[Log] Lesson #1 at GateMUSH: Don't Talk About His Sister Like That
Who: Emil Castagnier, Senel Coolidge
When: 12.21.2008
Where: Kaiju Ravaged Tokyo
What: Emil, notices something strange about Shirley, and he makes the mistake of voicing it to Senel. Senel gets mad. I'm sure you know what happens next...
Watch For: See that bus? Yeah. See that bus go flying.
Need tags for Emil Castagnier and Senel Coolidge please? :D
It's a perfectly ordinary afternoon in Kaiju-Ravaged Tokyo. That is to say, it is quiet now but by evening it's probably going to be on fire. You know, the usual sort of affairs.
Today's giant monster is not particularly giant, though at least he DOES look kind of monstrous. A young, white-haired man in a slightly tattered white and black uniform is currently wandering the streets of Tokyo, accompanied by a blonde girl. The girl looks perfectly ordinary, her strange open-front dress easily explainable as being just one of many Japanese fashion trends. The man, on the other hand... well, he must be from another Gate, because the strange pieces of metal stickout out of his shoulders and forearms, the oversized metal nuts screwed to his wrists and ankles, and broken manacle around his right leg scream "does not belong".
The girl, for her part, is happily eating an ice cream cone while the man warily watches the passers by, and earns suspicious glances out of the corners of their eyes in return. "We should keep moving, Shirley," he says. "I don't like this Gate, there are a lot of people and they're all staring at us."
"But Senel, we've been traveling all day," the girl replies. "Can't we just take a short break?"
The man seems like he'd like to say something, but acquiesces when the girl gives him a pleading look.
That's okay, Senel. You're not the only one getting started at.
Emil is walking along the sidewalk... his green eyes are opened wide and he is just staring at the buildings up above. "Woah... See that, Tenebrae? I've never seen anything so *tall*." He's completely bewildered by this. Of course, even if he *is* from Palmacosta, it's still considered 'backwater,' all things considered. The black creature is hovering along behind Emil, its long tail hooked up over its body. Tenebrae is managing to keep himself hidden from the regular citizens. It's something he does once in awhile- and of course, as Emil's linked to Ratatosk, and subsequently, to the Centurion, he's (only somewhat) aware of the creature behind him. Of course, if one with the right kind of abilities were to look- they'd easily see the panther-dog-thing... but it might appear somewhat ghostly to them. "This is, apparently, a world that has not had unfortunate events preventing its development. I'm sure that there are other planes that are just as advanced as this, if not more, Emil. You should try and keep your excitement contained."
But telling the young traveller is not going to work. If not for his clothing- the blue and black outfit, that is- looking strange and out of place, but for his absent minded view of everything around him. He's got his eyes held up, and not to the street.
This may not end well when he turns that corner, not realizing that Senel and Shirley are right there.
Sadly, despite Senel's overprotective nature of the girl beside him, he doesn't have a sixth sense for danger. Emil manages to round the corner just as Senel is glancing the other direction, and the boy runs right into Shirley. "Ah!" she says in surprise, the scoop of ice cream slipping off of her cone and plummeting, as if in slow motion, to the ground.
The yelp draws the white-haired youth's attention far faster than Emil is likely prepared for. Before he has time to get off an apology, if he's the sort to apologize for destroying a girl's ice cream, Senel is in the boy's face. "Hey! Watch where you're going!" he says, positively glowering at the knight of Ratatosk. Though the the difference in height is a mere matter of centimeters, Senel practically seems to tower over the other boy with his imposing demeanor.
"M-my ice cream..." laments Shirley, staring forlornly at the strawberry-flavored lump slowly melting on the ground. Since this Gate is totally in the middle of late spring, intead of late fall, thus explaining why someone would be eating ice cream.
