Ok Ladies and Gentlefurs!,
The new FursuitLounge is almost complete!! one of the most important steps is just making it live! Over the next couple days the servers will be updating to the new site.. Because of this Total re-design and changing of systems the new site will need you to re-register! BUT on the plus side is the new system is more powerful, faster and has a TON of new options for you guys.. I'll go into more detail in a bit.. I started the name server change yesterday. It should be mostly complete by now but a few straggling servers still may be pointing to the old site. When you get a moment try out the new site. http://www.fursuitlounge.com
Now for the FUN stuff!!
*New Look - The site is totally redesigned.. Custom Styling options and module options.. You can re-color the site as well as move the features in the site to your liking. (Use Styles Menu At the top)
*PawBook - The new site has face book style social networking.. Create your profile, Upload pics and videos, Add Friends, create custom groups for your friends and a lot more! This is one of the biggest upgrades and it is really fun to play around with! I hope you guys really enjoy using it!
*Face Book Connect - Do you have a face book account? Well click on the face book connect button and login.. It will sync your FB account with your FL account (This is not tested as the servers need to be fully updated to the new site before we can)
*Forum - New phpBB3 software forum.. (One still pending modification is skinning the forum to match the site but that is coming soon.. What ever skin you choose for the site, the forum will match)
*Convention Information - Although currently not active this will be returning. We are testing out calender/discussion features currently
*One Login - Another huge feature is one login.. Sign up on the main site and your done! You have access to everything on the site from PawBook, Forums, Polls, Market Place and a lot more coming soon.
If you have any questions please feel free to email me sinabu@gmail.com or catch me on AIM @ sinabu
Thanks guys!

Strange request, but..... I am in need of a Rabbit partial or full suit, I'd prefer a partial or evan just a head (I can make the hands and tail). I need this for a very special personal occasion on Aug1-2 that I just found out I'll ba able to attend. Does anyone out there have an old rabbit head lying around you wouldn't mind parting with? I'm more than willing to pay a reasonable price.
I know this is an odd request but anybody?????

First of all, so upset that I have yet to go to anthro con. CONSIDERING I LIVE 3 HOURS FROM IT.
But I was wondering if anyone will be willing to tell me other cons? I know a few, but there's always lack of information on there sites. Wheres further confusion? Fur fright? I'm sorry I'm a idiot.
whats your Favorite con? Best experiences? I could say mine was a Small ball pit, at a tiny fursuit meet. The ball pit was "leaking" balls everywhere.

(Edit to a 3 year old post to the fursuit community!)
Hi there, I was wondering if anyone has ever made a decent Kilrathi fursuit based on those costumes that you see in Wing Commander III (And a bit in IV)?
If you want to know what I'm talking about, you can watch wing commander videos here:
http://www.wcnews.com/holovids/
Especially check out wing commander III cinematics for the live action stuff...
If anyone knows anything about fan versions of, say, Hobbes, that would be awesome! :)
Note: The movie versions sucked, the game versions of the suits in III and IV seemed much more awesome. They seemed to be puppet partials, presumably with an off screen operator. Any thoughts?

I was digging through some old convention photos of mine, and I discovered what had to be the very first fursuiter I'd ever met. It was in 2004, at a one-time anime convention called Kunicon. I was only a burgeoning furry then (it was there, just not fully realized), so when I saw this guy, I naturally squealed and nabbed him for a photo.
( Photo here! )
Which, of course, leads me to the title of my post - who was the first fursuiter (or fursuiters, if your first con was a furry one) you ever met? Post stories and pictures, I'm curious!

I've been thinking about making a fursuit to sell recently, but I'm not sure what kind of animal to make! I could do a fox or a huskers, but those are so boring! I really don't want to do a generic canine, but it seems like thats what would sell. :/
I'm about to make a personal cat suit, so I don't know if I'll be up for making a cat either.
So my question is... What kind of animal should I make?!
I don't want to make a good suit and then have it not sell because no one wants a ferret or something like that.

