    Champions Online

Speaking as a complete fanboi of CoH (the predecessor of this game shown), I think Champions Online looks like shit. Everything from the cell-shading to the names of the villains is exaggerated to the point of being ludicrous - Doctor Destroyer and Menton? The short bit of story given all sounds like rejected CoH missions resurrected because nothing better was available.

    Gen Con '09
    First of all, anybody going?

This will be my first trip, my "pilgrimage" if you will.

I am not a regular con-goer by any means, and was looking for thoughts, advice, stories, whatever.

I am going with my brother and two friends, whom I definitely trust and am sharing a hotel room with. We've already got the hotel room, and while I haven't purchased my con badge yet, I plan on ordering it monday.

The people I am rooming with have pretty much got their trip nearly completely planned, which events they are going to and with who- the whole shebang- but I am not sure that is the route I want to go. I expect I will do some planning, but I am not really sure how much I want to plan. I can be a little capricious, so I am worried if I overplan, I will end up getting tied to a schedule and go crazy trying to keep it with all of the- ooh, shiney! On the other hand, I don't want to underplan and end up bored/dissappointed. For my first trip, what do you recommend?

E3 New Super Mario Brothers Wii Review

Oh my I want this like now! I just love the Mario 2d side scrollers! I loved the one on the DS and this looks even better. I can't see myself playing the 4 player mode though. I would just get pissed off at people getting in my way lol.

Lookin for a CoH SuperGroup on Victory
After a dramasplosin, I've departed my former SG.

I'm looking for a gay friendly SG on Victory for my toons. Preferably a group that uses Teamspeak or Ventrillo.

I'm in for the camaraderie as much as the experience & influence. ;)

    Any suggestions?

    Why do they do this?

    Why why why why why?

A 4th Silent Hill game, shipped off and left to rot in an American developer's studio, except it's even worse this time since they decided to "reiamgine" the original game.Basically they fucked the game in the face. They ripped out all of the psycologically disturbing aspects- the parts in the game where you feel something hard in your stomach because you know shit is just fucked up, and replaced it with a titi-slasher flick. I'll admit that the scene with the first monster encounter shown is pretty damn scary, but it is one block in the "stupid teen slasher flick" wall. The over the shoulder camera, the new hiding mechanic and the reimagined slutcake Dahlia, all complete the typical bads slasher movie. It might be the Dahlia thing that pisses me off the most. She goes from a 30-40 something year old witch, to a low waistline jean-wearing, stripper.

    The Best E3 in years
I haven't been so excited for games I can't play in a long time! Every system seems to be getting a lot of love! I don't have any of these systems but I have friends who do and I can't wait to play some of these games!
For no reason other than, "I can," here are the ones I'm most excited for:

    Now in TECHNICOLOR!
I picked up both inFAMOUS and Cross Edge this week for the PS3... Cross Edge had a non color manual. This is starting to really piss me off. More than half of my PS3 game manual/booklets have no color or are in black and white! This is really not acceptable. If you can make video game instruction manuals in color in 1985 and keep the costs of the finish product below $50 what the fuck is so hard about doing it now? We're living in the year 2009 and this simple basic concept of printing something in color eludes these lazy ass publishers. I know it's a small thing to bitch about, but when I'm paying $50+ for a god damn game it had very well have a color manual.

    /end rant.

    Another character, Another back story.
I am starting another character, when I start new characters I tend to write long back stories. Because it is 1800 words I decided not to post it here but if you are interested feel free to look at my blog and read it.

My character is Rook, a con artist in the Serenity RPG.

    Xbox Repair
Today I decided to send in my Xbox 360 for repair, thing is the xbox is out of warranty and I used a little white lie to get them to cover it under the red ring of death warranty. So I was wondering whether anybody had come across anybody else who used the same "technique" and got in any sort of trouble. My original problem was the two lights, it's over heating, and there is no way in hell that I'm paying 99$. I understand in advance the critiques that I am "cheap" and a "liar"... Anyone?

    Serenity RPG Short Story
My Friday DnD group is starting a Serenity game. My friend Blake has said he plans to play a character who will fuck it, kill it or eat it probably while yelling.

I wanted to make a comment about his character walking in to a bar, screaming, then punching the bartender, bending him over the bar and fucking his while eating bar peanuts. I ended up with this story. No sex in story, and don’t worry once they were alone the bartender was 100% willing.

    >>>+++OOO+++<<<

It was just dark on the third moon of Bellkir. The days were long and work was grueling when you could get it. Ships rarely landed here so when a battered and nameless prison ship landed it was instant news in the Windsor Dune Tavern. According to Jeanette; a woman whose virtue was no longer even negotiated, the crew consisted of vagabonds most likely criminals. Depending on who you talked too the arrival of strangers on the moon was either good because they usually brought with them much needed money, or bad because the usually brought with them much too plentiful trouble. When an unfamiliar man stormed in to the Tavern it was assumed he was a member of the aforementioned crew, and he didn’t look like the type to carry much spending money.