Emil lets out a bit of a stunned yelp after walking into Shirley. He staggers back a bit, and opens his mouth to apologize, when... he sees the older brother in front of him... and tower Senel does. In fact, out of sheer intimidation, Emil seems to simply try and shrink so that he's suddenly completely invisible to Senel's fury. "I... I..." There are a couple of stammered syllables, but he cannot bring himself to have the courage to complete that thought on his mind. At least, until he takes a deep breath, and apologizes twice. Once to Senel, then once to Shirley. He quickly looks to the side, trying to find Tenebrae, in hopes that the Centurion could help, but suddenly- he was apparently, nowhere to be found. "I- I'll be more careful next time." And he turns to make the attempt to take off and hide until the white haired youth's glare was no longer on him- it was very very scary.
Unfortunately, his attempt to retreat is quickly halted as the Centurion acts to try and keep itself invisible to the strange pair- but speaks up. "Emil, can't you feel that there's something about her?" The blonde boy, looks in both directions, trying to find the source of Tenebrae's voice, before he turns around and tries to peer around Senel and look at the girl. "I don't see anything weird about her, Tenebrae." A pause. "Unless you're thinking about that outfit, and even then, it's not all that weird. It's kinda cute." --the problem with Tenebrae remaining invisible, is that Emil now looks like an idiot, talking to nothing.
"Hmph," Senel snorts. It looks like he's about to let Emil off with just scaring the crap out of him... until he starts making comments about Shirley, anyway. "What did you say?" the Alliance Marine snaps, taking another step forward and invading Emil's personal space in the way only an angry older brother can. "Do you have a problem with the way my sister's dress!?" GLARE GLARE GLARE. You can practically see the vein twitching on Senel's forehead.
"Senel, stop that!" Shirley quickly says, ice cream forgotten as she grabs her brother's arm. "Look how bad you're scaring him! It's not like he said anything bad, anyway."
The white-haired youth continues to glare at Emil for a few moments more, as if daring him to say something else, then takes a step back again.
There's a panicked yelp from Emil as he suddenly takes a step back at Senel's 'scary big brother' glare. "I- it's a very good dress, sir!" He states this before looking to Shirley. -but that's when something in him clicks. He just stares at her for a moment- before he quickly looks to Senel again. "Uh..." He quickly lowers his head.
The kid doesn't really fully understand all of his powers since he made the pact. But he's noticed things 'felt' strange since stepping out of the Gate from his own plane. He'll get back to it, of course. But that's eventually. He owes the guy who helped him, anyhow. But back to the real problem. He's finding that he 'senses' something about the girl. He doesn't know *what* it is, but... "Did you know that there's something strange about her?"
Emil, when you have a scary white-haired marine glaring down at you and getting ready to /eat your friggin' head/, you should not say crap like that. ...but Emil doesn't know better sometimes... and Tenebrae is actually not going to help him. Getting roughed up by an overprotective big brother might be good for the kid.
Poor Emil. Poor, poor Emil. He ALMOST made it away unharmed, and if not for his big mouth Senel would have let him walk away with only his pride in tatters. As it stands, the boy continues to glare warily as Emil keeps his eyes on the girl, and is about to tell him to knock it off when the terrible words come.
Senel's eyes widen for a moment, then narrow dangerously. "...stop staring at her!" he yells at the knight of Ratatosk. If that not-so-subtle hint wasn't enough to get the point across, the not-so-gentle palm that goes for Emil's chest with way more force than is necessary to push him away ought to be a little clearer.
Senel Coolidge gets a glancing blow on Emil Castagnier with his GTFO feint.
There's a shout of pain and Emil's knocked back several feet, before he hits the ground and tumbles away from Senel. The kid remains there in silence, before he sets a hand down on the ground. His eyes remain focused to the pavement as well.
There are a few people around them that has noticed this, and they've stopped to stare in their direction.... but Emil is doing nothing. He's not moving, he's not speaking. He's simply pushing himself up, and looking downwards. It's near impossible to figure what's going through this kid's head. Is he going to try to apologize again? Or will he attempt to just turn and run?
"Senel!" Shirley says, obviously surprised by her brother's violent outburst. "Why did you do that? Oh, are you alright? I'm so sorry about my brother!" the girl says as she moves to Emil's side to help him up. "He didn't hurt you, did he? I'm really, rreally sorry..."