These are notes I had left with a friend regarding practing with two different fursuit characters he recently received.
For those who are new to either mascoting or playing a character in a new fursuit at a convention (or just an event in general), here are a few tips to help you get to know your character.
Feel free to add any advice in a reply for those new and want to learn more.
One simple thing you can do is practice in front off a mirror. Practice different expressions.
"Happy," "sad," "hungry," "shy," "excited," "confused," and so on.
If you have a video camera or can record from a web camera (most laptops now have them built in), try practicing a few expressions, then record yourself. Watch the video later and see what you want to continue doing behavor-wise or work on.
Something to consider is what type of personality would your character have? Is he buff? Is she cute and a lil shy? A surfer dude? Bouncy?
An example is my purple skunk, Edmund. I stand at about 5' 1.5" (yes, I'm short), and I play off of this. I try to keep a bounce in my step, come up with different expressions, squeak or coo, and wave a lil bell I keep on a lanyard on his neck for sound effects. I try to play off of being a little energetic, friendly, and making cool secret hand shakes as something neat to do when interacting with guests at events.
Something extra I do (you don't need to do this) is I make the body suit smell like raspberries. I don't sweat much, but it smells better than that or making my skunk smell like fresh laundry fabric (which isn't a bad smell to be honest).
If you have someone available and don't feel too shy, have someone watch you act out the expressions and give you feed back.
Also, does your characters speak? Most costume characters do not to keep the character uniform (generally if the costume is shared). Personally, I may or may not talk depending on the venue. At a convention, people around you attending may feel more comfortable hearing a voice. If it's at a sports game, use your body language to communicate, or keep a handler nearby to be your voice.

Found on youtube, it's a positive review for once! They didn't focus on the stereotypical sensational media-blown-out version of the fandom for once. Props!

I apologize for the cross-post from the fursuit group. Also, if you replied in my other post, no need to repost here.
So there's some really evil voice in my head that wants a fursuit.
But the logic / reasoning voice on my other shoulder says there are better ways to spend my money. (FWIW, I could, in theory, pay for a fursuit in full.)
So here's the big question: what are (your) reasons for getting a fursuit? As it is, I usually have a pretty good time at cons, and almost always a good time at furmeets. A bad reason to get a fursuit is to be "popufur".
I've fursuited a couple of times in the past, borrowing a friends suit, and it was a pretty good time. There's something really fun about acting out a different character and kind of being someone else for a little while. Its a different kind of fun than being my regular bouncy self.
So, what are your reasons for suiting? If you can have fun without a suit, why get one?

I can't remember if I've posted this here or not, well anyway enjoy what I consider to be my best, and most fun to make fursuit video of me in Thomas Dolby's Hyperactive! =^.-=

I just wanted to thank you all, everyone who either helped to make this con possible or even added to the cheer just by showing up, from the bottom of my heart for one of the most memorable weekends of my entire life, and to say that I hope it was every bit as wonderful for each and every one of you! It was a delight getting to meet so many of you in "furson" finally! I especially want to thank you, Hegdish and Drakeduck, for your kindness in welcoming this awkward newbie to the fandom and even sharing a room with me so I could go to my first Anthrocon this year. And for you other new furs out there -- you absolutely MUST go to AC if you haven't been already! It will be an experience like no other that will filll your soul with warmth and laughter for weeks to come. Anywhichway, I thought I'd make up this fursuit montage from the pictures I took while I was there...I hope y'all like it!
...And of course, I feel terribly vain asking this but since everyone else is doing it too (!)...do you think you could give me a yelp, howl or chitter if you happen to come across any pictures of li'l ol me? (ESPECIALLY from the person who snapped that photo of me riding on that guy's back while trying to steal Shiro's cookie!) I would have been in one of these three suits: Thanks again everyone, and I can't wait to see you all at the next con!!!

Hi all,
I've gotten a ton of qusetions about this, so I thought it'd be easiest to answer it here. Anthrocon's Fursuit parade photo will be released as soon as possible. One of the photographers had to go out of country right after AC and will be back shortly. As soon as the convention has the image, it will be posted for everyone to view.
Thanks to all 640 fursuiters that participated in a wonderful parade this year!

i have a room dedicated to costume stroage with rack upon rack of hung up bodies and furs, boxes of dummies, and a shelf of paws. random chunks of pillow stuffing from the duct tape dummies tend to float around my house and pop up out of no where when i think i got them all. when i sweep the house i find neon colored dust bunnies. my shop vac is my best friend. i dunno what is worse, the cats shedding or the fursuit fuzz in this house. i have ice packs in the freezer to go in my suit. my bedroom looks like a warehouse of boxes and supplies as i am too busy working on suits to get it all organized into the shed and storage room. my work room has paint like everywhere and i can hardly find the floor right now there is a jinormous pile of fur scraps in the corner of my work room which i just keep building into a taller and taller pile as it spreads out and one fo these days i am going to spread it out, take a picture and sell it but again too busy/lazy. there is always sissors and spool of thread by my comfy chair. and i hang all my heads on the wall in the den so it looks like a furry troll hunting lodge in here. in short there is NO WAY some one can come into my house and not notice i am a furry and not know what i do for a living.
i am sure some of you can relate
