I'm afraid to turn off my computer now... [07 Oct 2008|06:21pm] mewmew I turned my computer off this morning before work, as I usually try and remember to do. When I got home just a bit ago and turned it on, it gave me a message about Windows not being able to start properly, that a recent installation may be the cause, and to try restarting with the last known configuration that worked. This scared the living FUCK out of me, because that's the same message my old computer gave me before it quit starting up all together. I've only had this thing for a couple months, I do NOT want it to be dying on me already. Can someone try and reassure me by giving me some options for what may have caused that message other than my motherboard starting to fry again? Please, I'm creating!

PALPABLE [07 Oct 2008|03:25pm] truncated_ashes [ mood | restless ] It seems like the fear about the economy is becoming palpable. With each day, more and more people look increasingly nervous and overly cautious. Everywhere you go, you can feel the stress and worry in the air ( or at least I can ), and see the changes in the way businesses are being run. For example, I went to the grocery store yesterday, and sometime during the last week since I was last there ( and all this economic stuff has continued to implode ), the store positioned a multitude of round end-cap style displays in all the aisles. NOT on the ends of the aisles, but inside the aisles themselves, three or four of them in each one. So, now you have to negotiate your cart carefully around them to barely squeeze by. They are filled with sale items, mostly under $2 or $3. It's a very bad sign to me. So, they ( read our government and their lackeys ) can say we're not headed for a full blown depression, but they're also the ones who kept saying the economy would start to improve any day now, and then when it didn't, assured us that the $700 billion dollar bailout would definitely fix us right up. 'Course, now they say that'll take some time to "trickle down" to us, and probably will amount to nothing more than a drop in the bucket. With this financial crisis starting to domino across the rest of the world, I'm not feeling to hopeful right at this moment. It's a time for hard decisions for everybody... Please, I'm creating!

He recentally texted asking to meet for a drink, she said yes, as friends I'd like to add, and then he started texting her to tell her to wear something sexy. So, she texted yesterday and said 'Um. You have a girlfriend. BYEEEEEEEEE' only in a more mature and growed up way, and there's been no reply. I'd feel sorry for him, but he's 4 years older than me. FOUR. I was up til 2am watching Jem and the Holograms songs on youTube. And The Misfits, of course, because 'I'm Gonna Hunt You Down' is just awesome. This is also totally normal. I had a dream about buying a Sherbet Fountain. But they don't exist in shops anymore. Even Sweet Heaven! Although that was a small shop and I didn't want to go in because it's basically standing in front of the til. I joined the group of parents and children leaning at dangerous angles to see what was inside. Couldn't see anything though. I'm seeing Bessie Mate On the 17th! We're shopping round Camden cause she wants to make her room look amazing in Portsmouth. But YAYHUMANCONTACT! Not like that. You know what I mean. And then we'll work out when I'll go down to visit :D And in related news, I'm panicking about Platypus's birthday. Platypus's birthday being the one thing that I CANNOT miss, correct? NO ONE IS GOING. Well, people are going. None of my friends. The boys, mostly, which... ok, include a lot of my friends but I can't just hang around with them! I need Apple there or something, but uiversity has stolen her away. I'm gonna see if Jessie or Helen are going. And CLING! Please, I'm creating!

When I say church, I do mean church, but when I say sermon, i mean Neil Gaiman. The bookstore that's having him here tonite is teeny tiny, so they rented out the church down on Folsom - which, funny enough, is where I was all day Saturday for the green burial conference. Got my hands on the comm theory midterm today - not as terrified of it as I was several hours ago. It may even be do-able. Gonna spent the next bit of time working on my query letter, grading some essays, and polishing up my MMR presenation for class tomorrow, then dinner, then leave house @ 5.45 for Neil, hang out w. Neil Gaiman til - Mellzah, how late did yours go? 2 hours? more? Let's say 9ish? (possibly do work while listening. No qualms about pretending to blog while Neil is talking.) then back to work, pretend to do readings. Oh, I should go put my NEW LICENSE PLATES on my car. [07 Oct 2008|12:46pm] singswithtrees [ mood | anxious ] Yay! In a couple of weeks, I'll be going up to Lacey, WA to visit Stern (lj user=erinralph>, Gunhild, and Josh. I'll be leaving Portland on Saturday the 25th at 8:45 am and arriving in Olympia at 11:15 am. I'll be getting on the bus again at 6:20 pm on Sunday the 26th, and getting back to Portland at 8:50 pm. Granted, I'm taking Greyhound, but I really, really don't mind. It'll be so good to see them all! I can barely wait... Please, I'm creating!