Senel follows hot on his sister's heels when she runs forward. "Don't get near him, Shirley," the white-haired youth says. "There's something wrong with him." Of course, the 'something' that Senel is talking about is how Emil noticed there's something strange about his sister, not that the boy is uncharacteristically quiet on the ground.
Emil lets out a slow breath. He never hears Shirley's words. It's almost like the world itself stops for a split second- such as something unnatural is causing it to hold its breath, but it lasts only for what could be considered a heartbeat. The air seems to just... push back and away from him. And quickly, the once cowardly boy looks up towards the blonde, his red eyes focused on her. He watches her, before he snarls, then looks back up towards Senel. "...something wrong with /me/?" And a twisted, maniacal grin shows itself suddenly, before he hops up and away from Shirley. "Or perhaps you're not willing to admit it about her?"
The Knight quickly looks towards Shirley. "Who are you? No- /what/ are you?" The boy has changed so much- but he dares not attack the girl. Not from what he feels from her. The only thing keeping him from launching an attack in retaliation to Senel is the fact that she's stunned him a bit, but maybe if he recalls tha-... oh, hey.
Finally, he brings his hand to his chest, feeling that pain. Oh, right. That's what happened.
Wild, red eyes turn on Senel this time, before Emil reaches for the hilt of the blade across the back of his waist. "...you're strong to land a hit like that..." There's a bit of an unsettling laugh before he launches himself in the marine's direction. "But how strong *are* you, really?!" With the hiss of steel, the weapon is drawn quickly from its sheath and he suddenly launches a single swipe in Senel's direction.
You get a glancing blow on Senel Coolidge with your How about this for a start? feint.
"Shirley, MOVE!" Senel yells as he pushes his sister to the side. His arms are raised to a defensive stance immediately, the blade slicing cleanly across his forearms and drawing thin lines of blood. There's a grimace of pain from the Marine, but he doesn't make a sound. "I don't know what the hell you are," the white-haired youth says as he charges forward into hand-to-hand range, hoping to take advantage of Emil's recovery time to land a quick one-two punch in the knight's gut. "But stop talking about my sister that way!" The two blows are followed up with a roundhouse kick to knock Emil onto his ass.
Shirley gasps as she's pushed, stumbling but not falling down. She backs up against the wall of a nearby building, hand at her mouth and a frightened expression on her face. Why does this always happen?
Senel Coolidge hits Emil Castagnier with his Swords? SWORDS!? We don't need to steenkin' swords! attack.
Shirley, for now, is forgotten. Emil is struck once, then again. He's finally kicked and knocked back and into the street. However, he manages to flip, mid-air, and land on the cross-walk. There's the blare of a horn as a car nearly careens into him. The kid leaps up into the air again, and flips towards Senel. First he strikes the brawler in the chest, using the flat of his blade to throw Senel into the air- and he quickly follows after. The Knight of Ratatosk cuts the blade through the air once, twice, then a third time. But before he releases the white haired youth, so that he may drop to the ground, Emil flips again, summoning blades of wind to surround him and cut through Senel at multiple points.
"Are you telling me that you can't sense it?!" Emil drops to the ground at the very edge of the sidewalk and the street, kneeling slightly, and using his left hand to stablize himself. He finally rises up to stand and hold the blade out in front of him.
You critically strike Senel Coolidge with your What goes up, must come down, of course! attack.
There's little Senel can do as he's thrown skywards, as every attempt at an aerial recovery is interrupted by another stroke of the sword. He finally manages to turn upright as Emil falls back to the ground, only for his landing to be interrupted by the blades of wind that arc in from all directions.
There's a heavy thud as the Marine impacts the ground hard, accompanied by a grunt of the air being knocked out of him. This is nothing, though, compared to the battles he's fought back home. Just some upstart kid with waaaay more power than he has any right to have. He climbs back to his feet quickly and runs at Emil, traffic stopping on either side of him as the drivers get out to flee in terror.
