That is extremely awesome. The jump cuts are perfectly executed. Love the bookend scenes. Great use of the things that weren't directly related to Roslin, but work well.

The first time I watched, I totally jumped at :34. :) Amazing "breathless" section in the :40's. The part of the way that Kathy Lee needed Regis made me laugh. You matched sounds with video very well too.

Funny and thought provoking at the same time.

Wow, thanks! I'm glad you liked it. I'm glad the use of stuff "around" Roslin worked well. That lady does too much sitting and talking to be really great vidding material.

Also glad that there were some stand out moments - the idea fo the Kathy Lee and Regis clip made me giggle too. :)

"Funny and thought provoking" - highest compliment I could receive for this vid. Thank you.

That was great, I loved all the skipping and jumping in scenes, very awesomely edited. I thought the ending was a bit abrupt, but otherwise it was fantastic!

Thank you!

I agree with you about the ending. I wanted a longer cut of Roslin walking away, but the actual clip is extremely short, and the song cuts out too quickly *sigh* Still - I'm pretty happy with the end result, and I'm glad you are too. It's actually good to know my instinct about the ending is correct.

Thanks again. :)

I'm not a Roslin fan, but I really enjoyed this vid! I love how you didn't use a slow, dragging, long clip on such a fast beat. Good job!

Great vid :D

Nice job. Lots of fast edits right on target. Very nice to see a powerful Roslin as she too often comes off rather poorly in (overly sappy) vids.

I've always liked the song, but never thought it could work for a BSG vid. Guess I was wrong. Though Roslin would probably see it as heretical: "Who's this 'Jesus' person?" ;)

"Who's this 'Jesus' person?" LOL! I love it! The vid kind of is heretical, anyway. It can't decide if Roslin's Jesus or if she's trying to find him.

Glad you enjoyed it, and yeah, it was great to show her in charge as I really feel that she's gentle and compassionate, but the core of her character is power.

That video is amazing. I never would have thought of using that song. I loved the music choice and how you cut it to go with the music. I also loved a lot of the clips that you used. That was awesome. My only complaint would be you could have mixed things up a little and used some longer clips to counterbalance all of the short ones. However, it still turned out amazing and is easily one of my favorite videos. Excellent work.

Thanks for the feedback! So glad you like it.

I totally see your point about the longer clips. One of the problems I had making the video was that I was constantly cutting around "silent talking" because so many of Roslin's scenes are just her sitting and talking. Quick clips were a cheap way to get around that sometimes. Ultimately, I think the effect of quick cuts works in the video's favour as Roslin's not what you'd think of as "action" oriented and the quick cuts help to add some movement.

I'm always amazed by videos that successfully use longer clips, and time them well. "Pills," which is the next video down (by [info]reneedy) is a great example, as is "When it's cold I'd like to die," by [info]ancarett

And again, hearing how much you like it makes me really happy. :)

I have a bias against fanvids that use rap or hip-hop (they tend to have a real problem matching music to visuals) but this has to be the best Roslin vid I've seen. The jump cuts are timed perfectly, the visuals fit well, and you made great use of clips that don't show up often in BSG fanvids.
All kinds of awesome.

:) Thanks! Glad you enjoyed it. I do know what you mean about rap music vids - it *can* be very hard to cut to the often complex rhythm of the speech patterns, or have enough time to match a visual clip before the lyrics have moved on due to the speed of the speech. Fortunately this song provided me with a strong beat.

"All kinds of awesome," - kind of like your icon? That thing's hilarious!

You're yousendit link is dead but the megaupload works. I just had to tell you that the video is beautifully edited to match the timing of the music-one of the better BSG videos I have found so far. The cuts to match the words in the lyrics was also very inspired. I'm not a fan of religious songs, but that really isn't what the video is about-it's more about just having faith and realizing responsibility.
One cool part was where you match the lyrics:
"I walk through the Valley of The Shadow of Death" where you matched that with Roslin's near miss with the bullets and have her gasping in bed to match the gasping in the song-the editing of that was perfect.
Thanks for a great video.

Hey I'm glad you like it. You make an interesting point about the religious themes of the song - I think it's a bit like Roslin herself, religious, but conflicted about that.

The breathless section was actually one of the first editing ideas I got and one of the things that made me think, hey, maybe I can actually do this! So I'm glad that's working out fine.

I'm kind of awed so many people are enjoying it, I didn't realise a week later people'd still be wanting to download it! I'll try to re-upload to YouSendIt.

Thanks again for the awesome feedback!

Okay, that vid was just ridiculously awesome. I loved the scene where she was touching/annointing the heads of the people who thought she was the prophet, and then the look on her face which meshed great with 'we haven't spoke for so long'. It's another of those songs I'd have never thought worked, but it did, super well. Great all the way around.

Thanks! Glad to know you enjoyed it. I find the way Roslin embraces her prophet status without really believing in it fascinating and Mary McDonnell's expressions do so much to make that storyline work.

Anyways, glad to entertain. :)

;) Thanks I'm glad that summary hits the spot - took me a while to figure out how to phrase it.

More importantly, I'm glad you like the vid. I'm kind of awed by how well this vid was received since it was rap - I figured that'd be a real turn off for a lot of people, so it's very gratifying to know that it's still enjoyable for you even though you don't like the style of the music.

Wow, thank you so much for the feedback. Seriously - that means so much to me. I kind of made it because a friend of mine said the song would be good as a joke, and then more I listened to it, the more I started realising...I could, well, yeah, make the Roslin vid I'd been looking for and hadn't found anywhere. So thanks, you just made my day with that feedback, and I really appreciate the time you took to type it out. :)