This man was tall and broad shouldered, clad mostly in dusty leather and guns. This man silhouetted in the doorway by the pale neon light of the tavern sign in the street, pointed to the bartender and with a voice filled with the rumble of a new tech grav-drive demanded he bring out an unopened bottle of old 151 and set up two shots of the same. The bartender; a young man in his early twenties with what most would call a pretty but unremarkable face, had the bottle out and was setting up the glasses before the stranger reached the bar. Once in the Tavern the stranger looked both more human and more intimidating. He has an angry scar running from above his left eye down his face and neck, disappearing behind the collar of his coat. His coat was brown meaning it once belonged to a resistance officer. No one would assume that officer was this man however. The coat was rattled in bullet holes, both sleeves had been removed and it had been roughly shortened to just above waist level. Leaving the mans’ guns clearly visible.

The man stood waiting for the apparently nervous bartender to pour two shots. The young man gingerly placed both shots, one in each hand, in front of the stranger. Before he could draw his hands back the Stranger grabbed the bartenders’ right hand and said “Have a drink with me, Kid.”

The bartender shook his head and insisted “S-Sir, I’m not allowed to have drinks.”

“S’all right boy, I’m paying and I hate to be drinkin alone.” He then slid one of the shot glasses in to the bartenders hand and released it when his fingers closed around the glass. The strangers slammed back his shot then looked expectantly at the bartender still holding his shot. The bartender gingerly brought the glass to him mouth and looked around the bar room. No one was objecting or looked ready to do anything to take the strangers uncomfortable attention away. So he drank his shot and slammed it face down on the bar. The stranger grinned, “Good boy. Now you can help me polish the sucker off.” He said raising the full bottle of old 151.

“I’m sorry Sir but I really can’t drink while on the job. You are welcome to take the bottle back to your ship and share it with your crew.” The bartender said with obvious stress in his voice. The stranger was looking at him with a predatory expression he was not used too.

The strangers glare turned harsh he leaned over the bar and hissed in to the bartenders face, “Naw, they don like drinken with me no more, they say I get inapriately familiar when I’m drinkin. Whats a matter, you don’t appreciate my company?”

“It’s not that Sir it’s just I am on the clock and…” The bartender began but was interrupted by the Strangers Booming voice.

“Well then consider yourself clocked out, you’re coming with me!” With that loud declaration he hefted the bartender from behind the bar and threw him over his shoulder. He tucked the bottle under one arm and marched to the door. Once there he turned around to face the room, one hand on his gun the other on the bartenders’ ass keeping him steady. “Y’all can poor your own drinks for the rest o the night, right?” The room was silent as no one challenged the stranger he then turned and walked out the door. “We’el see if I get too familiar with yah, Boy.”

    PS3 Clues?
Is it me, or does it seem like Amazon is trying to unload its current PS3 inventory? Right now, the Drake's Fortune edition is $479.99, or $20 off the regular price of 499.99. On the video games front page of that site, there is a special going on that gives away a free PS3 controller if you order a stand-alone 80GB PS3. Amazon also knocked $10 off the price of the 80GB version. That is a fairly nice deal.

Could all these price cuts, special offers, and sales be related to the rumors that there is a PS3 slim out there somewhere? Could it be possible that Amazon is privy to knowledge that a redesigned system is coming down the pipe soon, and they want to unload the "fatty" PS3s?

I don't know about you all, but the PS3 could use a redesign that makes it lighter, cooler, and more energy efficient. Apparently, that is what the 45nm chipset is supposed to do. Now if Sony could just lower the price about $50...

    The Super Nintendo Dilemma
I've been getting the itch to (re)buy a Super Nintendo. I have fond memories of the games I used to play, when I owned that system, so I was thinking of buying a Super. For the most part, a well taken care of used system goes for approximately $80 on eBay, which in my book is reasonable. Then I realized I can buy a Wii to do the exact same thing. The problem with the Wii is that there aren't too many good Wii games; that is: There is entirely too much shovel-ware on that system to warrant buying that system for Wii games.

    So...

Should I buy a Super Nintendo to play SNES games only, or should I buy a Wii and download the SNES games I would buy anyway for the Super, and therefore have another system to support? I mean, there are some good games on the Wii, but they are few and far between. A Wii costs $250 and DLC Super games cost $8 I think. Would it be smarter for me to just forgo the $80 Super NES? Would that be financially smart?

Eh. I ramble. Any suggestions would be appreciated regarding this subject.