A fist winds back as Senel approaches the knight of Ratatosk, fingertips glowing a brilliant ocean blue-- a similar power to what Emil noticed from Shirley, although on a far weaker level. Before the strike can connect, however, the Marine drops to the ground and sweeps his leg, trying to knock the swordsman off of his feet again with a vicious kick.
The kick is soon followed up as one of Senel's hands darts forward to grab Emil by the ankle, power flaring as he tries to lift the boy effortlessly off the ground with one hand, swings him overhead, and slam him into the hood of an abandoned car.
Senel Coolidge gets a glancing blow on Emil Castagnier with his How many stunt dice to I get for using the environment? attack.
"You are...!" As Emil's picked up the power that resonates from Shirley, he's aware of it enough to find that he has no trouble registering what Senel is drawing on. This is enough to startle him into being unable to defend against the strike coming in his direction. This, in fact, leaves him entirely open to having his feet swept from underneath him. The kid is grabbed, and there's a loud swear shouted at the marine as the knight is lifted up and slammed down towards the hood of the car.
Emil tumbles off of the hood, leaving the indention, before he hops back a couple of steps, being sure to look both ways (that's a good boy! Don't want to get run over!)- then he charges towards Senel. When it looks as if the Knight of Ratatosk is going to drive the blade towards the marine, he instead leaps into the air, igniting himself before driving a fiery foot down in the other youth's direction.
You hit Senel Coolidge with your Havoc Strike + Ignis = ??? (Profit?) attack.
"Stop talking about Shirley like that!" Senel snarls as Emil hops back, preparing to grab him and slam him into another car. The sudden leap catches the Marine off guard, however, and leaves him wide open as the fiery kick hits him in the shoulder and knocks him to the ground again. As he gets up the blue glow returns to his hands, and his fist lashes out at nothing. He's out of range to punch, after all, what is he going to hit? Air?
Actually, that's exactly right. The power of the iron eres makes Senel's punch strong enough to create a visible shockwave in the air, quickly followed by a second shockwave as the white-haired man throws a follow-up punch. The waves of pressure race across the ground towards Emil at lightning speed.
Senel Coolidge gets a glancing blow on Emil Castagnier with his Double Demon Fist feint.
Emil finds that he is struck by one of the shockwaves, but he quickly sweeps his own blade out, "Demon Fang!" He casts out another shockwave to cancel out the second. He grits his teeth before he quickly charges towards Senel. The blade is thrust in his direction, and the blonde continues to push forward, intending to knock him back. "Talk about her like /what/?" One attack, then another- He quickly rears back, taking the blade in both hands and knocks Senel upwards. Not one to wait, the knight leaps after him. He calls out the attack again, to send that shockwave through the air and knock Senel back to the earth, again- but this time with more force, and to throw him further away this time.
"You *are* blind. I'd think that someone with power like that could see her for what she is." The crazed Emil almost even spits these words out at his disgust for the marine. "Do you not want to accept her potential, and actually want to hold her back?"
You hit Senel Coolidge with your Demon Fang - Midair style! attack.
"Shut up!" Senel yells at Emil. He raises his arms again to defend against the strikes, but the thrust manages to break his guard and give Emil the opportunity he needs to air juggle the white-haired man again, the demon fang at the end of the combo sending him tumbling down the street and into the front of an abandoned bus, leaving a Senel-shaped dent in the grill.
Shirley lets out a yelp of surprise. "Senel!" she calls out, beginning to run down the street, but she's quickly cut off as her older brother orders her, "Stay back, Shirley!"
There's another flare of power around Senel's hands as his fingertips begin to glow again, that icy blue that seems reminiscent of raging water. "Stop talking about 'power' and 'potential'," he growls. Rather than charge at Emil again, though, the Marine turns around and punches through the front of the bus, grasping the engine block firmly with both hands. "She's just an ordinary girl, so...!" Power surges even more as, with a grunt of effort he actually manages to lift the ten tun bus off the ground (albeit only a few inches).
