Account for that one. Uhh, no.

So I don't want to hear anything else about how Live is so much better than PS3 network, cause no, no it's not. Been downloading demos w/ my PS3 w/ so much ease. Been adding friends i don't even know just by playing Lost Planet 2 demo online and my favorite little system right now remembers the last players i played w/ so its REALLY EASY to add them. Just everything seems so easy to figure out w/ the PS3 while it's been the complete oppisite w/ Live in my personal experience.

Has anyone else had this much trouble w/ live?

    Memory for my PS3
I was hoping I could get some advice from all you fellow gamers out there.

I know that the hard disk drive of the PS3 can be swapped out, if desired, but I don't know which type of drive I need. Basically my question is: Can I go to Amazon or Buy.com and buy any laptop hard disk drive for my PS3, or do I need a specific type of laptop hard drive? I know I need a 2.5" SATA hard dive, but my question deals with brands, I guess. Are there any specifics I should be looking for? Right now there is a 1TB hard drive for $106 on buy.com, which I think would be stellar to have inside a new PS3. Please help a clueless fellow gamer!

    This is pretty interesting
I don't know how many Counterstrike players we have here, but I'm going to guess there's a few of you. Even if you don't play it, which I don't, you should find it an interesting read at the very least. It's about a mod for Counterstrike a guy made, and how it's turned (unintentionally) into some kind of gay rights statement.
    Anyway, give it a look!

Tabletop Gaming in the Twin Cities
    ... or anywhere new, really.

So, the boyfriend and I just moved to Minneapolis after 4 years of my being in college in Florida (he's from MN), which meant leaving behind all of our tabletop roleplaying groups and friends. Towards the end, we were actively participating in a World of Darkness (mortals) game that I ran, a Shadowrun game that the bf ran, and a 4th ed. D&D game that some former dorm-mates ran. Going from three games a week to absolutely no gaming at all has been more than a little jarring.

But now that we're starting to settle in and have jobs, I kind of want to start looking for gaming groups here. The problem is that I'm not really sure where to find them. We've been to a few local gaming shops, but they all seemed to be really focused on other games (M:tG, mostly).

And then I worry that even if we do find a group that's seeking new players, the "so can my boyfriend play too?" element will be an issue. Going to a tiny liberal arts school meant I could almost always assume anyone I spoke to wasn't going to, well, kill me with sticks for being gay. The real world is scarier. :(

So, to those who've relocated but not stopped gaming, any tips?

    Aion Recruiting! :D
If you play or are thinking of playing Aion, read on.

I want to let you guys know of our Legion for any Asmodians in Triniel (NA)!

    http://delirium-legion.com/

We are a fun mature guild (18+ only). We are not hard core, but we are not soft either. We want to get to end game and progress in both PvP and PvE areas.

Right now everyone is focusing on leveling and crafting. We got a few upper 30 and low 40 toons. We also have crafters that craft items for Legion members, and they are over 300 in crafting skill. (I'm a slacker at 135 Armorsmith Q.Q )

Check out the website and read about us ^_^!

Call of Duty 1 and Call of Duty United Offensive...trouble with Vista
    Hey all

I'm trying to get both these games to run properly under vista...this is the first time ive tried it with vista...xp ran them perfectly.

My system specs are more than recommended...

    AMD Turion(tm) 64 X2 Mobile Technology TL-60

2.00 GHz Performance Rated at: 3.2 GHz

    1.9 GB RAM

Microsoft Windows Vista Home Premium Edition, 32-bit (Build Service Pack 16001)

    ATI Radeon X1200 Series

Now i know the graphics card ain't great, but it exceeds the recommended specs for the game and runs WoW just fine. I've heard Vista Pro is better than home but I will not pay for more Vista shit. I've installed Direct x 9 as this game is not compatible with DX10. I'm encountering graphical errors in multiplayer, the game won't continue past a certain point in Single Player, and suffering from unheard of lag in multiplayer...my net connection is beyond decent enough for this.

Anyone know of any ways to get these games to work well under Vista (I've also tried Compatibility and Run as Admin).
