Hi, A lot of my old journal entries are a lot of pointless drivel, but they're mixed with important entries. I was just wondering if there was a way I could leave out certain entries when it generates into a pdf? I don't think there is personally, but if anyone knows a way I can get these entries left out, let me know. I'd rather not edit any entries because it doesn't feel right to delete these entries just because I was younger and not as interesting. |

I can't seem to find this answer anywhere, so I'm just going to ask: Does LJbook save the userpics, comments included? I'm looking for a way of archiving my journals that saves all the userpics, including the ones in the comments. Does LJbook do this? What steps do I take/boxes do I check to make this happen? I'm having no luck. Does it require a donation? Thanks!

Hi all, I am trying to archive a GJ journal before that site shuts down, but am not finding greatestjournal.com as a choice. Is it not possible to use ljbook to archive that site anymore? |
 |
|
For some days LJBook has been overloaded (near 100% usage). It has not been possible to serve everyone (sometimes LJ was down). LJBook is now back to "normal". That means that it is easier to get through the LJBook process. Please think about converting your journal to UTF-8 before launching the process. And use a temporary (quite simple) password (and don't forget to switch back to the original one!). Donors should contact the email address provided on the site for further assistance. Thanks! |

I donated, and not the lowest donation option, either, and I STILL can't get a backup done. I thought that this statement in the LJBook.com FAQ: "Currently, by donating you will be able to launch as many creation process as you want per hour and include high resolution images (even if there are too many users using the service). Thus you will have an archive. If you want, you will be listed on donors page.I'm sorry to not offer these features for free, but the bandwidth required to fetch all images and sending back your PDF is too big." meant that if you donated you could get a PDF. Am I misreading this? Has anyone else had this problem? Trying not to be really frustrated, this is the bajillionth time I've tried to make a PDF, at all kinds of hours of day and night, and no luck. It's a very nifty service, and it's very cool to offer it to everyone for free, but I'm feeling a little not cool about the FAQ statement and subsequent lack of PDF-ing ability. *pout* |

So, I donated and then it let me do my own right away. Can I only do the journal I donated under? I keep two journals. Do I have to donate under both names? |
 |
|
I have been attempting to catalogue even just monthly installments of my journal through here and ALWAYS get the "Sorry, but too many users are currently using this service." message show up no matter when I do it. Is this thing still in working order and just suddenly popular or is it out of bandwidth at the moment? or what? I'd donate, but if it's going under I don't want to contribute to something nearly dead.

Hi, I'm working on cleaning up my lj to make a book through Lulu to give to family, and I want to edit the latex source. I'm fine with latex, but I don't know how to make the 6x9 format. Does anyone here know? Thanks! |

Hello. I've been trying to make a backup of the past few years of my Journal, from the beginning of 2006 to the end of 2008. I've tried several times, usually by year. I tried with just one month, incase I had too many entries in a year, and got a pdf file (the one and only), but it was blank. So I checked the FAQ and converted my Journal and all. But it still won't work. I also keep getting the "too many users" thing today, while last night it just stalled at "26 seconds" for quite a while, or similar occurrences. I've tried staying away from Livejournal for several hours, clearing my browsers cache and all that. I've done everything the FAQ says to try, but it still won't work for me. I also noticed something about only getting a limited amount of LJBooks every 6 months? I may have used mine by attempting to create them? I understand the reasoning behind that, and wish I could donate, (andpeople mentioned this may fix the program) but I've no way to use money online. I'm really not sure what to do. =( Help would be very much appreciated.

-- I just made a donation and it won't let me get my journal... I followed the link from paypal and hit the back button... Neither worked. How do I get my pdf file? |

First, many thanks for the great tool! I found some issues to be improved. 1) My journal is in Russian, and making LJ Book is fine with the body text, but the comments encoding goes wrong. 2) From time to time I use words in Hebrew - in the created pdf file they are written from left to right (opposite to normal Hebrew writing). Anyway I'm happy to have such a nice possibility to archive the journal. Thanks a lot! |

This is a great service, and I'm glad it exists. I do have a suggestion for future development -- my friend just backed up a few communities and noticed that it didn't note who posted the original entry. That's not something that's relevant to personal journals, but it would be great to include when pulling from a community. |

Hello, I hope you are doing well. I know the subject of this thread is a bit confusing, and this may not even be the best place to ask this, but I really do not know where else to go. If you know of a better place for me to ask this, even if it is outside of this forum, please let me know. I found this community because a person from the handmadebooks community recommended me here. A friend of mine is getting married in approximately four months. As a wedding gift, I'd like to do something that's a bit creative. She's mentioned that she would one day like to print out all of her LiveJournal entries, which comes out to be nearly 400 pages. I need help with three main things. 1) It would be a lot easier if I could somehow download all of her LiveJournal entries, but cannot seem to find a way to do so. I've gone through the help pages and such, and was able to find a page titled "How do I download all of my journal entries?" but that only seems to apply to my own journal. Can I somehow download a friend's journal? I see that LJBook can gather all of my journal entries together into a PDF file, but I'd actually let to get my friend's journal entries, not my own, together. Is there any way I can do this? 2) I am looking for a way to bind the 400 or so pages together. The best method I have come up with involves a scrapbook of sorts, as scrapbook covers are usually quite nice and artistic. What I could potentially do is just slide the pieces of paper into sheet protectors inside a scrapbook. However, scrapbooks tend to be only a few dozen pages at most, and I cannot find a way to fit hundreds of pages into one book. 3) (This is a minor thing, as I can probably find a local place to do this.) I need a place to actually print the journal entries, and I won't be using my own printer or paper. Can anyone recommend an online (or offline) professional printing service that is good but offers reasonable prices? Any other recommendations or suggestions would help as well. Thank you, Victor Ly |

Hello Thanks for your site! It's very useful. Just one question: I've made a donation, but was kicked out when I tried to make the 4th attempt to make my LJbook (only to of them were sucessful). How soon will I be able to continue? Thank you very much for your help! |

Not really for LJ users... If you got friends using WordPress... I'm announcing the begining of beta test phase of LJBook for WordPress users.
www.BlogBooker.com You just have to export your blog to XML from WordPress and send the file. Quite simple, without any option... at this time. PS: It runs if ressources are available, otherwise it generates nothing. |

Hi guys :) I've always loved the LJ Book concept and I love mini banners. Yes I know, obsessive blabla, but still! There wasn't a small LJ banner so I decided to go ahead and make one. With Gad's permission (?) I'd say: feel free to use it :) |

Hello y'all! I am really interested in creating in LJBook soon and was curious to see how many entries people have when creating their LJBook. I wonder because I would think having hundreds and hundreds of entries would have the potential to be more problematic than trying to convert a couple dozen entries. Thanks. ~Santi

I've already donated TWICE in a month's period, and I still get kicked back when trying to print off one year. I'm almost through with the printing process, and my Adobe trial is almost over. I'm a little panicky, because I've never had trouble like this before. Please help me. There is a footer which popped up in year 2005 that none of the other issues had, and it's gotta go. I thought as donors, we were allowed special privileges? I was /never/ allowed to print more than one every hour or so (I tried two, and it gave me an error message), and have not taken advantage of the system by continually printing. Also, the backup system didn't work, because I can't get to year 2005 or 2006. I hope this can be resolved. I again donated tonight, only for it to kick me off. I feel kinda sick over this, since I've never had trouble before and NOW I'm paying for it (literally).

Do I need to be a moderator of a community in order to convert it into an LJ book? Or can I just be a member? I have mod permission, and permission from all of the members, but I wasn't sure if I actually have to be set up as a mod in order to make an LJ book out of it. |