"STAY AWAY FROM MY SISTEEEEEEEER!!" the youth rages as he swings around with bus in hand, trying to use the damned thing as a blunt force weapon and smash Emil into a thick paste. Inertia gets the better of him as he finishes his swing, letting go of the bus and letting it tumble and roll down the street.
After a few seconds, the bus inexplicibly explodes.
Senel Coolidge hits Emil Castagnier with his *BUS* super.
Live News> We now cut to breaking news in Kaiju-Ravaged Tokyo, where a reporter whose words are not quite in sync with his lips is reporting on the latest attack-induced property damage! In the background, two people can be seen fighting in the middle of a street full of abandoned cars.
Live News> What the reporter has to say isn't nearly as interesting as the fight in the background. One of the men suddenly picks up a bus and hurls the damn thing at the other, with the roared words "STAY AWAY FROM MY SISTEEEEEEEER!!" drowning out the reporter. The bus flies for the camera, skids across the ground, then comes to a stop mere feet before hitting it.
Live News> Several seconds later, the bus explodes for no particular reason. WE ARE EXPERIENCING TECHINCAL DIFFICULTIES.
"You are /obsessed/!" The red-eyed blonde shouts out towards Senel. He blinks, seeing the marine punch into the bus and swing it in his direction. The knight makes the attempt to dive out of the way, when- oh hey, he's not able to get into the air fast enough. The bus hits Emil and he is slammed back and through the window of a small boutique. Emil slowly pulls himself to stand, glass having cut through the fabric of his clothing, and leaving streaks of blood along his bare shoulders. He reaches out with a hand. "Tenebrae!"
"Yes, Lord Emil!" This time, a black creature appears in the air in front of Senel, its feet barely off the ground in front of it. The Centurion quickly reaches out with its tail, clawed tendrils snapping into place to push Senel and force him against the wall- and pin him there. Meanwhile, the blonde kid has a wild grin on his face as he's starting to race across the street- he's going to be there quickly, if Senel can't get away from Tenebrae.
You stun Senel Coolidge with your Gives a new meaning to 'prehensile tail,' doesn't it? action.
So what if Senel's a little bit obsessed? Is it really so bad to care about your family when there's a crazy monster swordsman running around?
Apparently so, because his obsession has put Senel between a rock and a hard place. Or rather, between a building and crazy-eyed Emil. The grappler struggles against the clawed tail of the suddenly spawned familiar, trying to wrench himself free. The light on his fingers glows again as he tries to use eres to force the Centurion away with a grunt of effort, but to no avail. "Get back, you damn monster!" the Marine snaps, though whether he's talking to Tenebrae or Emil is up to debate.
That's a good debate, really. Emil's a bit of a madman, isn't he?
Nevertheless, Tenebrae holds tight, finally letting out a bit of a playful, "You have got yourself a strong one. You better deal with him quickly, before he deals with you." This is, of course, towards the blonde. Emil never answers, however. He leaps into the air to clear the remaining distance between himself and Senel. At the last second, the Centurion vanishes in a black burst of light, fading entirely from view.
Emil, however, is still there, attempting to leave his sword down through Senel. At this point, those crazed red eyes are focused directly on the marine- the knight has nothing else to say. His blade should do the job in that respect.
You critically strike Senel Coolidge with your Look out below~ attack.
Despite his struggles, there's nothing Senel can do as Emil dives in for the kill, easily impaling the Marine and pinning him to the wall. He must have knicked a lung, since Senel teeth begin to stain red as he lets out several wheezing coughs.
Emil's focus on the Senel, however, his silent, predatory focus on the apparently helpless enemy shall be his downfall. The Marine looks up defiantly even as he's pinned to the wall, then spits in the knight's face, hoping to temporarily blind the boy in blue with a fine spray of blood and saliva. His head snaps forward a moment later to slam into Emil's nose, then both fists slam forward with a great wave of eres that should knock the swordsman head over heels yet again, sending him tumbling down the street.
Senel Coolidge gets a glancing blow on Emil Castagnier with his Using His Head feint.
The headbutt is, most certainly, unexpected. Emil is knocked back, but he suddenly slips out of the path of both of the fists before he can be slammed into the ground. A gloved hand snatches forward to slam Senel into the wall, again. This time- he's drawing on a large amount of power- usually along with the cleave attack, the Knight of Ratatosk can summon lightning along with it. Well- he's completing that now.
The ground glows underneath him and he reaches out with a hand to call forth for several bolts of lightning to fire down and strike Senel. As Emil pulls his hand back, he grits his teeth, before casting a glance in Shirley's direction. What are they? Who are they? Where are they from?
You hit Senel Coolidge with your Interrupting my attack with a headbutt. How could you? >.< attack.
Once again, Senel is slammed into the wall, his opponent finally resorting to punching to get his point across. There's another bloody cough as the wind is knocked out of the grappler, then a cry of pain when several bolds of lightning strike from the clear sky.
"Senel!" Shirley cries out as she sees her brother being mercilessly beaten, just as Emil glances towards the girl.
The sight enrages the Marine. Now Shirley is worried for him... what good is protecting her if she's stressing about him like this? "Stop..." the white-haired man cries as he grabs the sword that's pinning him to the wall and tears it out. "Staring..." The sword is dropped to the ground, and his gloved hands reach forward to grab Senel by the scarf and shirt.
With a mighty pull, Senel tries to wrench Emil off of his feet. He spins around once to gain momentum, then throws his arms into the air and lets go of the boy with a flare of eres. "...AT HER!!!" The force of the throw should easily send Emil to the other side of the block, over the wreckage of the bus.
Senel Coolidge stuns Emil Castagnier with his MIGHTY HEAVE action.
Emil is grabbed. He struggles against the marine, before he finds himself thrown into the air, crashing into the metal remains of the fiery bus. It seems that he has vanished entirely.
...though speaking of vanishing, that black creature shows itself, and its tail snakes around the blade, before taking off, flying off into the air to carry the sword back to the knight.
Slowly, Emil begins to push himself up onto his feet, rising amidst the flames burning around him. Those red eyes remain focused on Senel and Shirley at this point- and there's just something unsettling about the image as the knight forces himself to recover his own strength so that he can exact his fury on the white haired youth.
"Shirley, come on!" Senel yells, running to his sister's side the moment he's let go of Emil.
"S-Senel, you're hurt...!" the blonde girl says, fear in her voice as she stares at the blood pumping out of her brother.
The marine completely disregards it, adrenaline overpowering the pain of being impaled. "We can heal it later, we've got to move!" the white-haired man says as he takes Shirley's hand and begins to take off down the street. "We'll be safe once we're back through the Gate, he won't be able to find us again in all of those people!" The two weave their way through the abadoned cars as Emil pulls himself out of the bus, hopefully not training him all the way to the next zone.
Emil quickly pushes himself out of the wreckage, showing little wear and tear from the flames. Tenebrae quickly drops the blade down at his feet. "Lord Emil- perhaps it is best we let them continue on. They've got too much of a head start." That, in of itself, seems to be a bit of a cue to convince the crazed will of the boy to release him. He takes a breath, and blinks- green eyes staring upwards suddenly. He looks to Tenebrae, then to the bloody blade at his feet. The boy frowns, then he looks around his surroundings. It doesn't take him long to put 'two and two' together and he lowers his head.
No chance to worry, though. Tenebrae is already on the move. "We don't have time to worry about where they're headed. Let's get out of here before someone from the authorities comes to stop us." "I... - y- yeah..." There's a mumbled agreement, before the boy grabs his weapon and takes off running, as well. He finds that he has a bit of a limp, and his whole body is sore. He's always getting into too much trouble because of that 'other half,' isn't he?
Luckily, Emil and Senel won't be held accountable for the property damagetoday, because mere minutes after the fight has broken up the entire city block is smashed by two much more destructive combatants: Mecha-Godzilla and the Stay Puft Marshmallow Man.
